If you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and have had the booster, did it cause you any problems? TIA

No issues and I have way too many other autoimmune conditions too! I had Pfizer after two AZ and didn't have even a sore arm (unlike the flu jab arm!)

I have Hashimoto's and had Pfizer booster today. Got sore arm but nothing else yet. Will let you know if that changes. Didn't have much reaction to first two jabs either.

I think there was some query / research about actual Covid doing something to some people's thyroids (those with healthy ones?) - though I think that can be a reaction to a range of viruses. So it possible that anyone with a current fluctuating issue might be affected.

Thyroids are v complicated, a few different antibodies are involved.

TUK poll seems pretty representative of most people's reactions, and most found the booster was inconsequential despite the first ones giving side effects.

Some say an actual Covid infection can sometimes mean you later react more to the jab. As body is primed to fight it,

Thank you. Will keep an eye on this thread for further replies.

interesting as i was just discussing this last night with someone in similar position, we had both come to conclusion that Pfizer better compared to moderna for those with auto-immune reactions. My family member ,who had adverse auto-immune flare after first AZ and wasn't allowed a second by her GP has (finally!) been invited for a (specifically)Pfizer second jab so perhaps there is some research becoming available (took then long enough to get back to her!)

s1h2o3na · 12/12/2021 12:05

as per the poll i also wouldn't choose to have the flu jab plus booster at the same time...think this could be a bit overwhelming for those with hashis but aware this is my personal opinion. P.s. had 2 x pfizer for initial jabs, was off colour for week each time but otherwise no flare for me so happy with going for pfizer booster....but it's so apparent there is such a personal response to jabs and at least there is more than 1 option of vaccine type.

Has his here too, 2 x AstraZeneca then half dose Moderna booster. Sore arm after booster (flu jab in same arm), felt a bit tired and had chills for a day or two but fine now.

SSOYS · 12/12/2021 16:19

I have hashimotos. No effects at all from my first two jabs, mild flu like symptoms from the booster- I was fine after a couple of ibuprofen and a good night’s sleep. All Moderna.

Boosterquery · 12/12/2021 18:03

Thank you for the replies. Seems that most people have not suffered longer term side effects from the booster.

I have hashimotos and had 2x AZ with zero side effects and1 x Pfizer booster with a slightly sore arm a week ago. The fact I have hashimotos didn't even cross my mind in relation to the vaccines or booster until I read this thread - can I ask why your sister has concerns?

jackiebenimble · 12/12/2021 19:40

I have it. And have never given it any thought. Haven't noticed anything.

VeryScary · 12/12/2021 20:18

My husband has Hashis. He’s had 2 AZ and a Pfizer booster. Nothing except a sore arm and a day feeling tired.
