Can someone with risk factors who has had Covid reassure me

Tested postitive (very faintly) on lf this morning, awaiting pcr results. I have a high bmi (41) and have dodgy lungs I'm terrified about dying. I am double vaccinated but I'm just so scared of something happening to me and leaving my 3 dc without a mum. Can anyone who is high risk and has had Covid and it not been too bad reassure me? I'd be so grateful, I know higher risk doesn't mean going to die but my anxiety is not great at the minute Thank you 😊

I caught it a few weeks ago. I was on the shielding list when that was a thing, double-vaxed early etc. I had a temperature, a foggy head and a headache with a runny nose. Lost taste & smell for about 3 weeks. That was it. I'm now fine, just have a lasting taste/smell of smoke.

Thank you! You hear all the scary stories but not so much the normal and none eventful cases. I wasn't on the shielding list. Priority group 6 I think when it came to vaccinations, so not the highest at risk.

I'm asthmatic and my BMI is high (overweight category). Double jabbed, caught covid when I was 36 weeks pregnant. I felt rough for a few days, but headaches/cold/fatigue. I barely had a cough and didn't need to increase my use of my inhalers. I'm still exhausted 3 weeks later but then I am still very pregnant, so it could just be that!

I completely understand your anxiety, I was very upset when I tested positive, but my case was very mild and I was absolutely fine, I think because of the vaccines. I'm sure you'll be fine too, hope you feel better soon

This is an extreme example but a close friends Nan who is in her 90’s had covid not long ago. Double vaxxed but not boosted. She ended up on a ventilator but within a couple days made a big improvement & on day 4 was back on a ward on oxygen. Was discharged after 9 days and is doing extremely well. I bump into her in the co-op fairly often & she said she was fed up of being in the house and had come out against orders a couple weeks ago 😂 saw her a couple days ago & she looks well. Said she’s still a bit breathless & tired but otherwise OK!

You’ll almost certainly be OK OP!

Thank you, I really hope so. It might not even have been a line yet, it's a squinter (much like when I took pregnancy tests haha) and my husband couldn't even see it, so fingers crossed the pcr is negative

My BMI is around 41, on top of which I am 57 and have type 2 diabetes. In February I got a letter telling me I’d been reclassified as being at high risk of being seriously ill if I caught Covid and was advised to shield.

Too late!

Had Covid at New Year, before vaccination. I was very fatigued for about two weeks, then steadily recovered over the next three. Had an annoying cough, but never breathless.

I’m fine.

I got covid three weeks ago, I'm double vaccinated and risk factors of being obese with asthma.

I was pretty ill with high temperature and flu type symptoms but didn't get a cough at all. Three weeks later and I'm feeling pretty much recovered, a little bit weak and tired but nothing terrible.

My BMI was over 40 when I got it unvaccinated last Dec. Have had worse colds.

Yes, both. It wasn't at all nice but I got through and didn't need oxygen or a ventilator, which were the outcomes I was most worried about. I'm ok now. Was double jabbed. Try not to worry.

OP I know how worrying it is.

I had covid at the beginning of September. I'm 49, high BMI (about 35), high blood pressure, have an autoimmune condition and am on immunosuppressant medication. I was fully expecting that, if I caught it, I'd be very ill.

I was completely asymptomatic. I only found out I had it because I did a regular LFT. Thank goodness for vaccines!

Not me, but my morbidly obese, 60 year old type 2 diabetic aunt with thyroid problems and asthma sailed through COVID with no issues.

Currently on day 4, so not out of the woods yet, but on comparable days I've been much less ill than my partner. I've got a bad headache and aching limbs and started coughing yesterday. I'm only taking normal painkillers. I'll phone my surgery tomorrow to cancel my booster appt (typical, was booked for next week), and will check with them if I need to do anything else while ill, but so far I would describe covid as 'I'm ill but fine'.

I have a similar BMI to yours OP, and I have had other viruses make me much more ill than covid did. I had all the classic symptoms but not ill enough to have to stay in bed and never worried about breathing at all. Hope it’s mild for you, the odds are very much in your favour that all will be fine.

@OrbOrRobe - same here, Factor V Leiden with history of DVT and PE. When I phone in the morning to cancel my booster, I'll ask the GP to confirm that I don't need to do anything with blood thinners. I'll let you know.

Interestingly, one of my significant symptoms is aching legs - nice and worrying.

Oh no :( everything's a worry isn't it when you get a leg or chest pain. If it's any Reassurance my brother had it abs his Main complaint was really achy body, legs in particular

Yes I've seen lots of people have a head and leg ache combo - which is the same here. I've been stretching and not sitting down for hours, it doesn't feel like DVT pain.

Yes! Same aunt had a DVT some years ago.

I’ve had cancer treatment and had a PE while I was having chemo. Tested positive just over two weeks ago. Weirdly, I felt like I had the worst head cold ever, cough caused by post-nasal drip, fever, fatigue and aching bones. It didn’t go to my chest at all. There were 24-36 hours where I felt terrible and was worried, so I kept checking my oxygen levels, but it passed and became more like a winter bug. I still have no taste/smell and fatigue but I’m otherwise hopefully fine. Good luck OP, hope you are ok

I'm overweight, asthmatic and caught covid before I had been vaccinated.

I had a sore throat and was tired.......that was it.

I've got covid now.. currently on day 4 but am starting to feel better than I did before.

I've got multiple risk factors..
..35 weeks pregnant
..gestational diabetes treated by insulin
...massively overweight - BMI was 45 before pregnancy due to limited mobility due to long term illness
..risk of blood clots so on dalteparin injections daily
..autoimmune disorder with an immune system that doesn't work as it should
..on immunosuppressive medication due to the autoimmune disorder.
..breathless before covid due to anemia/pregnancy

Was convienced if I caught covid I'd be very ill. Don't get me wrong I've been ill but I've had worse colds. (Unless it comes back with a vengeance in the next few days)

My symptoms
Day one - just felt off with a bit of a low grade headache
Day two - exhausted, worse headache but Paracetamol helped, contestation/sinus pressure, aching joints, hot/cold flushes although my temp was always in the high 35c ranges.
Day three - pretty much same as above minus the aching joints. With the addition of a mucus cough.
Day four - congestion/sinus pressure but far less, still coughing and that's it today.

Hoping it means I'm over the worst of it :) I'm double vaccinated, am due booster jab 1 December so hadn't had that yet.
