Can I have your experience of getting a Moderna booster after two AZ jabs

Just wondering about the side effects. I will get the booster no matter what and this is not an anti-vacc question, but I may have a chance to get it before Christmas, but would like an idea of what side effects to expect.
After my first AZ I had aches and pains for one day, but still able to go to work, then had back pain that lingered for a month.
After my second I felt fine the next day, but still can't move my arm properly six months later.
My main worry is not being able to work on the days after the vaccine, which would be my last days at work before a long Christmas break if I move my booster sooner or being too tired to pack and travel to go home.
My original appointment is for a quiet time in January.

I had Covid in January.
Ist Astra Zeneca in March - I woke with hip and back pain but I already had Long Covid so was fatigued anyway.
2nd Astra Zeneca in May - terrible fatigue for 24 hours, spent all day in a chair.

Moderna in November - I felt absolutely terrible for a couple of days but think that together with the Covid in January it was like having a 4th vaccination. My antibody levels must be off the radar!

I had this A A Mod. combo in left arm, plus Flu vacc in right arm.
Felt a bit subdued the next day but that was only problem. 2 Weeks ago.
Totally random how one reacts.

tootsierubs · 18/12/2021 12:45

My partner had his Moderna booster Wednesday afternoon. He's had an extremely sore arm and flu like symptoms since Wednesday night, feeling much better today.

superram · 18/12/2021 12:47

I was fine, not even a sore arm. Had it 9 days ago and tested positive today. However, I feel fine and am sad I can’t run.

ginslinger · 18/12/2021 12:52

I had this combination with no side effects although I had a slightly achy arm from the injection site. I'm 65

TheTrinity · 18/12/2021 12:56

I had this same combo. #1 Astra, zero side effects, #2 Astra a bit of arm ache, #3 Moderna mid afternoon followed by severe arm ache in the evening/night affecting sleep. Felt a bit poorly plus the arm ache for about 2 days before all the effects suddenly wore off. I worried I couldn't drive but it was fine. Hope you'll be ok.

LockdownCheeseToastie · 18/12/2021 13:02

Family members have had this combo- some felt hot/cold/headachey/tired for 36hrs rest just had a slightly sore arm and a mild headache.

steppemum · 18/12/2021 13:11

I had same combo.
no side effects at all after first 2 jabs.

I was really ill last week (hospital) and had my booster appointment on wed, with doctors approval I went for my booster.
I was veyr poorly that evening, fever, chills, nausea (all on the list of possible side effetcs) and then surprisingly very sore armpit which is swollen glands. (still 3 days later)
I would have been well enough for work on Thursday though, just not 100%.

I think my body reacted badly because I had been so ill

NancyDrawed · 18/12/2021 13:16

I had Moderna after 2 x AZ

Jab was at 9 am. By the evening I felt very tired (fell asleep on the sofa) and my arm was hurting quite a bit.
The following day my arm hurt / ached more, but not painkiller level.
The day after that - nothing.

AchillesLastStand · 18/12/2021 13:27

I’ve just had my Moderna booster this morning after two AZs. First AZ was horrendous and I swore I wouldn’t have another one. I did and was was fine on the second AZ.

So far from the Moderna my arm is aching although it’s not as bad as it was a few hours ago, and it’s still early days. I’m hoping I made so many antibodies on my first vaccine that I will sail through this one. I’m still using it as an excuse for having a PJ day on the sofa! I will update tomorrow if anything changes.

Bigfathairyones · 18/12/2021 13:29

DH had it 2 days ago - headache for 2 days, but mild enough to be reduced with paracetamol. Felt a bit poopy yesterday but still went to work. Feels fine today.

Wolfcub · 18/12/2021 13:37

I was totally fine other than a sore arm. I was worried as I was really quite poorly after my first jab. I needn't have been worried at all

PearlclutchersInc · 18/12/2021 13:40

No problems with either of the AZ jabs, felt crap for 24-36 hours after the Moderna booster.

Fine now.

Juja · 19/12/2021 21:43

I had my Moderna booster 8 days ago and still feeling rotten. Achy joints, headache, ear ache: I had the flu jab the week before the booster while I had a horrible cold. Cold improved but Moderna has really set me back. No energy, hoping to recover for Christmas

FKATondelayo · 19/12/2021 21:45

AZ 1&2
Moderna booster
No side effects at all any time.

MajesticallyAwkward · 19/12/2021 21:56

AZ for first 2, achey and shivery for about 12 hours after the first but nothing after 2nd.
Moderna booster and had a sore arm for a couple of days (that the toddler punched at every opportunity) but nothing else. Lots of other people I know had the same and the worst side effects were an achey arm.

OldaRailer · 19/12/2021 22:01

Sore arm,a bit tired after Moderna.
(I had terrible chills with first AZ and felt ill for 24 hours. Felt headachey after second for a day.)

Neolara · 19/12/2021 22:02

I had moderna booster on Friday evening and spent most of yesterday in bed feeling very tired, headachy and achey with a slight temperature. I've felt much better today, although still achey. However, I felt much worse after my first az vaccine - symptoms were more intense and lasted for 48 hours, not 24.

AchillesLastStand · 19/12/2021 22:03

Update to my post above, after my Moderna booster on Saturday morning I’m now feeling quite unwell. I have throbbing pain in my arm, strangely not on the injection site but the underside of my arm and in my armpit. I feel flushed in the face and have a strange spaced headache that comes and goes. Also I have stomach cramps but thankfully no nausea yet.

I’m hoping I will feel a lot better before Christmas and I don’t want this to put anyone off getting the vaccine. For some strange reason I seem to have delayed reactions to Covid vaccinations, but at least I know I’m having an immune response.

gannett · 19/12/2021 22:06

DP had this. Completely laid low for 24 hours after his first AZ, starting that evening. Could barely get downstairs. No noticeable side effects after his second AZ. He felt a bit woozy and quite tired the evening of his Moderna booster, and intermittently woozy the next day, but nothing that prevented everyday life.

LoLo2020 · 19/12/2021 22:08

Sore arm for a couple of days and a little bit tired but nothing else

KnottyKnitting · 19/12/2021 22:08

I had this. No reactions to either AZ or Moderna booster.

DH had a slight reaction to first AZ but nothing from second or Moderna booster.

sansucre · 19/12/2021 22:28

Horribly ill with flu-like symptoms after my first AZ jab but they abated within 72 hours. Continued to feel rough for a few weeks.

No ill-effects after my second AZ jab.

Moderna was fine for the first 18 hours then arm started to hurt to the degree I couldn't put weight on it or lift it. Slight chills, felt v. light-headed and fainted, and then relentless nausea for the best part of a week. Slight upset stomach too. I also felt very discombobulated for several days, almost like my brain wasn't working properly as I couldn't string a sentence together and struggled to comprehend what people were saying to me/text.

Fine now, thankfully!
