Panto - would you go?

Just that. Got expensive panto tickets for Saturday. Booked months ago. Kids are 5 and 6 and would love it. They haven’t been before.

But. Aware of risk - worried about possible omnicron and isolating over Xmas. Can’t get booster for another week but have all had Covid in the last 8 weeks. No idea if this helps or not.

No idea yet if it is possible to move the panto tickets until after Xmas - I deliberately booked then for just before Xmas as I thought they atmosphere would be great. However clearly a panto is lots of people packed into a badly ventilated space. Even in masks….

What would you do?

I've ordered some n95 masks to go to panto this weekend. My family have all had it in the last few weeks but I haven't and don't want to be isolating, but still want to have a great time.

Yes

I would go. We are booked for the 24th (rescheduled from 24th Dec 2020) and have everything crossed it will be on/we'll make it. As a PP, it is these sorts of trips that make Xmas IMO. It probably also makes a difference that we will be at home just the 4 of us on Xmas day, so having to isolate on 25th would make no change to our plans to that day.
In the last month I have been to a gig and clubbing, DH has been to his work Xmas party and the aforementioned gig, and DCs have had a huge outbreak in their small school which has seen 2/3s of kids positive. We have evaded it so far (been testing regularly) and the theatre seems less risky than the above, as even crammed in a theatre there will be better social distancing than drunk people and small children are capable of!
The fact you have recently had covid would make it a no-brainer for me.

Yes I would go.

Not pants, but theatre tickets for show aimed at children in the week before Christmas and similar dilemma here. Up until yesterday I was comfortable enough going, but I’m now hearing about infection rates from Christmas parties locally and I’m not so sure!

Mittenmob · 14/12/2021 07:53

I'd go. They've had so much they've missed. Xmas day can be done anywhere.

SunflowersInTheShade · 14/12/2021 07:54

I have tickets for next Tuesday - wondering similar.
We will have had our boosters by then so maybe it's all right? Isn't that the point of the boosters?

venusmay · 14/12/2021 08:03

Dds currently tested positive for Covid, I've been with them for five days at home and I've not caught it. They're out of isolation soon and I think we will risk going to our panto and other experiences we have booked. So far I've tested negative every day so think we will give it a go.

Metallicalover · 14/12/2021 08:05

Assuming that your still sending your children to school for their last week (they prob have more chance of catching in there) then yes I would go! I prefer the lead up to Christmas better than Christmas anyways!

MLMshouldbeillegal · 14/12/2021 08:08

We went to the panto last week and had an amazing time. It was SO good to be back in the theatre and I haven't seen my youngest laughing so hard in months.

So yes, go. It will do you the world of good.

Joystir59 · 14/12/2021 08:08

I've got tickets for the 23rd. Will be going. Will be testing every day though.

FionnulaTheCooler · 14/12/2021 08:13

We've got tickets for the weekend and as long as none of us have symptoms or have been put on isolation we're going. Also booked for an indoor funfair the day after boxing day which we'll also be going to as long as it isn't cancelled.

CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 14/12/2021 08:28

Depends what christmas plans are. If you are seeing someone else xmas day then I'd not go.

gogohm · 14/12/2021 08:40

Go, wear masks (medical grade new ones) including kids

mistermagpie · 14/12/2021 11:50

We are still planning to go this weekend. Unless the government says we can't. We will be triple vaxxed (the adults) and two of our three children have had Covid so maybe that will help?

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 14/12/2021 11:54

We’re going on Saturday! 😀
