Hugo’s Daily Updates Are Back! Vaccination Positivity Thread!

During the big vaccination push at the start of the year we had a lovely series of threads running to keep up moral and celebrate our wonderful NHS as we watched the numbers of vaccinated people go up and up. It feels like we need that positivity again right now!

I was pleased to see on Twitter that our pal Hugo is back with his daily figure updates, so what better time to start a new thread!

This is not a place to discuss the vaccines themselves or to share negative stories. Let’s keep it positive!

That’s splendid Cavemum.

I was really pleased to see that 50.1% of the over 12 population in my local area are now boosted.

CaveMum · 18/12/2021 11:58

I’m boosted! Got my Moderna this morning and now awaiting my 5G connection Wink

Really looking forward to seeing the numbers over the next few days, I think we could actually hit the 1 million per day by Monday at this rate.

Figures a little down on Thursday’s numbers but still doubled in a week.

Remember when Blocky first appeared?
And queries if we would reach 90% single vaccinated?

Well, we were at 89.4% for 12 years and over yesterday, not sure what % for over 18s - presumably over 90% by now.

FuzzyPuffling · 19/12/2021 15:59

Hmmm...well I used to be a stalwart on the positivity threads until I got crucified for suggesting that covid might be rife in schools and spreading from there to the community.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 19/12/2021 16:00

Hugo says that figures for Wales not yet included in today's figures, probably will be the first 1,000,000+ day.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 19/12/2021 16:04

The official figures are out, presumably including Wales.

126,533,737 vaccinations given yearerday!!

Theredjellybean · 19/12/2021 16:05

Lovely positivity... Such a relief after endless doom mongering.
I have jabbed 1800 people over last six months.. Not huge but I'm fitting it in amongst a six day work week.. So I'm un stealthily boasting.
I love vaccination clinic... People so happy to get their jabs..

Imfedupwithallofthis · 19/12/2021 16:06

Ignore that!!

Not huge?! How many of the rest of us have helped 1800 people in our spare time?

Thank you and you deserve to non stealth boast! Flowers

Yay I worked at the vax clinic yesterday and today. Lots of merry Christmas’s going on. Even better I returned home to a lovely Sunday roast cooked by dh xxx.

BigWoollyJumpers · 19/12/2021 17:12

Thank you to the jabbers on this thread - great job!

A question.... you may, or may not know. And obviously this will vary by region, but no walk-ins near us, and have both DD's home for two weeks over Xmas. Do you think we can get them done at the local GP service? DH and I had ours two weeks ago, and I know they do casual walk-ins, but wonder whether they have to stick to only GP registered patients. Both girls are uni registered, and have had invitations from their uni GP's, but obviously now home, so no use. They can both get vaxxed via NHS website in early Jan, but would love to get them done before then!

Mrsherdwick · 19/12/2021 17:19

@BigWoollyJumpers - sorry I consent/vaccinate at a big vaccination centre. We do walk-ins and take anyone/everybody. Suggest you phone your gp tomorrow and ask. Hope your dds get vaccinated soon.

Namechangeforthis88 · 19/12/2021 17:24

I was boosted at a mass vaccination centre yesterday. I arrived a few minutes before it was meant to open and it was going like a fair. We went past a couple of places in the city that had long queues, so DH went to the one I had been to, only waited a few minutes (it's harder to get to). They must all going at full capacity from the moment they open. Thank t jabbers!

CaveMum · 19/12/2021 17:31

Thank you Jabbers!

So pleased to see this thread going again!

I was a fairly early adopter on the booster front - had mine at the end of October, 6 months and 2 days after my 2nd jab. DH was even earlier (start of October) as he was working in care when the vaccination rollout started.

sashagabadon · 19/12/2021 17:43

Great vax numbers today, almost a million which is quite mind blowing. And nearly 50% over 12’s boosted Xmas Smile

RubyViolet · 19/12/2021 19:08

Thanks to all the jabbers !! This is wonderful to read.

CaveMum · 20/12/2021 14:05

Another 800,000+ day on Sunday.

Though Hugo needs to pull his finger out if we’re going to get to 1m+ Wink

Blocky is showing that nationally over 12s are 50.4% boosted. We’re over halfway!

Well done all you jabbers.

PuzzledObserver · 20/12/2021 17:26

Whoa, we’re halfway there,
Whoa, jabbing everywhere,
Omicron, we don’t want to share
Whoa, boosting to take care….

PuzzledObserver · 20/12/2021 17:28

There’s also been an uptick in first doses in the last few days, so maybe some reluctant people have been persuaded.

CaveMum · 20/12/2021 17:32

Glad the Bon Jovi is being rolled out again!
