Been told to isolate but I'm double jabbed

DP HAS tested positive I've tested negative I'm double jabbed but have been told to isolate?

I've looked online and it says I don't need to? So who do I listen to ?

You have to isolate. Likely it's the new variant he's tested positive for.

If he has Omicron you have to isolate.

Who has told you to isolate. If you have been sent email or text, if you click on links it will tell you that you don’t have to SI if double vaxxed. Unless it’s suspected omicron - but apparently you are told that.

@Verite1 test and trace also we was at a Xmas party on Sunday and the whole party who is triple jabbed have been told to isolate to.

How would we no if it's the new covid?

Being told to isolate is the way you know it is probably Omicron (only probably as the first quick check isn't 100%), they wouldn't tell contacts to isolate unless the PCR showed likely Omicron.

When they called did you say you were double vaxxed. And what did the email say - can you cut and paste it.

I understood that if you have to SI due to omicron they do tell you that. But possibly that has changed.

Why don’t you call test and trace and ask for clarification

I was told similarly when DC2 was positive a couple of months back, pre-omicron. The guy on the phone just briefly said "you must isolate unless exempt", and the exemptions were very much in the small print of what we were sent. I would call and clarify.

They won’t ask you to isolate when you’ve had two jabs, unless it is Omnicron, which is spreading rapidly.

So the way you know it’s Omnicron is the fact that they told you to isolate. They haven’t told you specifically that it is Omnicron because they don’t want you to freak out.

Does this mean your vaccines were pointless? Not at all, they are still extremely effective against Omnicron and the point of them is to keep you off a ventilator/ away from lifelong breathing problems / deadly blood clots.

I know of people who have been told to isolate as contact of someone with new variant even though double vaccinated. I think as test and trace have emailed you I would follow that advice while you look into it with them. Surprised they don't know why.

I thought that as long as you get a negative OCR yourself you dont have to isolate

You need to directly ask them. If vaccinated the only reason would be if it was omicron. But there is lady posting on here who has omicron. Except that nobody has told her. But the contacts have been told they have come into contact with someone with omicron

I don’t go out much anyway but Iam triple vaccinated and I won’t isolate.

I’m sorry skysblue but I think that is nonsense. Op is entitled to know the legal basis for self isolation. You can’t not tell someone because you don’t want to freak them out!

As others have said, you must self-isolate if you come into contact with someone who has picked up the omicron variant.

When they emailed did you input your details on the contact tracing website, or if it was a call did you give the exact details of your vaccines?

As if it isn't a voc (variant of concern) if these details aren't entered you wouldn't be given an exemption from self isolation

That is the point of the vaccines now not but we were told before getting the first dose. It was going to stop there. No more PCR or restrictions. So not really.

It’s clear on the website if you are double vaccinated you are advised to do a test but don’t have to isolate unless it’s omicron variant

Yes but no date for that to start yet

They told me to isolate today due to my DD testing positive. They said isolate unless exempt and then moved onto the next section. I said ‘hold on a minute, been double jabbed and boosted’ and then they said ‘no you don’t need to them’. I got the feeling if I hadn’t spoken up, they wouldn’t have gone through the exemptions. They also told me the Omicron test was a separate PCR test that would arrive through the post. They said I would need to isolate if she was positive for Omicron but that changed last night so I think that will change. In any event, I am being extremely cautious.
