Can someone with risk factors who has had Covid reassure me

Tested postitive (very faintly) on lf this morning, awaiting pcr results.

I have a high bmi (41) and have dodgy lungs
I'm terrified about dying. I am double vaccinated but I'm just so scared of something happening to me and leaving my 3 dc without a mum.

Can anyone who is high risk and has had Covid and it not been too bad reassure me?

I'd be so grateful, I know higher risk doesn't mean going to die but my anxiety is not great at the minute

Thank you 😊

Two of my friends who are high risk caught it last winter before vaccines were out. Both were fine after a few days in bed.

I had it about 4 weeks ago, I have multiple risk factors (although I wasn't on first shielding list) including asthma, kidney disease and my bmi is far higher than yours. I'm mostly recovered bar some exacerbation of my asthma and I'm waiting for blood tests to check on my kidney function 🤞🏼

I’m presuming that since it’s been evident for at least 18 months now that obesity is the second major risk factor for covid after age that you’ve done all you can to reduce your risk and ease your fear of death by losing some weight and improving your health. So you should be confident that you’ve done everything you can.

No, In fact I've gained weight. Completely self sabotaging but the last couple of weeks I've been calorie counting and have lost half a stone so hopefully that will continue.

@Taenia

I've got covid now.. currently on day 4 but am starting to feel better than I did before.

I've got multiple risk factors..
..35 weeks pregnant
..gestational diabetes treated by insulin
...massively overweight - BMI was 45 before pregnancy due to limited mobility due to long term illness
..risk of blood clots so on dalteparin injections daily
..autoimmune disorder with an immune system that doesn't work as it should
..on immunosuppressive medication due to the autoimmune disorder.
..breathless before covid due to anemia/pregnancy

Was convienced if I caught covid I'd be very ill. Don't get me wrong I've been ill but I've had worse colds. (Unless it comes back with a vengeance in the next few days)

My symptoms
Day one - just felt off with a bit of a low grade headache
Day two - exhausted, worse headache but Paracetamol helped, contestation/sinus pressure, aching joints, hot/cold flushes although my temp was always in the high 35c ranges.
Day three - pretty much same as above minus the aching joints. With the addition of a mucus cough.
Day four - congestion/sinus pressure but far less, still coughing and that's it today.

Hoping it means I'm over the worst of it :) I'm double vaccinated, am due booster jab 1 December so hadn't had that yet.

Thank you, I hope you continue to improve and are over the worst

God I so hate pointless passive aggressive posts like this. Hardly helpful to the OP even if the underlying thrust of what you’re getting at is on point

I am BMI 42 and most normal colds I get end up as a chest infection. I had covid a couple of months ago (fully vaccinated) and it was nowhere near as bad as my normal chest infections. I could feel it had moved to my lungs and it felt like a mild chest infection for a few days but then after a week it was almost gone and within 2 weeks I was completely back to normal Smile

Ermengarde · 08/11/2021 20:03

Also I had a pulse oximeter which I (rather obsessively) checked and found hugely reassuring

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 08/11/2021 21:12

@OrborRobe - no need for clexane/fragmin for me with covid according to the GP. Just told to try and keep moving, and if sitting down for long periods of time (I've done 6 hours on the sofa today), then to do the alphabet with your feet. This is what I do on long haul flights.

I'm a fat, 42yo diabetic. I caught it in September and had about 2 weeks of feeling really rough, but not rough enough to need medical attention. I spent an entire week in bed, not eating anything, only getting up to go to the toilet and get more lemsip or ibuprofen. But after about a week I was well enough to get up and do jobs around the house, but needed a couple of decent naps a day. I was back at work 2 weeks after my positive test.

OrborRobe · 08/11/2021 21:18

UPDATE

so my pcr came back negative after all. But I'm glad I had the scare as I've really got the kick I needed. I've been 300-400 under my cal allowance the last few days and eaten between 6-8 portions of fruit and veg as well as drinking plenty of water and moving a lot more

Thank you all for the reassurance

I'm glad you got a good result. I hope you're feeling better too!

Also be reassured that two new drugs on the market are now making a big difference to hospital cases, if the worst were to happen.
