When will the booster side effects go?

Jobseeker19 · 22/12/2021 19:10

I have had side effects from the moderna vaccine and feel really ill.

Headache, chills, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and insomnia.

I had the vaccine on Monday and it started a few hours later. I do not feel any let up atm. I am cycling Co-codramol and ibuprofen.

My DH was suppose to have the booster today but has cancelled it as we have 3 children and can't both be ill together.

Has anyone felt like this and got better quick?

Mine was three days. Hope you feel better soon.x

Petshopboyes · 22/12/2021 21:37

Sorry to hijack your thread, I had the Moderna booster Friday and have had a headache and sore / tickly throat since.
I’ve done LFTs daily and they’re all negative.
So fed up with this already!

1ofthosedayz · 22/12/2021 21:38

Have you done a covid test @Jobseeker19 ?

Lawnpop · 22/12/2021 21:40

I had moderna booster on Monday morning. Had chills and achey legs yesterday and all night. Today I’ve felt nauseous on and off but the aches and chills have gone, so I’m hopeful I’ll be fine tomorrow. DH had his moderna booster a couple of weeks ago and had no side effects except for a sore arm

SunshineThelma · 22/12/2021 21:42

I also had mine on Monday and the guy who gave it recommended paracetamol over other painkillers. I didn't really ask why, but it might be worth giving them a go of ibuprofen isn't helping.

RobinPenguins · 22/12/2021 21:44

Mine lasted less than 24 hours but DH’s seem to be lasting a bit longer. Seems to be a lot of luck involved, hope you feel better soon!

BasiliskStare · 22/12/2021 21:46

Pfizer booster here - felt really unwell for a day & rubbish for another day then gone. DH felt "under the weather" for a day and then it went - I think it affects different people differently. DS has just had booster ( yesterday all fine but felt achey this morning - feeling much better now. )

Not helpful @Jobseeker19 - but I think there isn't a formula - different people ( from a random selection of my family react differently. I hope you feel better soon.

PS DS did a LFT this morning to check it was side effects and he was negative so that is what it was.

I had mine Saturday and was fine, just a little bit tired and achy until Tuesday when wham I ached all over is this normal? How long is it going to last? My head feels swimmy. I've done LFTs and only just twigged it was the vaccine today. I had 2 x pfizer and this was my moderna booster

Jobseeker19 · 22/12/2021 23:00

I took a lft test today but was negetive. If I'm still like this after tomorrow I think I will book a pcr test.

Same. I would like the leg pain to stop.
SpookyScarySkeletons · 23/12/2021 10:00

I had mine Friday although it was Pfizer not Moderna.
Saturday - tired and arm was sore
Sunday - tired but arm soreness had gone
Monday raging sore throat and feeling sick
Tuesday same
Wednesday same
Thursday bright as a button!!

MrsLeclerc · 23/12/2021 11:47

I had the Moderna on Monday evening.

I had chills before going to bed, woke up at 5am for more paracetamol. Felt really achey and tired all Tuesday and had pain in my joints.
Yesterday I felt a bit better just tired but today I’ve had nausea, upset stomach’s and have had to have a lie down.
I think it’s still the booster as DH and DS are both fine.

I might do an LFT later just in case.

namechange212021 · 23/12/2021 13:05

Took me three days - fever 39.8, chills, and bedded (pfizer) . Regular paracetomal and ibuprofen did help a bit, but mainly lots of sleep . Covid assessment hub said only to PCR if I started with sinus pain, coughing or sneezing or it persisted past 72 hours .

SunnyNights · 23/12/2021 15:22

Had Moderna on Tuesday, felt awful on Wednesday with fever, chills and aches, then Thursday morning woke up fine.

Jobseeker19 · 24/12/2021 00:50

I dont feel as bad today but still have a pressure headache, dizziness, nausea and insomnia.

Also right now in bed I have vertigo and feel like I'm swaying. I have a telephone appointment with GP tomorrow to see if its unrelated or just to see what they say.

A few days before having the vaccine I was in the middle of a really heavy period. Worse one for years so have been feeling weak for about 2 weeks and then the booster has added another spin to it.

Thats the main reason for the GP call but will mention vaccine side affects also.

I've had to right off this entire weak and can barely eat.

I had my booster on Saturday, a third dose of Pfizer. Spent most of Sunday in bed, felt hungover all day Monday, slightly rough Tuesday, then just slightly tired Wednesday (& exhausted yesterday but that's because my 4yo was up all night). My 1st dose I was fine, 2nd I had a numb arm for the best part of a week.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 24/12/2021 01:45

I had Pfizer on Tue evening and have felt various degrees of rough ever since. Got a tender and slightly swollen armpit as well. I really, really don’t want to have a 4th booster jab if they bring it in.

Clickncollect · 24/12/2021 03:26

Currently laying in bed with the chills, a headache, achey legs and insomnia - urgh!! I had my Moderna booster on Wednesday at 4.30pm and these symptoms kicked in about 20 hours later.
My husband is currently isolating in the spare room as he has actual covid and I’m trying to look after my autistic 5 year old. Today will have to be a screen day!!
Will test when I get up (DS usually wakes up around 5.30….!) just to be sure this is booster side effects rather than actual covid.
Wishing everyone better asap…

dogaibu · 24/12/2021 03:31

I had my booster on Tuesday, and the yesterday evening I began feeling fluish- chills, body pain and especially a bad pain under my armpit of the arm that was jabbed. I'm still not feeling well at all

SpiderFluff · 24/12/2021 07:19

Ive had leg pain and its stopped this morning. Just thought I'd share for those worrying it won't stop. I'm on day 5 I think.

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 24/12/2021 07:39

I had my booster last Saturday, immediate side effects were pain behind my left eye, a sharp shooting pain. Then on Monday, my left armpit lymph node swelled, it's still swollen.

Not felt sleepy or anything else.

Jobseeker19 · 24/12/2021 07:40

The idea of a fourth jab. I can't.

They need to admit it only lasts 3 months and let people decide.

I can't feel like this for a week every 3 months. Are they going to pay me for time off work?

Had mine Saturday. Had some kind of fever on Sunday for couple of hours and since then have had felt sick and had a headache that comes and goes and I feel worse when I'm tired but not sleep more than usual. I was also mid period when I got the booster.

Jobseeker19 · 24/12/2021 08:13

I wonder if getting it on your period prolongs the side effects?

OP posts:
Fruitteatime · 24/12/2021 08:25

I mentioned that because I have wondered. The sickness feels very hormonal like morning sickness! Dp had booster at same time and no side effects. Hope you feel better soon
