How often are you lateral flow testing?

With the change in guidance to test before 'mixing with people in crowded indoor places' do you interpret that as meaning potentially every day if going to shops/using public transport? Or not those situations because we're all meant to be masked again?

Previously I thought we had been told there's no advantage to testing more frequently than 2x per week as takes a few days for Covid to develop. I also really dislike all the waste associated with tests.

So how often are you testing? Have your employers changed guidance if you work in a shop or theatre/cinema/similar?

I'm really interested to know if I should be testing more than 2x per week.

Twice a week and more if I have to visit a care home (with work) on non testing days or if I’m seeing my Dad.

@bloodywhitecat - glad you’re able to visit your lovely DH xx

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat

We've stopped altogether. I'm not risking any more DC education, they have big exams this year. If they get symptoms I'll get a PCR but no more of this 'search hard enough and you'll find a problem' malarkey.

We are all jabbed, wear masks, sensible mixing etc but I will not do anymore LFT.

Not helpful. You won’t be getting a lot of education if your teacher gets it because you can’t be bothered to test. That’s why I’m at home. I’m a teacher who caught Covid (again) from my work. My poor classes, including year 11, aren’t getting their lessons.

Twice a week but I dont bother reporting it

MrsPear · 01/12/2021 22:03

Daily because of the sheer number of cases in our children’s classes - 10 confirmed in my youngest form class and 7 in the eldest. Plus I have a funeral coming up so I need to be clear for that.

megletthesecond · 01/12/2021 22:05

3 times a week. I'm not mixing but I have dc's at secondary.

Twice a week but also an additional one of visiting my granny's or babies
FindingMeno · 01/12/2021 22:09

Not at the moment as had covid a few weeks ago.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 01/12/2021 22:10

Well that will be one subject versus all their subjects if they have to stay home with no symptoms. Like I said, they are vaccinated, wear masks all the time and eating their lunch outside. That's enough of a sacrifice.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 01/12/2021 22:13

I've only done 2 lateral flow tests ever, but I do do saliva tests twice a week through work (NHS Hospital)

QueenofKattegat · 01/12/2021 22:14

Never.

Pootle40 · 01/12/2021 22:14

Never

TSSDNCOP · 01/12/2021 22:18

3 times a week.

Hardly a sacrifice, think that would take longer and require some actual suffering.

Redcrayons · 01/12/2021 22:18

Only if I’m going to be indoors in close contact with someone like the office or their house. Once a week, perhaps twice.

sofakingcool · 01/12/2021 22:21

Twice a week - work with nursery aged children. I might add in an extra if visiting someone particularly vulnerable, or know I've been a contact

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/12/2021 22:35

Never. I’ve had quite a few PCRs though

DockOTheBay · 02/12/2021 05:29

I've taken them when specifically asked before indoor events, so about once a month. I'm not taking them routinely

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/12/2021 06:05

I'm not. I had Covid in August and it didn't show up on any lateral flows so I don't think they're reliable at all, if I get symptoms I'll get a PCR.

User5489205347 · 02/12/2021 06:07

People rely on these far to much and they don't seem that reliable so probably putting other people at risk

cliffdiver · 02/12/2021 06:10

Twice a week.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 02/12/2021 06:16

3 times a week usually. Work in a Coll and go to uni once a week. It’s really not a hardship since we got the poky nose ones.

Thegreencup · 02/12/2021 06:18

I'm not doing them routinely. What is the point? They're not terribly accurate, even when done properly. So I could still have it and it not show up on one. So I wear my mask, don't go out too much, stay home when I'm ill and don't send the kids into school when they're ill.

I'd sooner keep wearing masks all the time than daily LFT.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/12/2021 06:21

work says we must do it twice a week, so i do

Lulu1919 · 02/12/2021 06:21

Daily - I work in a school that's rife with covid ..children and staff

WinterFoxCub · 02/12/2021 06:26

couple of times a week. It's rife in the school and I take it with the Dcs when they do theirs. I also take it before I see a friend who has just finished chemo - about once every 2 weeks.

TenoringBehind · 02/12/2021 06:30

At least twice a week, occasionally more.

I have to do it before bellringing on Tuesdays and Sundays and for work on Wednesdays, so test on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.
