Gah, posted that too early as little one was having a meltdown.

December 27th!!! Not 26th.
Hopefully won’t have too much of an impact on people travelling home from Christmas celebrations!

Surely they can't make an announcement on the 26th to start restrictions on the 27th 😩 we are due to travel 200 miles to in laws on 27th and couold really do with knowing if we can't earlier than the 26th as we will have packed, organised someone to feed the cats etc. They should just let us know so we can plan round it 😪

Bluntness100 · 20/12/2021 17:17

Did you read that article op? It’s not leaked restriction date it’s speculation 😂

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/12/2021 17:20

I'm due to go to Butlins on the 27th so I'd hope they give a bit more notice than the day before!

bingandflop · 20/12/2021 17:23

@Waxonwaxoff0 agreed! I will be so pissed off in I spend hours packing to end up not going, I have 3 children one of whom is a baby so will have LOADS of stuff to take. If we can't go, then fine but let us know now! They must know by now what they are planning to do!

Fishlipandtoeface · 20/12/2021 17:24

Nothing has been leaked. They haven’t decided on anything.

99victoria · 20/12/2021 17:24

We're due to go to Scotland for 4 days over Hogmanay. We're travelling on 28th over 2 days (we're in the south). How can they possibly announce on 26th to start on 27th? What about the poor hotels and restaurants?

Delatron · 20/12/2021 17:26

I understand the speculation. But they don’t even know. So you can’t. And there’s nothing to be leaked.

Nobody knows. It’s bloody annoying though. That’s when my parents are supposed to be coming down. It’s not all about Christmas Day.

waterlego · 20/12/2021 17:27

BBC headline article now saying no restrictions for now, but Bojo ‘won’t rule anything out’.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/12/2021 17:28

I’d believe Boris before I’d believe the Ronnie Gill! That paper is shocking.

Beaconoflight · 20/12/2021 17:38

There are no restrictions coming, omicron is mild

Fishlipandtoeface · 20/12/2021 17:40

It’s not mild we have vaccines.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/12/2021 17:44

Nobody will follow said restrictions anyway, so why bother.

HeronLanyon · 20/12/2021 17:49

The more restrictive the more notice we all need or there will be breaches with people just trying to get home or trying to be stuck in breach accommodation or trying to get to where they can work from home etc etc. FFS for the first time in this whole bloody shit show I’m feeling I have had enough. Losing loved ones has been absolutely awful but this mess on and Boris and co lying on and on and investigating themselves when they know da. Decided to stop mid flow.
Sorry all.
Hope all have some kind of good Christmas

Vapeyvapevape · 20/12/2021 17:51

Ask for the title to be amended Op as it’s incorrect.

TinselTroels · 20/12/2021 17:52

Better not be the bloody 26th I'm working and can't have Christmas Day until 26th. We'll be having it no matter.

Crazykatie · 20/12/2021 17:54

It’s all speculation, but I would bet my money on the 27th and plan accordingly, of course it might not happen, we will see.

paranoidnamechanger · 20/12/2021 17:54

That was leaked yesterday in the Sunday Times. It's hardly a scoop Confused

Chloemol · 20/12/2021 18:04

Wouldn’t surprise me. I am expecting possibly curfews on pubs back, and perhaps SD before Christmas, then Boxing Day onwards much stricter restrictions, including cancelling NYE

We are not the only country going through this, others are in or about to lock down

OrangeBananaFish · 20/12/2021 18:05

@Waxonwaxoff0

I'm going 30th. This is the third time we've tried to go (originally booked for June 2020, then last new year)

Fair enough if we can't go, but I'd like to be able to tell the DC's (well mainly DD2) ASAP - they are aware it may not happen, but until it actually gets cancelled there is still that bit of hope for them.

Whitefire · 20/12/2021 18:26

This is why I cancelled my family Christmas weeks ago, not being smug in saying that, but there is something quite comforting knowing that my plans are not at the mercy of others. I'd be a big ball of anxiety if I had plans.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/12/2021 18:26

whether or not is mild is less important than all the isolation that has to be done by staff in all sorts of work, hospitals, delivery supermarkets etc.

AnyFucker · 20/12/2021 18:29

Nothing firm yet. Pure speculation.

Hazelnutbean · 20/12/2021 19:22

@MrsLargeEmbodied

If it js mild, it begs the question why we're bothering with all the isolation. Unless you're CEV, then if you're boosted, it's unlikely to be more than a bad cold, and probably not even that, even if you older.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/12/2021 19:35

they dont know if it is mild
the original covid was said to be mild in most
