I just read about the new rule, self isolation for incoming travellers until PCR results post day 2. But when does this start? Surely not straightaway?
I’m in the Eurostar, due to arrive in London in 2h…

They didn't say, but I would imagine they are thinking today, they don't want a stampede of people returning?

vinoandbrie · 27/11/2021 18:16

Hope the link works, this seems to say 4am tomorrow!

Ugh, that’s me talking rubbish sorry that’s not relating to France at all, just to the new red countries.

Sorry!

SaltedCaramelHC · 27/11/2021 18:18

remember you can still do the PCR test on the day you arrive or any time before day 2, so that you don't have to self-isolate as long. You probably have to book it online though for delivery asap, or go to one of the testing places like at an airport etc - not sure if they have one at the eurostar terminal but they might.

JoanOgden · 27/11/2021 18:18

They will have to lay new regulations, so I am guessing Monday. Hope so as I am travelling back to the UK tomorrow morning and have already booked my LFT...

Hopefully you are not carrying the new variant!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/11/2021 18:24

I'd assume that you'll get into the country OK even though your passenger locator form shows an antigen test, but it sounds like ideally you should book at PCR test ASAP just in case.

😂😂😂😂😂😂
RumHoney · 27/11/2021 18:27

I'm also returning to the UK tomorrow and trying to find out. The briefing sounded to me like they need to introduce legislation "we will require" rather than "we now require" etc. It doesn't make a huge difference to me other than knowing whether I need to order a new test now so that it arrives in time.

Hairbrush123 · 27/11/2021 18:37

I am travelling to Brazil on Wednesday - I am assuming when I return, it’ll be a PCR test? I wonder how fast companies will turnaround?

Tryingtryingandtrying · 27/11/2021 18:39

It is now apparently.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 27/11/2021 18:40

So ds1 needs to come back from Belgium very shortly (tomorrow or Monday) for an audition.
Does anyone know (with a source) when the day 2 pcr test kicks in for arrivals from non red list countries?

LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee · 27/11/2021 18:41

@Angrymum22

Hopefully you are not carrying the new variant!
I came from London to Paris this morning, car ride with my sister, lunch at her house and back to London tonight, so really I don’t think I’m more of a threat than when I am taking a crowded tube to the City daily.

I have booked a PCR just in case… I can isolate tomorrow but hopefully will have results by Monday afternoon to pick up the DCs from school

What is your source please? I have just checked gov.uk and the guidance hasn’t been updated (not doubting you, just asking!)

I'd just do one anyway tbh

They are coming back pretty quick.
RumHoney · 27/11/2021 18:52

I'm now seeing reports saying next week. Fingers crossed! (To be fair, I may switch to WFH as a precaution, it's more the hassle of arranging different tests that I'm trying to avoid).

Topseyt · 27/11/2021 18:56

There's always one!

The new variant is already in the UK anyway. Only two cases detected so far but it seems unlikely that they will be isolated ones in

gogohm · 27/11/2021 19:04

It's ambiguous, I suspect they need some kind of statutory instrument or legislation

EasterIssland · 27/11/2021 19:09

Where does it say about tomorrow at 4am ? I can only see the red list from tomorrow but not the pcr

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 27/11/2021 19:16

Ugh, I'm entering the UK late on Monday night and had just been informed my LFT had dispatched when I heard the news. Extra hassle and cost I don't need, but it's a risk you take travelling at the moment, I guess. I wish there was more certainty and precision when they announced these things. A simultaneous press release with the details, or something.

gemandjule · 27/11/2021 19:31

Anyone know what happens if your only staying in the U.K. for 2 days. I’m due to fly into Edinburgh from Republic of Ireland on Friday and fly back in Sunday. Does this mean I can’t go? What’s the turnaround time for PCR. Can I book a PCR for when I arrive and pay for a private test with a 6 hour turnaround time? Ahhhh
