What IS the fuss about omicron?

558 replies

GingerHouse · 10/12/2021 19:47

In all seriousness, data shows that not a single person has died from omicron and that’s in countries that have low vaccine uptake too.

The virus is going to mutate all the time and as things are showing this variant is very contagious and the vaccine doesn’t work as well against it, but it’s mild to almost everybody.

I feel like this is mass panic and for what reason?! I understand wearing a mask where applicable to help reduce the spread but I just don’t get it! Is this going to happen every winter forevermore?

@Beadebaser

Lockdowns have been used all over Europe/the World. So the majority of healthcare professionals think this is the best strategy to control Covid when infection rates spiral. I think they probably know better than you or I.
Otherwise healthy adults aren’t dying of covid, even less so now most people are vaccinated. Most teachers will be younger than 60.

@heldinadream

Exactly . I know of a company in Germany that has stopped production for the first time EVER as they have too many people off with covid .

That’s what I find astonishing in the likes of the US. Happily let a poor 40 year old die of cancer or any other illness if they don’t have insurance and can’t afford to pay. Those deaths are fine… but covid deaths are not.

Imagine the hundreds of thousands or even millions of people that die over there needlessly, because they can’t afford to pay for the care?! And no one will step it to save them, no one seems to care about that (young people in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s)

So forgive me if I don’t take much heed of what other counties do…

Starcup · 11/12/2021 18:11

(They hardly set the moral grounding)

@starcup Do you really actually believe that?

EmmaOvary · 11/12/2021 21:39

"Otherwise healthy adults aren’t dying of covid, "

Have you had your head stuck in a hole for the last 18 months???

I think you have after that comment……!!! Are you mad? You think that healthy adults that have been vaccinated are dying in their droves?? Are you on ok smack?

@kittensinthekitchen

@starcup Do you really actually believe that?

I can’t believe a rational adult, one who is able to critically evaluate a situation, would actually question, if otherwise healthy adults are dying in their droves of covid?

You must be joining or looking for a reaction? If you think otherwise healthy adults (younger than say 60) that have been vaccinated are the ones dying in hospital, you are utterly deluded….

kittensinthekitchen · 11/12/2021 23:15

So you don't believe that any previously healthy adult has died from covid?

milkyaqua · 11/12/2021 23:16

Erm, otherwise healthy adults - unvaccinated otherwise healthy adults - are dying in hospital.

Starcup · 11/12/2021 23:23

@kittensinthekitchen

So you don't believe that any previously healthy adult has died from covid?
No but it’s not the norm is it?!! It would be extremely unlikely ffs

It’s like saying ‘healthy people die of colds…..’ yeah but about 1/1 million

Starcup · 11/12/2021 23:24

@milkyaqua

Erm, otherwise healthy adults - unvaccinated otherwise healthy adults - are dying in hospital.
Errr about 1 in a million, unless they’re vulnerable etc……….
kittensinthekitchen · 11/12/2021 23:29

"No healthy people have died of covid"
"No healthy people have died of covid?"
"Well yeah, obviously some have, but no healthy people have died of covid!!"

Time to put down the booze.

Starcup · 11/12/2021 23:32

Time to put the smack down if that’s your argument 😂
EmmaOvary · 11/12/2021 23:33

Yeah. And a lot of people are vulnerable. Do they not matter? A lot of people are unvaccinated or otherwise unprotected, many because they can't be, or are immunocompromised. No, I'm not on smack, thanks.

Starcup · 11/12/2021 23:36

10 ‘healthy’ young, otherwise healthy people, with no underlying health conditions have died of covid in 18 minus…. Out of over 150,000…..

Do you understand how statistics work?

Do you undesirables what statistics are?

Di you understand than more adults die in car crashes each year?

Do you understand that people have freak accidents? Do you think people should stop playing sports, for examples, because 10 people does from contact sports?

Starcup · 11/12/2021 23:39

@EmmaOvary

Yeah. And a lot of people are vulnerable. Do they not matter? A lot of people are unvaccinated or otherwise unprotected, many because they can't be, or are immunocompromised. No, I'm not on smack, thanks.
They matter but don’t try and twist the stats to suit your agenda.

Vulnerable adults and people m don’t equal otherwise healthy adults do they? Make your mind up! Those vulnerable to covid with. E vulnerable to lots of other viruses/bacteria/diseases that wouldn’t affect the ‘average’ adult…….

EmmaOvary · 11/12/2021 23:42

Perhaps you should have a look to see what the government classes as an underlying condition. You probably have one yourself. Most people probably do. So I'm not the one twisting stats to suit my agenda.

kittensinthekitchen · 11/12/2021 23:42

Do you understand how statistics work?

Do you understand how counting works?

10 =/= 0

Now go be aggressive elsewhere with your obsession with smack.

And that’s why people are bothered because it affects them. Plenty of obese people about, that can often equate to diabetes.

Guess what though, diet can affect diabetes , exercise can prevent obesity.

EmmaOvary · 11/12/2021 23:49

@Starcup right so it's just fat, lazy people dying of Covid. Their fault, is your subtext? What a vile specimen you are. Merry Christmas.

LuluBlakey1 · 11/12/2021 23:49

@Starcup 'yeah and no deaths in under 24 year olds'

Not the case according to news today.
