Hi please could someone tell me if this lateral flow test looks positive or just dodgy. My son has symptoms and used the last one and it came out like this. Thank you

Both. Wishing you well!

Thevengabusiscoming · 21/12/2021 22:42

I can’t drive and I’m on my own with the kids. I thought someone could pick a test up for us as last time I got one from the school but they are closed and I can’t find anywhere else that does that

It might be flooded, I’ve always only put 2 x drops on not 4. Either way get a PCR now anyway.

Tr1skel1on · 21/12/2021 22:49

I had 2 tests that looked exactly like that. Is it a flowflex by any chance? Got a few weeks ago?

My PCR was negative

slaybell · 21/12/2021 22:49

How old is DS? Could you do another one without causing too much distress?

OatALot · 21/12/2021 22:54

What do you think about these? 1st one after 40 minutes, hence the others. DS friend tested positive so tested. PCR tomorrow. Never had a positive even after a day of leaving the test.

Yeah flowflex first time I’ve used them. Hopefully it will be a negative 🤞

He’s 9 and it was the last test I got off someone and have rang around chemists but they are all out of stock

OP posts:
Thevengabusiscoming · 21/12/2021 23:10

Yeah the first looks positive but the others don’t. Fingers crossed for you it comes back negative

Previous positive of another variant only gives you 19% protection against omicron.

GoodPrincessWenceslas · 21/12/2021 23:38

You can get tests online through the NHS within a couple of days.

For what it's worth, your son's symptoms sound similar to DH's, and he has tested positive. Before taking the PCR he had a couple of negative LFTs.

Fallagain · 22/12/2021 08:09

It doesn’t matter what the out come of this LFT is. He has symptoms so he needs isolate and get a PCR.

Thevengabusiscoming · 22/12/2021 08:26

We are isolating and waiting on a pcr test. His only symptoms were a runny nose and sneezing. I think majority of people get a cold in the winter. The new guidelines are people with Covid who are jabbed can now come out of isolation after 7 days aslong as the lateral flow tests are negative so they must work on people with symptoms as it would be pointless testing

MimosaFields · 22/12/2021 08:48

Those are my symptoms and I've got Omicron. Confirmed by the PCR results. Your test looks positive to me

Abraxan · 22/12/2021 09:03

Re LFTs, after 3 days of not being able to order any online I've been able to get straight online just now and order with no issues. So if anyone is needing some it might be worth trying again. No idea if they'll arrive before Christmas, but maybe for the days after. We

supersop60 · 22/12/2021 09:07

@OatALot - my DS test looked like yours. One faint line on one test, and subsequent ones, no line at all on the T. Positive PCR however......

vera99 · 22/12/2021 09:20

Had this one 7 days ago - and never repeated with any lat flows. Mild sniffles at the time. Had PCR for my partner and I still have no results back in Bexley Greater London. So treating it now as negative. But are in a relative self-imposed quarantine anyway for visiting family at Christmas.

ALittleOldLadyTookInHerGoat · 22/12/2021 09:28

Any time I've had the flood issue on a negative it's been running on the control line. If the test line came up fast I'd imagine it's positive.
My daughters positive came up in about 3 mins the other day. Flowflex

MargosKaftan · 22/12/2021 09:49

@Fallagain

It doesn’t matter what the out come of this LFT is. He has symptoms so he needs isolate and get a PCR.
To be fair, the symptoms he has are not the listed symptoms of covid - lots of people are reporting a runny nose and sore throat for kids with the new varient, but officially that won't get you a PCR.

However that blurry lined LFT looks positive to me if its only been 15 mins since it was done so get a PCR.

LifesTooShortYOLO · 22/12/2021 23:17

Interested to hear the PCR result OP x

Iggly · 22/12/2021 23:19

@cardibach

If he has symptoms you should have gone straight to PCR. The state of the LFT is irrelevant.
^this a million times.

LFTs are a red light test not a green light. I.e if it’s negative, it doesn’t give you the green light to assume you’re ok. But if it’s positive, it’s a red light to get a PCR!

OatALot · 23/12/2021 08:33

Had my PCR back, negative. Just waiting for DD. I'm thinking it's positive, but the instructions do say don't read past 30 minutes.

Change123today · 23/12/2021 08:49

I had one like that and PCR negative. So there is a little hope!!

OatALot · 23/12/2021 10:30

DDs and mine were negative PCR. Good luck OP.
