Anyone been on a night out and NOT caught covid?

Recently I mean. DS is ECV and has stupidly decided to go on a big night out tomorrow. I can't sleep now for worrying. He's only had 2 jabs and has decided that he is done with it all and is not having any booster or third dose. He's young and daft and while he feels invincible I can't sleep for worrying. Anyone been clubbing and not caught it? It feels like the perfect covid soup. Sad

Socialise al the time at weekends in crowded pubs - dancing mixing with strangers etc - LTF twice a week for my job- always negative.

sheeplikessleep · 10/12/2021 06:42

I went to an indoor Butlin's music festival last month, 3 days, fully expected to catch it and tested for two weeks after and negative. But I heard of others who went and caught.

munchbunch12 · 10/12/2021 06:44

I've been to the theatre once and bars and restaurants several times. The bars were packed too, although people weren't dancing like in clubs. I still haven't caught covid, and no-one I've been out with has either.

peboh · 10/12/2021 06:47

Yes, several. I go out once to twice a month (out out) wether that be concerts, the theatre nightclubs etc. I also regularly go to the pub with friends for dinner and catch up and haven't yet caught covid.
My thought process is if i'm going to get it, i'm going to get it. Im 28, I don't want to just survive, I want to live and thrive. Locking myself in and refusing social events would be detrimental to my mental health and i'm a firm believer that mental health is just as important as physical.

Mybalconyiscracking · 10/12/2021 06:47

Oh don’t be so silly OP, how many people do you think there are in the U.K. How many new cases are reported on the news?
Millions and millions of people are leading more or less normal lives and not catching Covid, of course they are,

ComDummings · 10/12/2021 06:48

Every single person I know who has had covid caught covid it from their children who had it first or from work if they work in health or social care jobs.

polkadotpixie · 10/12/2021 06:53

Yes I've been out loads, pubs/gigs/restaurants etc and didn't catch it. I caught it from my son who brought it home from preschool

yougottasmilesobright · 10/12/2021 06:53

Yes, nights out, football matches, festivals, the last two something we as a family of five attended and none of us caught Covid.

JingleJangler · 10/12/2021 06:56

HB went to meet some mates in london last Friday. They started at lunch time for a meal at 2pm then he left for home at 10pm after visiting about six bars/pubs. He said they were packed from about 7pm and it was almost shoulder to shoulder yet he has not showed any signs of illness and it is a week later now.

EachandEveryone · 10/12/2021 06:56

Yes Jarvis Cocker at a very packed Roundhouse last month. There was singing and dancing and everything. Bloody loved it. None of us caught it. All double vaccined and boostered.

Bagelsandbrie · 10/12/2021 06:58

My dd is at university in Nottingham and has been clubbing in packed large venues (2000 plus) almost every night of the week since she started in September. She does LFTs twice a week and has not had one positive and has never to her knowledge had Covid. Maybe the tests are wrong…..!

Snally82 · 10/12/2021 07:10

Out in London for my hen, everyone fine

JemimaMuddledUp · 10/12/2021 07:14

Not clubbing, but I'm CEV and went out for a Christmas meal and to a few bars afterwards and didn't catch Covid. I've also been to music gigs and comedy clubs.

I have had the booster.

I can understand your DS to be honest, although I don't hugely miss clubbing (getting a bit old for that) I did miss meals out and bars and theatres and live music and live comedy enormously. Yes there's a risk, but shielding was absolutely miserable and you have to consider the risk to your mental health too.

Indecisivelurcher · 10/12/2021 07:18

I went for a meal with 25 people last week and to 3 different packed pubs full of people singing and dancing. Dh went out the week before to the football at a big city stadium and ended up in a city centre night club afterwards. No covid. I reckon kids school is just as big a risk. Dd had a contact from rainbows on Monday.

middleager · 10/12/2021 07:20

I would imagine the number who haven't caught it is high.

I went to gig after gig in my high case city, nothing. Then DS brings it back from school anyway and passes it to me. And yes, I was fully vaccinated, because vaccines do not prevent transmission.

x2boys · 10/12/2021 07:21

Yes I went to Manchester a couple of weeks ago , massively packed train ,and packed pub ,I was absolutely convinced I would catch COVID ,but nothing ,I am doubly vaccinated and also had my booster .

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 10/12/2021 07:34

Dd has, she’s in Amsterdam, before latest lockdown lots of parties, museum night event(clubs in all the big museums) and bars. She and all mates, fine.

Abraxan · 10/12/2021 07:37

19Y Dd has been to festivals, clubs, bars, holidays etc and has never had covid. She's been in close contact with it a number of times. Her antibody tests for virus only has been negative.

Similarly dh has been putto various places, social and work based and been in close contact a few times. Never tested positive.

Even when I had it and we didn't isolate within the home neither caught it.

I caught it from school, most likely, and probably from a pupil.

Abraxan · 10/12/2021 07:39

Not having yet had a booster, but having been double vaccinated is not the same as being unvaccinated, op. Nowhere near.

MakkaPakkas · 10/12/2021 07:42

If it helps I've been out at least twice a week for the last several months (theatre, pubs, cinema etc.) And also in cliseish contact (outbreak at kids school) work colleague had it and so far I've dodged it. I'm double jabbed, not eligible for the booster yet.
I understand your son's position. There's a risk in closing your life off too. Hope you get some sleep x

20viona · 10/12/2021 07:43

Yes lots.

Lipsandlashes · 10/12/2021 07:46

I was at a packed retirement party back in October and have been commuting on the Central Line, twice a week for the last couple of months. I haven’t caught Covid.

xaint · 10/12/2021 07:46

i got marrird 2 wrekd ago, no reports of any attended be oming sick with the virus or snything else.

Roselilly36 · 10/12/2021 07:50

I really feel for the young people, awful for them, I have DS’ 20 & 18, it’s really difficult, I am classed as CEV too, but I want them to live their lives.

lljkk · 10/12/2021 07:50

20yo DD was fully jabbed in April (not CEV), has been partying most weekends whenever legal, some clubs, some at home parties, & not had covid. Plus she worked in a pub over summer. She knows a few people who had it.
