Do we think gyms and pools will close again?

Or just go to restricted numbers?

Gym and swim keeps me going in the winter. It's too dark outside to run at this time of year.

Better bloody not. We went online during the lockdowns which was ok. Actually going to the gym keeps me sane though.

I hope not. I really missed swimming. I'm currently much fitter than I've been for years, and the lightest I've weighed since 2005. A lot of that has been down to swimming (and also yoga.) I can do yoga at home, though I prefer a proper class, but I have failed to gain the sort of income and lifestyle where I have my own swimming pool...

My own pool is my dream.

@Immaculatemisconception

Data is saying the new variant is much less serious.
That's what I'm reading, more transmissible but less serious. Which is what was expected as that's how viruses survive.

I work at a gym and swimming pool a d the staff are dropping like flies with Covid, especially the lifeguards and swimming teachers presumably because you can’t ventilate an indoor swimming pool. I won’t use the gym at the moment as even though our staff clean it constantly, if something be with Covid is exercising in there’re they are panting and spluttering and coughing and it’s airborne so it’s everywhere. The hardcore exercise addicts that use out facilities just won’t stop going for a few days if they feel ill and are unlikely to even take a PCR test because they’re that addicted to exercise that they don’t want to be stopped from coming. I don’t feel it’s safe at the moment. But I don’t think they’ll be closed again either.

Swimming pools should never have been closed - one of the most short sighted closures of all.
God I hate all this SO MUCH Angry

It better not and it's an industry that should never have closed. Covid can have a massive impact on obese or overweight individuals, with studies showing now it looks as though coronavirus hides in fat cells. And yet they closed the fitness industry, sending people's physical and mental health down. Madness.

I don't think any business will close because that would mean the gov has to financially support them, instead I think they'll introduce many restrictions on businesses like covid passports, reduced capacity or time openings , masks etc making it harder to access or a less enjoyable experience meaning people will make their own decisions not attend places. I feel sorry for any business that relies on footfall at the moment its going to be incredibly hard for them to keep financially viable
