Do you know many who got covid since having third booster?

Hi, Just been wondering.....the stats say that about 70% chance not getting covid or symptomless once had booster (after 2 weeks ). Wondered if many still succumbed to covid despite having the booster?

Yep me.. boosted last Monday - gone from feeling rubbish post booster through a hangover GrinBlush and then tested positive today.. so symptom wise I’m on about day 9 Wink but having felt terrible yesterday feel ok today - just like a cold, hoping it stays this way!

I had booster in Oct and started getting symptoms around Saturday.... so far cold like symptoms, cough, runny nose, itchy throat. Haven't lost taste or smell and no high temp or body aches so far.

I know quite a few people that have had covid throughout the last couple of years. Some serious and most milder as per stats. Not aware of any friends or colleagues that have had after booster but that's only my own experience.

Perhaps someone will come along with peer review published data on that soon?

Fallagain · 21/12/2021 20:12

I can’t say I know many people who are two weeks or more post booster. I do know someone whose 2 children (5 and under) and husband got covid but she didn’t.

It takes 10 to 14 days for your body to build up the antibodies from the vaccine so I’m afraid your booster wouldn’t have been able to help in your situation.

I first had covid just after Christmas last year. I had my booster at the beginning of November and now have covid for the 2nd time.

In terms of the symptoms I feel equally as crap but have replaced the loss of smell/taste with a sore throat this time around. Possibly a bit more pissed off though Grin

One - caught covid two weeks after her booster. She’s 65. She’s had a slight blocked nose & is going insane in isolation 😂 she almost certainly has omicron.

But obviously, great to see it’s working so well!

Delatron · 21/12/2021 21:45

It’s really positive that the booster seems to be making it milder. I’m just grumpy I didn’t have chance to have mine.

Lucked · 21/12/2021 21:48

Yes a few people at work (hospital) over the last fortnight. Most have been mild cases some asymptomatic picked up on lateral flow.

littlepeas · 21/12/2021 21:49

My mum did - she caught it off my ds (we didn’t know he had it at the time) - he was sat on her lap, etc, lots of very close contact. She had 2xAZ and a Pfizer booster.

littlepeas · 21/12/2021 21:49

I should add that she was extremely well protected - ‘a bit tired’ was her only symptom.

Bythepath · 21/12/2021 21:49

I was boosted in October, positive a few weeks ago. I would never have known, slight cold thats it.

Warmduscher · 21/12/2021 21:52

Me and DH, both double vaccinated and booster in November. Due out of isolation 23rd.

I’ve just read that researchers in Oregon have found increases in immunity of 1-2000% for people who are fully vaccinated and subsequently get Covid. Every cloud …

Siameasy · 21/12/2021 21:59

My mate had her 3rd booster and caught it a week later! So far she’s not too unwell

Crapslattern · 21/12/2021 22:01

Two - one asymptomatic and one had a fluey cold for 5/6 days. Felt a bit crappy but nothing dramatic.

Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 22:01

Me! Currently got Covid and had my booster 5 weeks ago. Second time I have had Covid, I had it last January too.

Covidclaire · 21/12/2021 22:06

I tested positive 5 days after the booster. Very minimal symptoms and negative by LF by 6 days later (didn’t test in between, so no idea how long I was “positive” for).

Hurrah for the vaccines!

Janus · 21/12/2021 22:07

I know one person. I had my booster in November but my 18 year old (fully vaccinated but booster due tomorrow) tested positive yesterday. I’ll let you know if I get it! 🙄

whenwillthemadnessend · 21/12/2021 22:11

Yes two women over 40

itscoldinhere · 21/12/2021 22:11

Me and DF have Covid right now and are double vaccinated and have had boosters. We are asymptomatic though.

Timeturnerplease · 21/12/2021 22:15

I know two - both nurses so boosted a while ago. One caught it from work last month, and one two days ago via their teenager. Both seem ok, but obviously gutted at having their first Christmas with their new baby affected.

Citygirlinwellies · 21/12/2021 22:20

Me and DH. I had my booster 2 and bit weeks before. DH had his 2 months before.

Redburnett · 21/12/2021 22:20

Triple vaccinated relative got it recently. Unwell for about 3 days but still testing positive on LFT days later, so still isolating.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 21/12/2021 22:21

I think a lot have tested positive post booster. But luckily the Omicron variant is proving to be pretty mild as suspected. Has anyone that is unvaxx'd had omicron? Just wondering how they've faired. Would be interesting to see a study comparing the two in like by like trial subjects to see if it's the booster making symptoms more mild, or just the variant.

Socksorter · 21/12/2021 22:21

Yes, but only a few days after my 3rd. Booster Thursday, tested positive the following Friday. Made it difficult to pin point start of symptoms though as felt rough after my jabs.
