So I have an LFT with a practically invisible to the naked eye line and no symptoms. Does anyone see it? Does it count? What next, take another? Or book a PCR test? Or appointment with Specsavers Blush

I can’t see a line.
But If you are not sure test again in a day or two.

This was my positive test, I had no symptoms at that point. Daughters negative test on left.

I've done a PCR this morning, I've also taken another LFT just out of interest and it has another v faint line - this one is from a different batch. Quite interested to see the results of the PCR! Really hope it's negative, it's a rubbish time of year to have to isolate!

This is mine (to the right) vs DS (to the left). Today I’ve asked DS2 to look at the tests again at 20’ past the swab and he could also see the line. pCR already in the postbox. If it’s positive, Xmas is cancelled and my mum in Italy will have a nervous breakdown. But it’d be worse if we would bring her a special, viral Xmas present!

My DH has been getting faint tests like these for the last three days in the morning. But oddly in the evenings the LFTs seem to be clear. The first day he did a PCR (as we have covid in the house) which was negative. He has taken another today but we are now thinking it is probably negative and may be linked to the fact that he has more 'gunk' up his nose in the mornings!

Can anyone else see the line on this?!

Be interesting to get updates on those with the faint lines as to if your PCR's came back negative or positive!

This was my squinter last night then two others (the bottom two) this morning and this afternoon.

I was desperately hoping they were false positives.

I've been vaccinated and booster as well.

I can see a line. Possibly too used to squinting at pregnancy tests mind you lol but if it were my test I'd book a PCR.

Twixxed · 09/12/2021 16:15

I would genuinely have thought nearly all of these were negative. Am now even more concerned about the usefulness of LFTs...

Tuliprain · 09/12/2021 16:18

@catfunk

I would assume all of the pics are negative if they were mine 🥴
Me too! Can’t see any kind of a line!
kickupafuss · 09/12/2021 16:31

My dd had a very faint line one night and she put it down to the fact that there was a strong smell of oranges in the room (my fault Hmm). the following morning she had an almost instant dark line.

PCR results are in and it's negative! Needless to say I won't be wasting time poring over any more vvv faint LFTs.

It took 2 PCRs for my positive result to show, and 3 PCRs for DD1's. It may not be COVID, but it could be that it just hasn't been picked up yet.
Alwayswonderedwhy · 10/12/2021 11:31

That would be a negative in our house.

cherin · 11/12/2021 11:48

DS’s PcR was also negative. Done another LFT this morning and it’s clear negative. Xmas is saved?

ShiftingSands21 · 11/12/2021 12:01

Hope so Cherin!

Blupblup · 11/12/2021 12:09

I'd probably wait a day and do another PCR to be honest. Your LFTs look positive and you are much more likely to get a false negative PCR than a couple of false positive LFTs.

I think you've done all you can reasonably be expected to do!

My DH also got a negative PCR with his test. Fingers crossed that means he has escaped it!

My dd pcr was indeterminate so second one done awaiting results.....

cherin · 11/12/2021 15:44

I’ve got the sneaky suspicion that he might have been positive asymptomatic the week before, when my husband was taking care of the testing. His class is a Petri dish of virus, and that’s when all the cases were popping up, but none of the PcRs done early were positive. Then we had a week lull, when I was away….and DH cant read a test for sh*t. He was expecting to see a bright pink line, nothing else would be valid otherwise. I suspect I caught the tail end of the infection…but I’ll never know, unless I buy for him an antibody test which requires the drop of blood and DS hates the sight of blood…I can’t see the point. I was hoping to give him the vaccine in Italy over Xmas (where the 5-11 open next week even to non residents) but we’re not going to be there for the 3 weeks required in between doses…and I’ve got this looming sense of deja vu where I suspect travel in the new year will be quite disrupted!

WarriorN · 12/12/2021 07:49

We think the constant squirting up his nose of that boots self defence thing that Dh does creates a v v faint line 😶🙄
