Any ideas what might happen in Wales?

So following today’s press conference how likely do we think it there’ll be further restrictions in Wales before Christmas? I’m supposed to be going on the 22nd (am in England, mum is in N Wales), starting to worry now that they’ll ban travel! When is the next update?

Obviously I know no one here definitely knows, unless Eluned is a MNer, I’m just stressing myself out!

The news from last night was much less restrictive than I was expecting. Our family are coming from North England and were afraid they would have to cancel but it's looking ok so far.

I will however be glued to the tv for the announcement at lunch time.

@110APiccadilly thank you. That's reassuring.

@Summertime16 - I find the nickname 'Dripford' really offensive.

MinesaBottle · 17/12/2021 13:42

Really pleased we can still travel. It’s shit news for those who work in nightclubs and events though.

@Andacherryonthetop

I’m glad no restrictions over Xmas but am surprised, thought drakeford would have introduced them earlier.
He has form for not introducing restrictions until hours before they are about to come into force though....Still remember the insane queues when he announced mid afternoon on 19 dec that non essential shops would have to close at midnight that day....

Next decision will be Monday by the looks of things...

For goodness' sake, what's the point of having weekly reviews if you also do random stuff on a Monday?!

arianasky · 17/12/2021 15:17

@110APiccadilly exactly 🙄

luckylavender · 17/12/2021 15:20

@110APiccadilly - gosh, fancy having a leader who took a global pandemic seriously? Some people will moan about anything.

We're England, parents Wales and are supposed to be coming to us next week. Now having to do a mad dash tomorrow to collect DCs presents in case they are banned from travelling.

MinesaBottle · 17/12/2021 15:50

He was asked about travel from England and said a ban wasn’t on the cards.

You never know though given the last-minute lockdown last year. Fingers crossed!

Some people treat government decisions as if they are removed from the public health threat, which I don't think is fair.
