Concert at O2

I booked tickets last year to a concert at the O2 which has been rescheduled to Friday. With the new variant, I don't want to go. Do I have any rights regarding getting a refund through the company that I bought the tickets from?

Friend had this problem a couple of years ago, when she unexpectedly found herself pregnant with a due date very close to the date of the concert.
The O2s policy (at the time) was that they didn’t issue refunds, she needed to check the terms and conditions of the actual ticket (from whoever was putting on the show), and see what their policy was. Unfortunately the answer was still no. She ended up selling them to another friend, so she wasn’t out of pocket. Do you know anyone else who might want to go? I appreciate it might be a little bit short notice for that.

@ihatethecold my friends went to JLS and just took a plastic sandwich bag to put a few bits in 😂 no need to buy an actual see through handbag. Although, with tickets and cards being stored on their phones they only had car keys, lip stick and hand sanitizer in the bag.

There are rights on refunds though obviously ticket sellers will try and wriggle out of refunding, similar to holiday companies, Which and Martin Lewis websites generally have advice on this.

I’m going on Saturday night.
How strict were the security on see through bags?
I got an email saying only small see through bags are allowed in.
There’s not a chance in hell I’m buying a see through hand bag.

What a waste of money and resources to ask people to do that.[/quote]
I suspect they mean you can bring a poly bag like the sort you need at the airport? Just put your stuff in your pocket?

There was no rule about see through bags where I went (Nottingham) we just had our normal bags. They were checking Covid passes.

Don't buy a see through handbag unless you really want to. But they need to be able to see what you are bringing in to keep everyone safe so deal with it.

You are not entitled to a refund. It’s your own concerns, why should they refund you? There’s about 12 cases of the new variant & presumably you are vaccinated. So the risk is tiny. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Stuffin · 02/12/2021 07:51

By all means don't go but honestly why do you think your entitled to a refund?

A few times in my life I have changed plans and you just have to suck up the fact that it is your choice to do that and unless there are T&Cs which state you can get a discount for no reason other than you don't fancy it any more then that's the risk you take on losing the money.

You know where OP got her tickets from then so you are able to make this statement
Katie517 · 02/12/2021 12:47

@Groovytiger while it’s sad that you have dealt with such negative things because of covid my stance doesn’t change on me thinking it’s unreasonable for you to expect a refund because you have made your own decision not to go. Why not just suck it up and accept the fact that you have lost the money or try to sell the tickets? It’s the fact that covid is being used as a cop out/ excuse for everything at the moment that annoys me. I also don’t understand how 30 cases of a new variant that we know little about suddenly makes you feel unsafe when you have had covid and are presumably vaccinated already.
