Just how have I picked it up

Going to visit elderly relatives on Friday, so in anticipation the only places I have been in the last ten days are to pick up a click and collect shop in a car park and to a Yoga class a week ago where there were six people in a massive village hall, all well spaced and the door open. Everyone wearing a mask until we actually started.

Did a precautionery lateral flow this morning - positive result!! Allbeit very faint. Just how? Have been for a PCR so waiting to see what that brings.

Fully jabbed and boosted two weeks - so just how?

How my relatives who have worked in retail all through this have avoided it, I just don't know.

Don’t make any assumptions until the test results are back.

Joystir59 · 24/11/2021 14:52

There is alot of it about at the moment so someone at yoga must have had it. Breath travels freely, so I'd say that yoga class most likely place.

Quarantino · 24/11/2021 14:52

The yoga class, I'd imagine. Distancing inside has diminishing returns the longer you're inside. Do you know if any of the other attendees have tested positive?
Really sorry, sounds like you were particularly unlucky. Flowers
Galling to do the bare minimum and still get it, but at least you can narrow down the likely place of infection. Sad

Wouldn't know what to make of it if your pcr is negative... keep testing perhaps?

JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 14:53

The yoga class had mitigations not a cast iron guarantee!

Lilah2435 · 24/11/2021 14:54

May be a false lft. Dc had a faint positive and pcr was negative.

RB68 · 24/11/2021 14:56

yoga is likely Mums with kids in school and there is your answer

Nidan2Sandan · 24/11/2021 14:58

Yoga seems the obvious choice.

TulipsGarden · 24/11/2021 15:18

Most likely yoga, I agree - it will build up indoors unless there's a decent breeze blowing through the doors.

How lucky you tested before going to see them!

ConcernedAuntie · 24/11/2021 15:20

Other 4 attendees all retired and jabbed and boosted (we had the conversation a couple of weeks ago over post class coffee). I have phoned the instructor as a precaution. She has been testing every morning before classes. Negative this morning (also jabbed and boosted)

We all had way more than 3 metres between us and I didn't stop for coffee this week.

I'm mystified.

JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 15:22

Jabbed people are passing it on though.🤷

JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 15:22

I'm not mystified at all.

JustButtingIn · 24/11/2021 15:23

Except that you are mystified 🌐!

PuertoPollensa · 24/11/2021 15:24

From the vaccine/booster?

Phyllis321 · 24/11/2021 15:34

I had three faint positives LFTs but two negative PCRs.

dustandfluf · 24/11/2021 15:37

Being jabbed and boosted doesn't mean you can't pass on or catch it. This is very well known and publicised.
You got it at yoga. Mystery solved.

Powerpotpie · 24/11/2021 15:39

Yoga class - I certainly wouldn’t go to a yoga class at the moment and consider it a low risk.

Blossomandbee · 24/11/2021 15:43

Wait for you pcr results, I've had several faint positive lateral flow tests that have turned out to be wrong

AtLeastPretendToCare · 24/11/2021 15:43

Do you live alone?

SmallestInTheClass · 24/11/2021 15:52

Yoga class must be it. You can catch it off someone jabbed for sure, they were likely just asymptomatic. And being 3 metres apart reduces the risk but doesn't remove it, especially if you were there for more than 10-15 minutes. LFTs are far from 100% reliable, so the yoga teacher could have it and just got a false negative test. I feel for you though as it does sound like you've been unlucky.

FestiveMayo · 24/11/2021 15:55

Yoga

FestiveMayo · 24/11/2021 15:56

Or the click and collect staff had it and coughed in your car?

MissLC · 24/11/2021 16:05

The other thing to think about is some food/drink/toothpaste/mouth wash can give a false positive on a lft, don't know if you waited over half an hour i think it is since eating or drinking before you did the test

ConcernedAuntie · 24/11/2021 16:16

@AtLeastPretendToCare

Do you live alone?
No with DH - his lateral flow was negative.
OP posts:
ConcernedAuntie · 24/11/2021 16:18

I suppose it must have been Yoga although everyone there lives in the village and I'm sure if someone had tested a confirmed PCR positive they would have let the rest of the class know.

OP posts:
ScarlettSunset · 24/11/2021 16:29

I think it's also possible that your DH test was a false negative and you caught it from him. Unless he has been out even less than you!
