I had to nip to the supermarket and town yesterday for a few bits and there was literally no difference with the number of people wearing masks compared to last week 😬😬😬

I was shocked that I didn't notice anyone maskless on a trip to home bargains and B&M this morning. Last time I went its was probably about 50% wearing masks.

Went to Aldi on Monday, most people wearing masks - but then they do quite a bit, around here.

RabbitFooFoo · 01/12/2021 12:29

Waitrose was very good, only saw a couple without, all staff were wearing.
B & M, usually the worst, was much better than when I popped in at the wkd, up to about 80% from a very low 10%.

Why are people shocked at the difference? Last weekend, it was open to public choice so most people chose not to wear them. From yesterday, it was a legal requirement. Everyone wearing one in Sainsbury's last night, including me as a reluctant mask wearer.

Popped into Iceland earlier, I was the only one in a mask, including staff. Not surprised since the head of Iceland said he wouldn't ask staff to wear them or enforce it in stores. Overheard the checkout assistants chatting about 'we'll all have to keep getting a booster' and how it makes you ill 'because my sister had it and she was really ill'.

Everyone in masks in Tesco just.

CasparsWineBar · 01/12/2021 13:14

A few customers not wearing masks at all in M&S and some old dears wearing masks around their mouth but not nose 🤦🏻‍♀️

ragged · 01/12/2021 13:28

almost everyone masked on train yesterday - first time in a long while like that.

NoodlesPoodles · 01/12/2021 14:36

Just been in MK Sainsbury's and nearly everyone was wearing a mask. Lots of people were choosing to wear them on the school grounds during drop off this morning as well.

DaisyWaldron · 01/12/2021 14:41

I work in a shop. Yesterday most people were wearing masks. A few got their masks out when I reminded them of the change in the rules - two of them weren't aware that they had to wear masks in shops again. A couple had lanyards or wore face shields so I left them alone. Two smirked and claimed to be exempt but were clearly lying, which I found infuriating. But people were generally fine.

I went into a different shop later, and half the staff had their masks around their necks Angry

In small town Ireland, everyone is wearing a mask, even out on the street. I've not seen someone inside a shop here without a mask since the start. Some under the nose nonsense but not much.

SpringRainbow · 01/12/2021 14:45

Last week local to me barely anyone was wearing masks anymore.

Today everyone is wearing masks, including loads of people wearing them whilst walking down the street.

mydogisthebest · 01/12/2021 15:03

Where I live in East Midlands the majority never stopped wearing masks.
