Mask wearing where you live?

julieca · 14/11/2021 00:22

Went to the supermarket today which was busy and only a few people were wearing masks. Nearly everyone was not. I have noticed over the last few months the amount of mask-wearing going down, and now very few people wear masks outside of the GPs surgery 9where they are still compulsory).
So are people wearing masks where you live, or have they mainly given up?

Genuine question for those of you still wearing masks. Do you think there will come a time when you stop?

Probably when cases in my area are at a much lower level and have been for a while.

As soon as I'm allowed to!
AllThingsServeTheBeam · 15/11/2021 17:58

Its currently around 300 per 100000 in my area. What is low enough to stop wearing a mask?

Volterra · 15/11/2021 18:05

It was about 45 per 100,000 in my area in summer 2020. Maybe when we are back there again but may be taking a medication that will make be immunosuppressed so not sure.

I'm immunosuppressed. I take RA meds. I don't really leave the house much but I still feel ok now I'm triple jabbed to leave the house without one. My nan still wears hers in the supermarket I think. But she does have a lung disorder and she's in her 80s

'Interesting' that people are using this thread to push their Covid misinformation and messages designed to make mask wearers feel uncomfortable. Almost like there's some kind of agenda.

If this is aimed at me you're totally mistaken. I was genuinely curious

That’s good you feel happy to do it. I may be on the same meds as you and it’s going to take me a little time to adjust. I don’t wear a mask outside and will go to a friend’s house but in public indoor area I wear them.

Our rate is 497 and I think about to go up as seems to be getting into local secondary school again so am being cautious as had covid March 2020 and on inhaler as a result . Combined with my joints currently misbehaving I don’t much want it again right now and with a DC in A level year I will do whatever I can to keep him in school having a normal life as possible.

Very much case of each to their own I feel.

Oh totally. The only places I really go if I leave the house is the pub if truth be told. Or a friends and neither are very often. I have all shopping delivered now and I still wear a mask in medical settings. I work from home too. I did pop into Morrisons on Saturday night with dp to get some snacks and we didn't have a mask with us but the store was practically empty.

Also I hope you go on ok with your new meds.

Thank you very much. It’s not definite yet, more tests booked over next few weeks then back to Consultant. Another reason I am being careful right now as don’t want to cancel any of my next 4 medical appointments having actually got them.

Utter rubbish.

Maybe you don't remember non mask wearers even after July 19th when you didn't have to being called selfish fucking cunts on here.

Are you ok? I don’t mean to pry but I see you on nearly every thread about masks mentioning how you were called the selfish f-ing c word.

It seems to have affected you greatly. Honestly, it’s not worth getting upset by randoms on the internet a lot of whom are out to just wind people up.

Againstmachine · 15/11/2021 18:38

Nope it's this same thread it's not multiple threads. I just don't like the hypocrisy of some.

Timescale · 15/11/2021 18:44

@Againstmachine ok, I just thought I’d seen you post this previously but I haven’t really been paying that much attention so im obviously mistaken.

However, it definitely isn’t worth getting wound up by random posters.

Here in my state in the USA, indoor mask wearing is still mandatory, and in my area at least, it is at best 50% having one somewhere on their head. The number of people actually wearing correct masks, and wearing them correctly, and also taking into account how many of those are properly washing them...we are at 10% tops. Again, in a state where they are mandatory. The vast majority of people here are just done with all this, an nobody gives two shits if someone is or isn't wearing a mask.
