No LFT's to be found

We are down to our last 3 LFT's, so currently not even enough for Christmas Day for our family of 4. Over the past week or so I have kept trying the government website and since yesterday I've rung / visited 7 different pharmacies. Not one of them had any LFT's or could tell when they'd be back in stock. This is Herts / Cambs. Anyone else got this problem? How are we supposed to 'be careful' if we can't even get hold of tests?

OP do have you any friends with Secondary School kids? Admittedly DD's school was hot on testing (twice a week minimum, daily if a close contact)....at one stage we had 4 or 5 boxes of the things.

It might be worth asking on a local Facebook/Whatsapp group?

I would try a Facebook appeal. People here are being very good about giving their surplus to people who can’t get any.

I work in a library that has been a collection point. We had people queuing down the street this morning and ran out of all supplies 20 minutes after opening. We’re not due to get stock again until mid January!

I've just managed to order some online. I just kept on trying, like people suggested. As a back up a friend who works at the hospital has promised me some. Thanks all for your advice!

Wow - we have at least 12 boxes.

They were giving them out - five boxes at a time - on our local high street a few weeks ago.

I volunteer at a vaccination centre and always take two boxes away with me, which keeps us steady state.

I ordered a box last week, after reading on here that they're like gold dust, they came two days later. No difficulty or delay

@ohidoliketobe I reserved some at a boots using that system but they didn't have any - said the system is incorrect

I’ve ordered 3 boxes online in the past few days (family of 5 testing twice a week) and had no issues.

I've just ordered one for my parents too.

@ihearttc ah, I see. I’m a secondary school teacher in a school of 2000+ pupils so we’ve got tests for staff and pupils and literally had them in massive boxes everywhere on the last day of term!

If you have a walk-through testing centre near you they may be able to help. DS got a box of 7 yesterday.

I knobbled 5 boxes - by the time 5 of us have done them we get through them fast!

I ordered some online a few days ago. I reckon you just need to be lucky, and keep trying.

I've ordered 3 lots online over the last week and not one box has turned up even though the order was apparently successful on the nhs website.

If anyone is still struggling, I've just ordered some online so they're available again.

2 boxes just turned up here, both ordered yesterday.

I checked at intervals in the night, but eventually managed to order some at 7.30 am. Now waiting for them to arrive ...

Meanwhile I found some at the library. They don't all have them; my nearest didn't so I had to go to the one in the next town but they had lots.

The poor pharmacies are getting fed up. They say they order them but nothing turns up. Most now have a notice on the door to save everyone asking.
