40% decrease for hospitality trade since introducing vaccine passports

Heard on the car radio yesterday that it's been reported that since vaccine passports were introduced, the hospitality trade are experiencing a 40% decrease in custom.

Why would that be? There's not 40% of adults unvaccinated is there? Is it likely many vaccinated customers are staying away in protest?

I’m staying away because the rates are so high - with so many double jabbed people getting it and having a pretty awful time of it (while not actually being hospitalised) I’ve got no real desire to spend my money on drink and food. I’m still spending, just in other areas.

@bumbleymummy

At least if you go to someone's house you can all do lateral flows first.

Do people still do this?

For people who a false positive isn't going to be a big deal, asymptomatic testing is a useful measure which helps reduce chains of transmission caused by people walking around unware they have coronavirus.

Clearly it's not something you want to do, but no need to sniff at the people who are! I certainly appreciate the effort..

Yup. I also do one every time I go into work (work policy) and before I go out for a meal with friends. It's not difficult and at least reduces the risk of us infecting each other.

Seems a bit daft not to really, but I understand some people like to pretend it's all over.

You just need to type in "hospitality scotland covid" into Google and click on the news tab to read the headlines.

Half of businesses oppose extension.
Massive step backwards.
Scottish pubs face nightmare before Christmas.
Hospitality staff lose £200 per week because of vaccine passport.

And that's just the first page. Meanwhile, Queen Nicola whores herself around the Cop26 conference, maskless. Taking selfies with anyone who goes within 10 feet of her and dishing out free samples of Irn Bru.

Also, if you don't have a smartphone, or don't have access to a printer (like my parents) you have to phone the "helpline" and ask for a copy in the post. Which it says will arrive "within 14 days".

So for thousands of people who don't have a smartphone and don't have a printer, a trip to the theatre, a concert, pantomime or sporting event is out of the question.

@CorrBlimeyGG

Do you have a source on this please?

Do you have a source that links the decrease in footfall with vaccine passports? Your claims are based on anecdata, and fail to appreciate the difference between correlation and causation.

MY claims? Are you serious?

Read the thread, or at least my posts. I am LOOKING FOR a source of these claims - that's what the thread is about!!

Wow, and now the Sturgeon haters have had the signal.

I wanted to know if anyone else had heard the same claims and if anyone could direct me towards further info or sources to back up validity.

Never mind.
