12 year olds and delayed period

Hi,
Had anyone found that the vaccine has impacted your childs menstrual cycle?
I'm getting anxious about giving my 12 year old girl the vaccine when she hasn't started her periods yet. Maybe I'm talking nonsense!
Any thoughts?

Why would you be concerned about this? Many girls don't start their periods till they are older than 12

Of what? A non-menstrual 12 year old being vaccinated and continuing to be non-menstrual?

Did your DD come with a date and time that you are expecting her menstrual cycle to start stamped on her somewhere? How on Earth would you know that her cycle starting was 'delayed'?

Early when vaccinations started many reported a disruption in their monthly cycles.
It's something that has played on my mind.
My daughter has shown all signs of puberty but no period as of yet. I wouldn't want to give her something that would interfere with the natural process.
I am aware that I may be talking bollocks!

Surely if it has played on your mind you would have actually done some reading from reputable sources rather than Mumsnet which is full of people that know nothing and try and come across as knowledgeable?

I think everyone is being a little unkind . As a parent she is concerned especially when there have been many public reports of menstrual changes . The attitude to people who dare to have any concerns or question the many irrational decisions is pretty disgusting .

DD (12) has had both her jabs (we're not in the UK). No period yet but I'm sure we are very close. Her BFF, also 12, also double-vaxxed, got her 1st period last month.

If she does have genuine concerns then why would Mumsnet be where to go for answers. There is a wealth of ino on this from reputable sources just by googling. I just can't understand the mindset where you would take what was said on here by total randoms over the easily available information in the public domain.

Did is 15 had been having periods for at least 2 years and they're still all over the shop, so can't say the vaccine has made any difference. Nor to mine either

It’s a community for mums @rainbowunicorn wheee people ask all sorts of advice . Why can’t she ask on here to go along with the other research I am sure she is doing

Not a child obviously but I've had 3 vaccines and no issues with my periods, all as normal and I'm not on hormonal contraceptives

I have read the evidence around this area and was wanting to hear anecdotal evidence as sometimes symptoms are not reported. I don't think there's anything wrong with that!
I'm university educated and I'm a NHS professional with an understanding of valid clinical trial evidence.
It's funny how some people are so rude online but wouldn't act like that face to face.

Most vaccines are given to prepubescents so it wouldn’t be recorded if it affects periods. Probably does. It’s just covid being given to an adult population in such numbers, an anecdotal pattern has emerged.

Even if it is disrupting menstrual cycles due to the immune system interacting, it isn’t significant, long lasting, or harmful. So why are you worried?

There’s a lot of yellow card reports of periods being disrupted, and given the lack of long term data on the vaccine I can understand why you’d have questions OP.
Is there any specific reason for your daughter to get the vaccine atm? Is she vulnerable? Heathy children her age are at extremely low risk of becoming unwell with covid. It would be perfectly acceptable/ understandable to wait until there is more information out there.

I was reading something this morning about the HPV vaccine. I'll see if I can find the link.

So covid delayed my period by 2 weeks. Vaccines didn't. Periods can be delayed by all sorts of random shit- stress, illness etc.

All the data on menstrual disruption so far points to it, if it exists at all, being v short-term lived and triggering an earlier period. So, if it were to have any impact it would only be if her uterine lining had built up in preparation for shedding and so she was about to start it anyway. There is no evidence it delays periods.
