Are Test and Trace just not bothering now?

Tested positive on a PCR test on Wednesday. I've filled in all the online information for T&T but haven't heard a dickiebird. Certainly no-one has checked in to see if I'm staying at home. Are they too overwhelmed with cases to bother now?

I believe DS has been a close contact of several children over the last month. No contact via test and trace for them. We have done LFTs and pcr but I was expecting to hear from Test and Trace.

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 23/10/2021 12:16

We got one call 24 hours after testing positive but nothing after that

Bsmirched · 23/10/2021 12:22

@trumpisagit if they're contacts from school, you won't. I'm a teacher and the information we have from DFE/PHE is that close contacts will not arise from a school setting, but from activities like sleepovers. Insane, but there you are!

My DD's PT tested positive last Friday and she had a call from T&T on Saturday telling her to book a PCR test for Sunday. Hers was negative and today she got a text from the ONS saying she will be contacted about her T&T experience!

Burnerphone21 · 23/10/2021 12:38

Dd1 tested positive 3 weeks ago. I had a call within an hour if result which took nearly an hour. All the close contacts were called too with the info I gave.

Bsmirched · 23/10/2021 13:04

They must be monitoring Mumsnet as I've just had a call! Interestingly, he referred to a "previous" call, which I definitely haven't had.

I must have had at least 3 calls from them when I was ill two weeks ago. Then when my husband and son succumbed, several further calls in relation to them.

thingamebob · 23/10/2021 13:20

My DS tested positive Monday on LFT, confirmed by PCR test Tues, we've not heard a thing!

P1nkSparkles · 23/10/2021 13:26

My husband tested positive at the weekend and we've had pretty much daily calls from them. And all his close contacts were contacted within the hour.

CuriousUnderTheStairs · 23/10/2021 13:32

Over yhe past 6 weeks my children have all had numerous very close contact with positive cases both inside and outside school. We've not had 1 call, in fact until I saw this post I'd forgotten Test and Trace was a thing!!

lilyfire · 23/10/2021 13:36

I tested positive on Tuesday. Filled in the info on line and had a call today to check I am isolating. Was glad to be able to give the info on line as I had calls when kids tested positive and it takes so long to go through everything.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/10/2021 13:39

DH and I had 3 calls each, plus a call from our GP’s surgery each. I got a paramedic, JD got the GP- possibly as by then the whole house was positive. We also had calls from the county council support team.

DS (16) had one call and the GP. Wanted to know how he was.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/10/2021 13:39

JD= DH. Totally random initial choices!

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/10/2021 13:45

My details were given to T&T three times as a close contact. I've never heard a word from them.

Hobbes8 · 23/10/2021 13:53

The guidance around schools is bonkers. My daughter wasn’t identified as a close contact of the 8 positive cases amongst her classmates, with whom she spends all week in an unventilated room. We got contacted because she saw one of them in the park.

twocatsandtwokids · 23/10/2021 14:06

I had three calls from T&T, spaced out over the 3 days. My daughter (5) had none, so maybe they don’t call for children who don’t have their own phone number 🤷‍♀️

twocatsandtwokids · 23/10/2021 14:07

Oh - they did call to go through her contact info though, that took 40 minutes 😬

julieca · 23/10/2021 14:16

We had a call but they only asked about contacts a few days before the positive PCR test when we already knew we were positive from lateral flow tests. We contacted anyone we had been in touch with, some of whom are now positive.

WombatChocolate · 23/10/2021 15:41

We were called at least every other day.

To start with it was a bit annoying…both of us registered as Covid positive and listed each other as contacts. We then had calls as people who had Covid and as contacts too, telling us to test., system couldn’t cope with idea we had already tested and were a,ready positive.

Can’t fault them for thoroughness though.

Missikat13 · 23/10/2021 15:49

DS 5 tested positive a couple of weeks ago. Got a call from T&T for him within 24 hours of the positive result. They asked me who he'd been in close contact with in school, I can only guess at his two friends I know (and who I have contact details for their mums which I gave) but any of the other children he had been sitting/playing with for the 2 days prior (which is probably a fair few) then no idea. They will not have been informed. They asked me about his time in school 'is it a busy environment', 'is he always at least 2m from other people?' 'is it inside?' which is just so ridiculous given how schools here are! All the closer contacts I gave were contacted by text within an hour or so to recommend pcrs.

whojamaflip · 23/10/2021 16:09

I run a youth group and 2 of the children (from 2 different families) tested positive within 48 hours of attending. Both sets of parents contacted me and said they had passed details of the group onto track and trace.

That was 2 weeks ago and I've had no contact at all. I understand that they tend not to contact under 18s but we have 6 adults helping with the group.....

Metabigot · 23/10/2021 16:27

I thought its all done by computer now. Got a positive pcr confirmed this morning with an email and clicky link to give them details of contacts.
An hour later I was on the phone to one of my contacts and they had an email from test and trace. Presumably the others have to. Not a human being in sight.

Metabigot · 23/10/2021 16:27

*have too

notacooldad · 23/10/2021 16:31

They phoned me every other day and sent a text thanking me for not going out on the other days. On the day before the final day I got a phone call with a load of questions asking how I felt. This was nearly two weeks ago.

RifRafia · 23/10/2021 16:55

My son had a sleepover with 3 friends for his birthday 2 weeks ago, in an indoor tent so I would def assume close contact.

One of his friends tested positive around 9 days ago. His mum texted me letting me know she had passed my details on to T&T, but haven't heard a thing from them Confused. I'm doing the responsible thing and all doing daily LFTs, but I think it's shocking that there doesn't appear to be any proper tracing being done.
