Dh had his booster, now has a cough.

I don't see how they cannot be related, dh had his Pfizer booster on Thursday AM the same evening he felt cold, headache the usual noted side effects, but he also developed a cough that he still has now. He can barely speak.

I understand that Pfizer doesn't contain a live virus, but it seems very odd that he's only had this constant cough since his booster.

Has anyone else had similar?

It’s just a coincidence. I have the same symptoms as do several workmates. None of us have recently had boosters and we’re all covid negative. Just a cold.

Trixiefirecracker · 12/12/2021 08:20

It’s highly doubtful it’s a side effect, more likely a coincidence given that it’s cold and flu season.

SpringRainbow · 12/12/2021 08:25

So since he regularly tests for work I am assuming that getting his booster isn’t the only time he left the house recently.

So it is perfectly reasonable assumption that he has had plenty of opportunities to catch ANY of the number of bugs and viruses we have circulating at the moment.

It is just a complete coincidence that he has caught one of them so close to his booster vaccine.

Get a PCR.

Whatdoyawannado · 12/12/2021 08:34

I agree that it's not a side effect. My DH's first symptom of covid was a mild dry cough. PCR.

Mammyloveswine · 12/12/2021 09:33

@MoggyP

New continuous cough - get a PCR

How on earth are people still missing this message?!?

Honestly the amount of absolute morons still stating "my lateral flow was negative"... you have symptoms you need a bloody pcr!!! Winds me right up!

Seen loads of it as a teacher lately too.., kids coming in coughing up a lung, temp of 39 "I did a lateral abs it was negative so they've had calpol"

The govt needs to do a reminder public service vid reminding people!!

ivykaty44 · 12/12/2021 09:40

The symptoms are

Continuous cough
Temperature
Different taste and smell or loss

I have a heavy cold but don’t have the 3 symptoms above ⬆️ and continue to use LFT as recommended

You don't see how they can't be related? Are you serious? There are lots of viruses that can cause a cough - including covid so he does need a PCR.

The vaccine can trigger an immune response that could explain the headache and feeling cold (he probably had a mild fever) but it's not going to cause a cough.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 12/12/2021 10:08

Just seemed like a very unusual side effect.

Oh hi Brick wall, may I bash my head up against you please?

It is not a side effect!
Seriously, this post is the epitome of why the world is in such a mess. Simple rules...new cough? Isolate and test!
I do hope he has isolated since he got this cough and will continue to do so before he gets his results!

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 12/12/2021 11:16

Do a test. It could just be a cough/cold, plenty of those around too.

AvocadoPlant · 12/12/2021 11:25

We had similar after our booster, then got a text from TnT to say we had been in contact with someone with Covid that day (getting the booster was the only time we went out that day 🤷‍♀️).
Several LFTs and a PCR later all were negative, we just had a really horrible cold that 12 days on we’re only just getting over.

WildFlowerBees · 12/12/2021 12:25

He's done a PCR, he has no temperature, no loss of taste or smell etc feels absolutely fine and it's not ok to be abused by people because I asked a question. To us it seems really odd that he only began his cough after his booster, the same time as he had the usual booster side effects. Calm the fuck down.

Probably caught something when queuing for the jab!

Elizabeth110100 · 12/12/2021 12:41

I had my booster on Thursday and I have a cough, started yesterday. So I got a PCR which is what you need to do if you get a cough. Lots of viruses about and very unlikely to be related to the booster.

tangyandsalty · 12/12/2021 13:00

Continuous cough is a bit of a red herring - DH has just had covid and it was far from continuous. It was a new cough that he hasn't had before, but it was just a brief cough, a few times during the day. It was only me saying "what's that cough all about? You need to go for a pcr" that prompted him to test.

Coronachristmas21 · 12/12/2021 13:06

My mother felt very ill with cold and cough like symptoms after her booster but I believe it was moderna. She had negative pcrs.

FruitToast · 12/12/2021 13:15

The mRNA vaccines can't cause disease so he's got a virus of some kind. I would also say I don't have a cough, fever or loss of taste or smell. I have hay fever type symptoms (itchy nose and eyes). I've definitely got covid. Not confirmed by PCR yet (results pending) but strong positive LFT and 6 year old DD positive. I'm triple vaxxed but she loves doing gross stuff like sneezing into my open mouth whilst I was eating lunch. The government really need to update their advice around what constitutes a covid symptom!

DockOTheBay · 12/12/2021 13:18

@WildFlowerBees

LFT is negative, he'll do a PCR also. He's required to test frequently for work. Just seemed like a very unusual side effect.
Its not a side effect. He just caught a cold or other virus a few days before his booster 🙄
whitehorsesdonotlie · 12/12/2021 13:31

😂😂😂 oh, op. Really?

He hasn't seen anyone anywhere or come into contact with anyone he could have caught a cough from??

SawdustandHay · 12/12/2021 14:29

My post-Covid cough seemed to get worse for about 48 hours after Moderna, but it is unpredictable anyway.
Not a stupid question.

JustLikea · 12/12/2021 15:03

Coincidence

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 15:09

Strangely enough DH and I have colds and coughs. DS has covid.

We've all done PCRs. We've been doing LFT daily. We have friends with both covid and noncovid coughs atm. (And given who they work for and how much they've also tested its definitely a noncovid illness going about.).

As bonkers as it sounds its possible to get vaccinated and get covid or a cough or cold whilst doing so.

Cos its thats time of year.

Coronachristmas21 · 12/12/2021 16:02

@RedToothBrush same as us. We have a mix of non covid coughs and covid in the house. Those with covid aren't even coughing 🤷‍♀️

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2021 16:42

Its actually infuriating!

DS isn't ill at all. He's bouncing about.

Me? I've been negative so many times in the last week its ridiculous. I've had chills, a cold and a cough. Not covid.

DS is due back to school later this week, and I'm kind of dreading it for this reason. Its going to look like I'm lying through my teeth about being negative. I'm not. Though I am beginning to doubt my sanity on this myself.

I don't want covid - my booster is booked in for not this week but the next and my last two jabs have been awful - so the very last thing I want to do is have my booster when I shouldn't be cos I've just had covid. So I actively need to know if I get covid or not right now.

I had a text from my GP the other day reminding us to get PCRs if we have symptoms.
