Why can't people wear masks?

Properly!!!! It drives me insane!!!!

Either wear it or don't, but for the love of god stop wearing it on your chin or under your nose because it's doing fuck all

Surely it's not rocket science?

I was on a flight yesterday and would say a large amount of passengers were wandering around with masks under their chins, or just over their mouths

@Whyisitsodifficult

Masks are as effective as a pair of pants holding a fart in!
This really isn't true.
MLMshouldbeillegal · 08/12/2021 12:31

Newsflash, nobody likes wearing them.

I hate masks. But this isn't true either, there are loads of people on MN who love their masks because they can hide from the world, means they don't need lipstick, it keeps their face warm...

Fair enough, I meant the astounding number of people on here who claim they "can't breathe" or feel dizzy wearing one. I mean, come on? I don't particularly love them but that's just ridiculous. They feel weird and uncomfortable but you get used to it. I think a lot of people in the UK have been able just not to bother and so it still seems like a massive deal to wear one. There were months and months here when I had to wear one any time I was anywhere except my own house basically. I got used to it. I still have to wear one in all indoor settings and if I go into town most people are still wearing one because there are lots of people around.
AntiMaskersAreTwats · 08/12/2021 14:04

@brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Think about the average intelligence level in the UK.

Then remember that half the population is less intelligent than that.

No wonder so many don’t wear them properly, they’re just not bright enough to understand why.

And lots of people on this thread demonstrating your point so nicely Grin
BananaPant · 08/12/2021 14:06

It's bullshit is what it is.

I am genuinely fucked off with people full
Stop.

BananaPant · 08/12/2021 14:07

Oh and I have extreme and severe anxiety. Classed as a disability due to the severity.

I still manage to wear one.

I don't want a badge but it is ridiculous. Honestly.

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 08/12/2021 14:11

Because they are annoying, restrictive and totally fucking useless.

Well we all have to do things that are sometimes annoying....

I was raped and suffocated. Nice to know what you all think of me

I'm so sorry Flowers

Some of the attitudes on MN over the past year and a half have been utterly vile.

Just because you can doesn't mean that everyone can.

HTH!

Went along with masks, hand washing, distancing 101% from the outset of the Covid outbreak.

Caught Covid the last week of March 2020 regardless.

Thought the masks especially were bollox from that point on.

Still, I did my bit and continued to wear one properly when required all the way up to freedom day, even though as a glasses wearer they are a pain in the arse.

Have been wearing one again since last week with my nose over the top as it becomes a major pain in the arse glasses steaming up in winter. I’ve had enough of the BS tbh. Masks didn’t work for me, they haven’t worked in Wales, Scotland or Germany etc.

GiveMeNovocain · 08/12/2021 18:33

@TheVampiresWife thank you. I find this thread genuinely upsetting

TomAllenWife · 08/12/2021 19:06

@GiveMeNovocain I'm sorry you've been through such trauma this thread is not about people who genuinely can't wear masks

It's aimed at the many who are too special to protect others for no other reason than their glasses stealing up or that it's a bit uncomfortable

Maybe you should aim your distress and anger at those fuckwits who ruin it for people with genuine issues like yourself

Because they don't want the hassle of being interrogated about why they aren't wearing one, or they are struggling to wear one and need to pull it down temporarily and forget to put it back on properly. Who cares? I don't

And how exactly can you tell the difference? I don't wear my scars in public. At least people who don't wear masks who can leave me alone

For those like you (and me!) who wear glasses.

I’ve just discovered that the FFP2 masks are amazing for that. I never have any issue with glasses getting foggy with them.
A real discovery for me so I would share as it makes things so much easier :)

GiveMeNovocain · 08/12/2021 19:22

Leave me alone. That's all I ask. I don't want your sympathy but your judgement sounds me and reopens scars that had got close to healed. It forces me to confront my worst nightmares with my child present every time I have to declare my exemption. You have no idea the harm you do

TomAllenWife · 08/12/2021 19:33

Cheers for that, I’ll give one a go - the masks last chance saloon ;)

luckylavender · 08/12/2021 21:12

@MummyPop00 - nothing happened until March 23 2020 and masks weren't mandated until July 2020.
