Tested positive on a lateral flow yesterday and getting PCR today. Feel like death. Can't believe I have caught this - I am so careful, mask up everywhere, I work from home and never go anywhere! Possibly it was at my birthday at the weekend. 2 years of hiding away then I get it the one time I go enjoy myself in a group. FFS.

Me, I think! Did lateral flow last night (well did two just to be sure). Booked PCR test for today too. I had covid last November, so like de ja vu for me. Double vaccinated, and have booster booked for Jan. Right pain in the arse. We've been quite careful while not letting it impinge too much. I've actually had a chesty cold for a few weeks, so guessing immune system is shit. Hence picking up covid.
I work in a public setting, but careful one in, one out setting. Although step sons mother has covid it transpires. A warning would have been nice at the weekend! Although his PCR test negative.
Anyway, still fingers crossed for a negative PCR (doubtful). I don't feel as bad as I did last year (probably got some immunity!). But still not great! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Me. Tested positive Wednesday evening and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus!
I’ve also been so careful but unfortunately can’t work from home so have still been going into the office, 2 other members of staff have also got it.
I can’t believe how ill I feel!

EmmaOvary · 03/12/2021 08:33

@Datgal interesting point about lowered immunity, could be right about that. With a son in nursery, I feel like I always have a cough or cold at the moment and was just recovering from one.

I'm double jabbed à d was booked for my booster tomorrow ☹️

Hope everyone feels better soon.

me also and my 7 year old, no symptons yet for her i just have sore throat test came back yesterday, sending hugs to all

FAQs · 03/12/2021 08:36

@Pusheenparent you’ve been going into the office?

Khara · 03/12/2021 08:54

Me - Tested positive on Wednesday evening on my biweekly lft that I do for work. (I'm a TA in a primary school.) PCR came through positive last night. I just had a snotty nose and scratchy throat, but yesterday developed a temperature and violent shivering. No cough yet.

Like op it was my birthday at the weekend and we went out for a meal, but also could have come from the kids at school who all seem to have dreadful "colds" at the moment. I was also due my booster on SundaySad

I'm pretty anxious at the moment because I'm CV but I'm hoping there's enough vaccine left to provide some protection.

Sparkle275 · 03/12/2021 09:06

I've also got covid at the moment. I tested positive yesterday. DD tested positive Tuesday. Everyone else in the house has now also tested positive on LFT and PCR. That's all 5 of us. I've been double jabbed and DH has had both jabs and also a booster 2 weeks ago. We feel like crap and the kids sound like they've been smoking 40 a day. I also can't taste or smell anything from this morning. I hope you start feeling better soon, at least it's before Christmas is what I keep telling myself x

Champersandchocolate · 03/12/2021 09:12

Me! Tested positive yesterday. Paracetamol takes the edge off. No appetite but I can smell and taste ok. Feels like I have tonsillitis, which I'm used to.

All I really want is to go for a walk in fresh air but obviously not allowed. So this is the worst bit for me, all my windows are open!

Champersandchocolate · 03/12/2021 09:14

I'm also unvaccinated!

Pusheenparent · 03/12/2021 09:31

Obviously not since I tested positive. I meant I’ve caught it from going into the office.

EmmaOvary · 03/12/2021 09:33

Is anyone isolating from their household/kids? My son is 19 months and I want to keep him safe but I don't see how he can go 10 days without seeing his mum. I'm isolating in the bedroom at the moment and DH is dropping things off outside the door.

Champersandchocolate · 03/12/2021 09:53

@EmmaOvary Keeping distance from my kids, have quite large rooms. Partner is doubled vaccinated so he's still in bed with me etc
Pretty sure I caught it from my kids in the first place.

discoland · 03/12/2021 09:57

Me, tested positive on saturday. Haven’t hidden at all over the past couple of years, worked throughout the first wave, in a household where everyone goes off to different workplaces, school eco. My DH had it a couple of months ago and I didn’t catch it despite sharing bed/car with him so I honestly thought by this point I was immune from either unknowingly having an asymptomatic case ages ago or good response to vaccines. But nope, finally caught it and have felt really poorly.

TheSpiral · 03/12/2021 10:00

I had positive PCR two and a half weeks ago so am out of quarantine now but still feel drained, breathless and slight rattling of chest. Days 5 to 8:were the absolute worst, massive headache, constant nausea, couldn’t get out of bed.
Got it from DS2 who had no symptoms except a stuffy nose - 10 per cent of his year had it at the same time. I’m double vaccinated as is DH but he moved into another room as we didn’t both want to be ill and also it’s horrible and better not to get it if possible. He has been spared as has older DS. I basically stayed in my room for quarantine period but we did all have to share a bathroom and I did come downstairs a few times to watch TV with DS2, or to eat when I felt a bit better, in a different room to the non infected people! I did stay out of the kitchen.

Cam2020 · 03/12/2021 10:06

Me! Would never have tested had I not been informed of being a close contact! Had a terrible headache for days, but I am a headache and migraine sufferer. I've been/am feeling exhausted and have had a sore throat but put that down to stress - I was floored by the result. This is not at all what I expected Covid to feel like!

Pinkflipflop85 · 03/12/2021 10:13

Me. Got it from school now that close contacts don't isolate.
14 members of staff are now off with positives but school has to be business as usual...

Not isolating from my children. It isn't possible.

BurnstonesMama · 03/12/2021 10:29

Another one here. Tested positive last weekend and it's felt like a cold, but today I feel very nauseous with bit of upset tum. Feeling sorry for myself as thought end was in sight.

yaboreme · 03/12/2021 12:18

Sitting duck here...

My sister her 2 kids, my SIL her DH and DS all currently have it....

Just waiting now... keep doing LFT but feeling achy and naff so not expecting to escape it this time.

KylieKoKo · 03/12/2021 15:41

Me! I'm on day 4 and feeling so much better. Just a bit tired with congested sinuses.

Clarkey86 · 03/12/2021 15:45

Me. Felt very achey and tired yesterday but put it down to being heavily pregnant. Came home from work (teacher) and had a blazing positive lateral flow. Just waiting for PCR results.

Last night I had a temp/shivers and was achey and anxious so couldn’t sleep but today I’ve not been too bad. Now I’ve developed a snotty nose and I suspect a cough is on it’s way.

I’m trying to wear a mask when around my OH/DD4 and stay in my room as much as possible but it’s bloody miserable. I’m also now missing so many christmas things including her first little nativity Sad

Ormally · 03/12/2021 15:47

Me, DH and DD. Almost certainly came from school.
DD hopefully out on Monday although some late stage sickness has put paid to this once.
DH tested positive on the 26/11, I can see him being down for another week at least and I have been very worried as improvements have been only very slight.

EmmaOvary · 04/12/2021 14:30

How is everyone doing? I'm on day 4, sleepy and bunged up with a headache but otherwise ok. I'm hoping this is the worst of it. DH and DS 19mths went to get tested today. Isolating in the bedroom, not easy to stay away from my little boy 😔 Hope everyone is doing ok x

OP posts:
Teaforme23 · 04/12/2021 14:40

4 out of 6 of us currently have it.

DD2 caught it at school on the 25th, DD3 and I tested positive 29th and DD1 tested positive on the 2nd.

It's been a rough time. Hoping I'm over the worst of it.

Champersandchocolate · 04/12/2021 14:44

@EmmaOvary I'm ok. It's been a slow burner for me I believe as I just thought it was my pregnancy symptoms for 4 days. So I guess now I'm day 6, my body doesn't ache anymore.

I have a very scratchy throat that I numb with ice lollies every 4 hours, I've had horrendous acid reflux since the beginning - heartburn was there before due to pregnancy but coronavirus has made it worse. It comes and goes now rather than last all day so that's getting better.

Nose is stuffy, heavy head but paracetamol gets rid of it.

Honestly it just feels like tonsillitis with the added acid reflux!

EmmaOvary · 04/12/2021 14:47

@Champersandchocolate I can't imagine how stressful it must be to have this while pregnant. I hope you are being well looked after.
