How often are you lateral flow testing?

With the change in guidance to test before 'mixing with people in crowded indoor places' do you interpret that as meaning potentially every day if going to shops/using public transport? Or not those situations because we're all meant to be masked again?

Previously I thought we had been told there's no advantage to testing more frequently than 2x per week as takes a few days for Covid to develop. I also really dislike all the waste associated with tests.

So how often are you testing? Have your employers changed guidance if you work in a shop or theatre/cinema/similar?

I'm really interested to know if I should be testing more than 2x per week.

Never, I don't work though.

Lily999888 · 01/12/2021 21:07

It depends what I’m doing. If I’m going to see elderly relatives then I always do one beforehand. I went to the theatre last week, so did one before going there. I think doing one before mixing in larger groups etc is a good thing as they are simple enough to do, especially the nasal ones that they’re giving out now. I don’t do one every time I go out shopping though.

Aurorie11 · 01/12/2021 21:08

Daily at the mo, positive cases at work. I’ve had 3 jabs but vulnerable family members so being v careful.

justbegoodforme · 01/12/2021 21:09

I do a test when mixing in a larger group.

InTheLabyrinth · 01/12/2021 21:11

Twice a week.
Upped it to 3 days a week when covid was affecting 60% of the team at work. Dropped back now.

DillDanding · 01/12/2021 21:11

I have never taken one.

Wombat69 · 01/12/2021 21:13

Nope but don't really mix either.

MelonTits · 01/12/2021 21:14

Never.

GreenWhiteViolet · 01/12/2021 21:15

Once a week, the day before my in-person teaching work (university). I don't bother for shops, buses, etc.

When someone in my household had Covid I did one almost every day for about a week, just to be sure I hadn't caught it, but that was probably driven more by anxiety than good sense.

Macaroni46 · 01/12/2021 21:15

Twice a week for work. Getting a bit fed up with it now tbh, especially the reporting bit.

Exhausteddog · 01/12/2021 21:15

We're still doing twice a week and the plastic offends me every time.

Lemonjiffy · 01/12/2021 21:16

I do X2 a week for socialising.

Lemonjiffy · 01/12/2021 21:17

It doesn’t bother me at all, takes 5min out of my day.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 01/12/2021 21:17

We've stopped altogether. I'm not risking any more DC education, they have big exams this year. If they get symptoms I'll get a PCR but no more of this 'search hard enough and you'll find a problem' malarkey.

We are all jabbed, wear masks, sensible mixing etc but I will not do anymore LFT.

TuesdayRuby · 01/12/2021 21:19

Only if I feel under the weather. Or if I have to (ie before work Xmas party).

bloodywhitecat · 01/12/2021 21:19

Every 72 hours because I want to see my lovely husband and I can't without proof of a negative lateral flow test.

Tryingtryingandtrying · 01/12/2021 21:20

You could become infectious at any time. Perhaps we could invent a little dial attached to our inner cheeks, that constantly monitors for the viral protein.

You could. Clearly you are more educated than the majority of scientists though. What is your suggestion?
HaveANiceFuckingDay · 01/12/2021 21:23

2 times a week

Lemonjiffy · 01/12/2021 21:23

I mean have you offered your services to WHO?

LaMariposa · 01/12/2021 21:27

I don’t. Had it twice, and have been vaccinated. I took a couple of PCRs when Covid ripped through work - people on desks either side of me had it, negative that time.

I've never had any kind of covid test

luckylavender · 01/12/2021 21:33

Twice a week

LookdeepintotheParka · 01/12/2021 21:40

Twice a week as my workplace is high risk (university) and always before I see vulnerable friends or relatives.
