Been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID

I have been in contact with a family member who has tested positive for COVID.

I have a LFT test here at home. Should I take this test even though I am showing no symptoms? Or would I get a negative result?

In other words, should I wait until I am showing symptoms in order to get a more accurate result?

Have already ordered PCR tests for myself and DD from gov.uk website.

Just wondering if I should take the LFT first?

@somehowsunshine

LFT are for people without symptoms. Have you been under a rock all this time?
Lol I think so! 😂 I've never had COVID so far since March 2020 so this is the first time I have been alerted to being in close contact with someone who tested positive so yes, perhaps I have been under a rock this entire time 😄

Lateral flows work perfectly well with symptoms, they just aren't as accurate as PCR so may miss some cases. The test doesn't know whether you have symptoms or not.

I know, right. It’s a mystery how come we’ve got so many cases. 🤔🤯

@Etinoxaurus yeah, what a mystery. Even though I tested negative and have never had COVID since it's arrival in the UK back in March 2020. What a mystery, indeed. 🙄
