Just had my 2nd AZ dose come soothe my anxiety

Have put off my second dose for too long and have finally given my head a wobble and gone and had it done just now.

The woman was very nice and reassuring and kind but I’m now sat in my car at McDonald’s with a coffee feeling a bit tearful.

So please come and reassure me. I’ll take anything from gentle hair stroking to AIBU style arse kicking. I have no idea when I turned into such an anxious person Sad

Well done, OP. You made a sensible decision. The risks from the second dose of AZ are very low. And a lot of the people in hospital with covid right now are unvaccinated. You've done the right thing!

GoodnightGrandma · 24/10/2021 14:57

Well done you !
Two weeks from now you will have your full immunity going into winter.
No need to feel anxious, feel empowered.

Ilikewinter · 24/10/2021 15:02

No need to feel anxious, your antibodies will be at the highest level right as we are heading into the shit show thats unfolding.....Ive just had my flu jab AND booster jab...nothing is taking me down this year !!

SnarkyBag · 24/10/2021 15:07

Thank you u you our replies actually do really mean a lot. I’m usually quite a sensible person but seem to have lost the plot somewhere along the line.

I must admit the unfolding shit show and constant worry about rising cases (I work in schools) has pushed me on. I was ill a couple of weeks ago but PCR was negative and the stress of worrying if it was covid was just as anxiety inducing. I suppose at least now I’ve done all I can.

Just need to not get in a tizz over the next few weeks about blood clots!

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfMN · 24/10/2021 15:12

Well done. I think you’ll feel very relieved to have this protection.

As for worrying about blood clots etc, I always try to think things like… well, I’ll never be the one in X million people to win the euro millions, why would a reaction to a vaccine be any different 😂

Enjoy your coffee. It’s done and over Smile

plinkplinkfizzer · 24/10/2021 15:13

Well done OP you have done the right thing for your household , a bit like throwing a ring of defence around your loved ones . Did you get the flu jab too ?

Whataday21 · 24/10/2021 15:13

Well done! You'll be fine!!

AlexaShutUp · 24/10/2021 15:13

You'll be fine, OP. I think the risk of blood clots is really tiny after the second dose.

I have just recovered from covid after dd caught it in school. I was so very grateful to have had my two jabs. My unvaccinated friend ended up in hospital, despite being healthy with no underlying conditions.

SnarkyBag · 24/10/2021 15:14

No it was just a walk in covid vaccine centre they weren’t offering flu jabs. I will get that one done which oddly doesn’t worry me at all. No logic with anxiety right?!

AlexaShutUp · 24/10/2021 15:15

It isn't logical, OP, but it feels very real. You were brave to get the jab despite your anxiety.

Indeed I have had quite a bit in premium bonds for the last 3 years and Mr Millions is yet to knock on my door!

Well done OP. Totally anecdotal I know, but I had some side effects with my first AZ dose but nothing at all with my second 🙂

Djifunrsn · 24/10/2021 15:17

I would focus on the increased protection you just got against covid. My 2nd AZ jab was almost 5 months ago and this month I caught covid. I was horribly ill and I think the protection from my jabs had decreased quite significantly.

Djifunrsn · 24/10/2021 15:18

Our rates are massive so you got jabbed at a great time OP

Thank you. I’m glad people understand the ridiculousness of anxiety it really does get in the way of decision making sometimes!

Both my teens have just had Pfizer and I didn’t hesitate to get them protected.

Yes I’m hoping the one benefit to my silliness will be that having it now will be beneficial against the coming winter.

greenlynx · 24/10/2021 15:24

I know it sounds boring but you did absolutely the right thing! I had my first before all this talk about clots started so it was a bit easier. With the second one I decided that if it’s ok after the first it should be ok after the second. It worked.

SnarkyBag · 24/10/2021 15:27

@greenlynx not boring at all it’s just what I need to hear right now!

Well done on getting your vaccine

You've done something amazing to protect yourself and others who can't for medical reasons

You've made the sensible decision

Now treat yourself to a Big Mac or double cheeseburger and relax Smile

Cuck00soup · 24/10/2021 15:37

Well done! Are you in Scotland or have you managed to find a supply somewhere in England? I wonder if you would be prepared to drop a hint about where this was so that others can access it?

MistyFrequencies · 24/10/2021 15:39

If it helps both my kids have just had Covid. They're 3 and 4 so have been coughing all over me, slept in my bed, snot on my face etc and I have tested negative (PCR) twice and never got it. I had Astra Zeneca in May. So you're doing the right thing, you are protecting yourself. It does work.

SnarkyBag · 24/10/2021 15:50

@Cuck00soup I’ve been trying to get my second jab for a couple of weeks but very few places are offering AZ. Trying to book online brings my closest place as Rugby or Coventry (bloody miles and miles away). I ended up searching and trawling online info for local walk in centres by county and found some in Bucks and Northamptonshire. Seems you have to check daily or first thing Monday as there go from being no places doing it to maybe one or two but only limited days and opening times.

OP posts:
Whataboutme21 · 24/10/2021 15:50

Well done op! I’m just 28 days past my first dose of AZ today, I had put it off due to my anxiety and I’m not going to lie the last 4 weeks have been torture and I’m now worried about the 2nd dose, so I know rubbish anxiety is!
Think you’ve done the right thing especially with cases rising and coming into winter

SnarkyBag · 24/10/2021 15:52

I was worried because I don’t live in bucks or Northamptonshire that a walk in place would send me away but they didn’t care about address

Well done. Trust the science. Certainly trust the science over random people on social media.
