So sad, Dh and ds have both received positive results today. Me and dd going for pcr tests later. That’s Christmas bloody ruined isn’t it? My dd is gutted...all our plans for a lovely family Christmas and Boxing Day out of the window.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I wish I knew, I've been ill and waiting for test results since Monday. I suppose test labs are inundated.

The workforce will grind to a halt.

It’s just the shitty icing on the shitty cake that was 2021 isn’t it? Hugs to all

Really sorry for all those who have got positive test results at this time of year Flowers

Ds had a positive lateral flow this morning. Dd, myself and DH all negative on lateral flow. All been for PCR. Feel really down this evening waiting for results. Just praying for negative pcr and glad we have no real symptoms.

Myself and DH have had covid last year and double jabbed

defs in the same boat. DD tested positive on lateral flow yesterday am. Tested yesterday 10am. Waiting on PCR results. Myself ,DP and DD father (we share custody 50/50) remain negative- she's staying with me for the 10 days.
Haven't told my mum or dad yet who aren't together but were going to be coming up for Xmas until I know definitively. My mum will be beside herself (we lost my grandad in October and this will be the first Xmas without him) urghhhhh nightmare.
Sending solidarity ! Thanks

DS2 tested positive on lateral flow this evening. He was asleep when I got home from work, said he'd been tired all day. Was meant to be going out to the cinema with a friend tomorrow so I said do a test. Also checked his temperature and its 37.8. Had a headache most of the day apparently (he was at school as felt OK this morning).
Booked myself for a pcr as well as him tomorrow as I am not allowed back to work at the vaccination centre until its negative. My usual job are fine with daily negative lateral flows.

DS1 had covid end of November, came out of isolation on the 10th and none of the rest of us caught it, I'm assuming with such a lag this is a new infection from somewhere else as the boys share a room so he'd have caught it sooner than the rest of us if it was from DS1.

I'm not going to PCR the others until a few days later as I am not sure it would show yet so negatives wouldn't mean much. I'll probably get postal ones for DH and DD as they won't be going anywhere for a few days and then get another for myself at the same time if tomorrow's is negative for me.

Same boat here too. DC one positive Monday of LFT, straight for PCR which came back Tuesday, DH and DC2 tested positive on Wednesday. I'm still holding out but now relegated to our bedroom bar quick sorties to the kitchen to make food for everyone. DH is not a good patient at the best of times and is combining superman (clean freak bursts of energy) with hours coughing on the sofa.

Youngest had a temp yesterday and was a little lethargic but judging by the screaming both much better today. I could cry though. It's the uncertainty of it all. I've no idea how DH will be in the morning, nor if I'll manage to avoid it. We've got a caravan not far away that I could potentially move in to if I stay negative (and want to try and keep it that way) but I'm not sure if that is selfish. I do have some health issues though and think if anyone will get it badly it'll be me.

The whole Christmas element is exhausting. Kids are still young enough for Santa but old enough to know when the big day is. We've talked about pushing it back but without knowing if or when I'll test positive nothing can be planned.

Meanwhile my parents are now going to my siblings for Christmas (everyone was coming to us), so we have this massive turkey arriving and no appetites or guests to eat it. I'm so upset as parents are mid 80s and we all know there won't be many left (one has serious progressive illness). Just feels like we've been robbed of the last two Christmases (to be fair of the 6 previous to those we've had one or other parent in hospital for the big day at least twice) and there aren't many magical ones left 😢.

@ScarlettDarling
If your daughter tests negative please let her go ice skating. Let her enjoy whatever she can, the virus is everywhere anyway and if she's negative she won't be spreading it.

Warmduscher · 17/12/2021 22:42

LFT positive for me yesterday - symptoms since Wednesday. DH, DD, DS and me all waiting for PCR results.

We were meant to be spending the weekend with our extended family for a celebration after our Mum’s breast cancer went into remission. Such shitty timing.

We’ve had negative PCRs (including my son who had a positive lateral flow Confused) and so I am tempted to let her go. We’ll carry on doing lateral flows as advised for seven days and have banished dh to the bedroom.

@ScarlettDarling that's good to hear. We are currently waiting for pcr results as dd tested positive on lateral flow. Praying for negative

HipHopBanzai · 18/12/2021 08:51

The same happened to my friend earlier this week. Her DD tested positive on LFT but negative PCR. She had mild symptoms, so school asked her to have another PCR before returning. The second PCR was positive! Test and Trace based the isolation period on the first positive LFT thankfully.
