Did anyone feel sick?

God I feel so sick & my tummy feels like it’s churning. DS tested positive on Friday and the rest of us are waiting pcr results.

I have felt fine until this afternoon when I suddenly started feeling really nauseous. No cough or headache or sore throat. Little bit achey & trembly.

Anyone else felt like this & any suggestions to deal with the hideous nausea?!

@NorthSouthcatlady oh crikey, did anything help relieve it at all?

It came on very suddenly and she felt OK by by next morning but then she developed cold symptoms. Didn't test positive for two more days. We thought at the time it was food poisoning but we'd eaten exactly the same thing and I was fine so now we think it was the start of her symptoms. She didn't have sickness after that first bout.

Littlemiss74 · 24/10/2021 22:47

Ok thank you @OldWivesTale i hope she is all better now. Just going to have to take this at a day at a time I suppose

Yes, we all felt nauseous but none of us were actually sick. It didn't last long though.

Einszwei · 24/10/2021 22:51

Yes. Extreme nausea for over a week. Started a couple of days after positive LFT. Was prescribed antiemetics.

chesirecat99 · 24/10/2021 22:53

DS and his friends all had D&V for the first 24 hours with the delta variant, then cold symptoms. No cough at all for the first 48 hours. It also took 48 hours to get a positive LFT. Totally different symptoms from the first time he had COVID and much milder. They were all single or double vaxxed.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Willow200 · 24/10/2021 22:56

I had sickness on and off with covid. Nausea was awful.

Fiftythreepercent · 24/10/2021 23:05

Also nausea

I thought it was vertigo so took my stemetil tablets they worked quite well. Maybe try motion sickness tablets. It’s not like noro where the nausea and sickness has a purpose to rid you of the virus

Ashard20 · 24/10/2021 23:08

@Littlemiss74
Yes the whole way through. Five weeks later and I still can't stomach the thought of coffee and still have no sense of taste or smell.
I did read somewhere that if you're affected by gastric symptoms, it can take longer to get rid of it, but it doesn't always seem to be the case.

Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 05:55

Well the pcr results are back; DH positive, DD & I are negative! I’m wondering if my test was done too early as I didn’t feel unwell then, I got the test because my DS tested positive and T&T advised us foo. It’s going to be fun trying to look after them all today whilst feeling this sick & trying to wfh!

Did anyone else have a negative pcr followed by a positive a few days later?

Don't work from home if you are sick. Covid or not take the day off.

It's easy to get a negative PCR followed by a positive one if you got the PCR whilst feeling well and you now feel unwell, especially if you know covid is in your household.

Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 06:15

@Partyintheusa2012 thanks, wondering how long to wait before doing another pcr then. Should I give it a couple more days?
I’ve hardly slept all night as am stuck on sofa whilst dh isolates in bedroom. I’m meant to be taking holiday from work weds-fri this week and so have stuff I needed to finish off before then. I don’t think my boss will be very happy if I’m not around today or tomorrow either but i just feel so rubbish. Would just have been easier for work purposes if the pcr had been positive.

Now I’m thinking perhaps it’s another kind of bug after all!

Just done a lateral flow & there is the faintest of lines.. shall i leave it another day before getting a further pcr?

OP posts:
Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 18:48

Just done another pcr so will see if I get a different result now I’m feeling rough.

The nausea is just awful - does anyone have any more suggestions for anything that might help with it?

My go to for nausea is anything with ginger in. Sip on some ginger beer/ale or tea.
Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 18:51

Thank you @XenoBitch ginger biscuits..?😄

DD's only symptom was nausea fit a couple of days, then the headache started.

Bookridden · 25/10/2021 19:26

Yes, I had nausea for several days as part of being really unwell with Covid. I asked the GP for help, and they prescribed Buccastem and Metalclopromide (sp?) which helped.

joysmoy66 · 25/10/2021 19:42

Nausea was my first symptom that and a churning stomach. Followed by headache, temperature and fatigue and loss of taste and smell.I'm on day 3 now. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 19:45

@PanicBuyingSprouts can you remember if your daughters’ nausea was before she got a positive test? That and feeling shaky & some tummy ache are all I’ve had so far really & the first pcr was negative followed by faint positive lat flow.

OP posts:
Littlemiss74 · 25/10/2021 19:54

@joysmoy66 thank you, yes that’s exactly what I’ve had a churning stomach & horrid nausea. Can I ask at what point you got a positive pcr? I had my pcr before I had any symptoms as my ds had tested positive & it was negative. Then a faint positive lateral flow this am. I suppose i’m just wondering if it is covid after all or another bug, i have to say I’d never heard of these kind of symptoms before. I hope you feel better soon.
