AZ + Pfizer booster - side effects?

YukoandHiro · 12/11/2021 06:43

I'm going for my booster this morning. Had awful side effects for 48 hours with my first AZ but nothing on the second.
How have you all fared with adding Pfizer to the mix (I'm pretty sure I'll get Pfizer as I'm going to the same centre my husband went to the other day and that's what they gave him)

I had AZ for my first two jabs with side effects that sound similar to yours.

I then had the Pfizer for my booster a couple of weeks ago and had barely any reaction - a sore arm for a few days and I was a little bit tired for a day but that was it.

Hope your booster is similarly uneventful!

Hello I had a reaction to AZ. I fell asleep pretty much the entire day and night after having it at 11am. I had a sore arm for about 3-4 weeks and a persistent headache after each vaccine.

I had Pfizer on Weds. I’ve been incredibly tired, slight headache, sore arm (but no where near as bad as AZ with AZ my arm would wake me in the night if I rolled onto it) with Pfizer my neck, shoulder are aching and I have a very sore lower back! Also very low on energy - keep falling asleep randomly!

Hoping today is better as will be 48 hours later today.

I had a reaction to the first AZ then nothing to the 2nd. Had a Pfizer booster last week and was a bit unwell during the night - a very bad headache and shivery (but hot!). Was tired with an achy arm, neck and shoulder for the next couple of days but nothing too bad - once the headache had gone it was manageable without any painkillers

Switch82 · 12/11/2021 07:24

Oh forgot the shivers been a little shivery

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/11/2021 07:29

As far as I know everyone gets the Pfizer as a booster. I was the same,I had terrible vertigo for weeks after the first AZ,then fine after the second so really hoping the booster isn't too bad.

Cookerhood · 12/11/2021 08:44

Everyone gets an mRNA booster (Pfizer or Moderna) unless there's a clinical reason not to. Mostly it's Pfizer because there isn't so much Moderna available.

YukoandHiro · 12/11/2021 10:39

It's done now! I will report back

Had awful nausea and general rough hungover feeling on both my AZ jabs
Nothing at all after the Pfizer’s just the usual tenderness at injection site
Hope you’re doing well OP

LuluBlakey1 · 13/11/2021 00:47

None with any of the vaccs including flu.

YukoandHiro · 13/11/2021 08:33

Mild headache last night and dead arm. That's it! What a relief.
Hope you all get off easily.

Ooh interesting @Switch82 I also have a sore lower back but assumed that was linked to my pre existing bowel issues and nothing to do with the jab

Minor side effect (headache) with 1st AZ.
Bad headache and migraine with 2nd AZ.
Zero effects with Pfizer.

Angel2702 · 13/11/2021 08:44

I’m in the same boat. Got booster this morning after two AZ. Bit worried as I had no reaction or side effects at all from AZ.

cafedesreves · 13/11/2021 08:49

I had 2xAZ then Pfizer booster on Thursday...
I had a sore arm and felt a bit tender, achy and coldy but nothing a couple of paracetamol wouldn't solve.

muldersspeedos · 13/11/2021 08:56

I was so ill after the first AZ. Vomiting, splitting headache, severe aches in my legs and hips and back, shaking, sinus pain. I've never been so ill and I was in the verge of sepsis with a kidney infection a few years back. I dreaded the second AZ but was fine. Had my Pfizer booster yesterday and felt very tired and my existing aches and pains are worse including a bad head. My arm is sore but not fussed about that. The arm is definitely the vaccine but everything else could just be the awful week I've had and existing conditions. I've felt sick though. Can't say I feel too peachy at all but I'll take this over that first vaccine any day and I'm so grateful to have now had my booster.

I was just coming on to post my own thread when I saw this do thanks OP and I'm glad you are ok.

Lower back pain resolved in 24 hours. Headache didn’t though - this morning and overnight had a headache over my left eye. So bad it woke me in the night. Today I’m much better but still tired.

ilovesooty · 13/11/2021 22:58

I had no after effects with any of them, not even a sore arm.

Angel2702 · 13/11/2021 23:38

So far all I’ve had since this morning is a sore arm, which has been getting steadily more stiff and painful as the day went on.

muldersspeedos · 14/11/2021 11:20

I kept being woken up by a sore arm pit and headache and the back and hip pain yesterday was bad. I'm on the sofa with a hot water bottle trying to ease the back and hip pain. I'm already on strong painkillers and still in considerable pain and tired. Still it's a massive improvement from the AZ side effect and I'm glad to have had my booster now. If the headache would go I'd feel so much better. I'm hoping more side effects equal a better immune response Grin

Onelifeonly · 14/11/2021 11:58

Tired for a few hours the next morning after first AZ, nothing after the second (maybe sore arm, lost track). Pfizer booster yesterday. Sore arm after a few hours which got a lot worse in the night. Also fluey feeling after about 12 hours which I still have. Staying in bed for now.

Sonex · 14/11/2021 12:48

2 AZ and a Pfizer here. no noticeable side effects after the Pfizer booster except a mildly sore arm that lasted less than a day.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 14/11/2021 13:01

I reacted to everything but I think that is partly due to my Crohn's disease. I always react to things! I reacted to Piriton syrup once!

Starlightstarbright1 · 14/11/2021 20:02

I had most side effecyt to first Az- sick, shivers, headache, aches and pains, temperature was ill for 36 hours

Sevond - felt like i had a drink, headache but cleared by paracetamol

Had Pfizer yesterday- feel achy and sick, tired. Hoping to feel better in the morning.

muldersspeedos · 14/11/2021 20:15

I'm feeling better tonight thank goodness and I'm hoping I sleep better. Looking at the patient info leaflet I've been the lucky one to have some of the rare side effects alone with the common ones Sad

GoodnightGrandma · 14/11/2021 20:16

Worst side effects were 1st AZ. 2nd and Pfizer were no problem.
