Over 30s can book boosters online now (apparently)

Just picked this up from socials though cover age still says 40 - apparently it’s before it changes formally tomorrow

Yep - I've just booked DH's for Wednesday (he's 38). I'm CEV and we were told we had to take a consultant's letter with my diagnosis and drugs detailed to a vaccination centre in order for him to get one - thankfully that palaver has been avoided!

SnailandtheWail · 12/12/2021 06:59

Yup, I’m 35 and booked mine last night

Onatree · 12/12/2021 06:59

Am 36 and went to a walk in centre yesterday and got my booster- age no bar. Word had spread through class WhatsApp group and yes indeed they did it! I got my third Pfizer :)

WildWombat · 12/12/2021 07:01

Booked mine and DH's this morning, but the choice of venues was rubbish compared to jabs 1 and 2. We're having to go to a really random place. None of our usual local places are offering it. Weird.

meh12 · 12/12/2021 07:20

Thank you just booked and there are several pharmacies in my town doing it, it was nigh on impossible to book in my town last time. Not doing till after Xmas though.

pommedeterre · 12/12/2021 07:22

But for when? Dh (mid forties) has had his booked for after Xmas for ages. Was checking everyday for earlier slots. Has now caught covid. Fuck off Boris.

SnailandtheWail · 12/12/2021 07:24

Mine was easily booked for the day after tomorrow at the vaccination centre I had my first two doses.

meh12 · 12/12/2021 07:25

@pommedeterre earliest I could see was Dec 18th, it depended on the venue, some appear to be shutting Xmas hols (2 weeks) I'm 33 last jab in July. Hope your DH is ok.

Fuckinellitsme · 12/12/2021 07:28

What's nuts is that I had to wait six months for my booster and only had it last week (I would have been very happy to have had it sooner, particularly as since my second jab I've started immunosuppressant drugs). DH is able to have his after 5 and DD 24 is having hers today at a walk in centre, 4 months after her second!

ZippyZap · 12/12/2021 07:41

Does this mean the usual walk in places for boosters will let me walk in next week for it? They are still saying over 40s walk in at the moment on the website but hoping I can walk in next week once the rules change to over 30s

Wooky8 · 12/12/2021 07:43

Does it still have to be six months since your second dose?

lurker101 · 12/12/2021 07:44

Is this accepting over 30s after 3 months or after 6 months?

SnailandtheWail · 12/12/2021 07:49

I had my second dose in august, so not six months.

TeacherMa · 12/12/2021 07:53

Scotland NHS inform site still saying under 40s can’t and we have to wait for an update from gov before booking.

FinallySomeNormality · 12/12/2021 07:59

Yep - I heard this last night and managed to book mine and DH (32) for next week! Very happy.

The NHS main front page still said over 40s only though - but once you put in details it did confirm I was eligible and gave me a large range of dates starting next Sat onwards.

lurker101 · 12/12/2021 08:01

Amazing thanks @SnailandtheWail

Fuckinellitsme · 12/12/2021 08:01

You can book two from months after your second dose according to the website, but I think the date for the booster appointment itself will be three months after your second jab. Definitely not six months anymore.

RumHoney · 12/12/2021 08:16

OH (40 in January, just past 4 months from dose 2) managed to book an appointment for tomorrow when he logged on this morning. He was going to be the only unboosted adult at Christmas if he hadn't got an appointment, so glad that we'll all now be done :)

OliveTree75 · 12/12/2021 08:23

I'm 33 and booked mine for next saturday

fedup078 · 12/12/2021 08:24

I might be half asleep but how are people booking online as the website says you can't if under 40?

EasterIssland · 12/12/2021 08:25

My choice of venues are crap. My dh has many more closer ones (he’s 43) so going to wait for a bit in case new venues appear oe will go to a walk in centre

SnailandtheWail · 12/12/2021 08:26

@fedup078 the front page does yes but it lets you proceed when you put in the relavent details

LBOCS2 · 12/12/2021 08:26

@fedup078

I might be half asleep but how are people booking online as the website says you can't if under 40?
They've changed the parameters on the booking system so even though the website front page says you can't, the booking system is allowing you to do so - where it wouldn't before.

I booked mine last night for Thursday morning. There were some places that didn't have anything until Jan so it's worth checking around.

DailyFailstinks · 12/12/2021 08:34

Thanks @Wingingit15- just booked.

fedup078 · 12/12/2021 08:36

I've booked it
The email then says you won't be able to get it if you don't have a referral letter but as the rules are about to change I presume that won't be the case
