I think I have covid and my wedding is two weeks tomorrow

Just here for a rant and a hand hold really. Can’t actually believe this is happening. Sore throat started this morning, temp just now 100.5 and coughing has started up too.

We’ve had several positive lateral flows at work which then led to negative PCRs, so people with symptoms have been coming back in thinking they don’t have it but we now think possibly they do( I’m in the SW where this has been an issue recently).

If I do have it, I’d be out of isolation by the wedding, but DP or DD could get it later on so everything would be called off anyway. Tbh I’m more concerned about everyone being ok, I spent the afternoon with my mum and elderly aunt yesterday- both fully vaccinated but still a worry!

We’ve been so careful since the start as I was pregnant for a lot of it, but at the last second it’s all gone wrong 😩 so depressing. I’m trying to be thankful for everyone still being healthy but we can’t afford to do this wedding again so I’m a bit sad.

There is a horrid cold going around. Get a pcr.

Tulips15 · 08/10/2021 21:36

Nearly Half of Dc school is off at moment with a bad cough/Cold & temp.
None tested positive so far- Inc my own DC, who have the above symptoms.
It could be the same for you?

sachaf08 · 08/10/2021 21:36

@Stopsnowing sorry should have said, pcr booked for tomorrow afternoon.

OP posts:
sachaf08 · 08/10/2021 21:38

@Tulips15 I really hope so, I’m just not holding out much hope because some people at my work have actually had positive lateral flows AND pcrs, and some have only had the lateral flows, but all similar symptoms. It was on our regional news last night, the advice was to still isolate if positive lateral flow/neg pcr + symptoms because likely still covid 😬

Here’s to a swift recovery and negative PCR OP!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Bobholll · 08/10/2021 21:46

If you do have to cancel your wedding, you won’t lose your money surely? I got married in summer & there were covid clauses in every contract I signed. Our venue allowed two date moves. Hair & makeup could be re-booked for free. The florist I’d lose 50% I think but not all..

Really hope it’s not OP! There lots of nasty germs going round, our immune systems are deffo suffering from lockdown last winter!

sachaf08 · 08/10/2021 21:53

@Bobholll yes definitely agree with you p, I had a cold two weeks ago and a sickness bug last week and now this! Immune system is clearly shot.

We wouldn’t lose all the money, but the big things (marquee, food) were booked before covid as this date is actually postponed by a year. It’s tricky because the insurance doesn’t cover covid, so I think we’d be relying on their goodwill! I may be overworrying as they might actually be very helpful. Here’s hoping!

@Thewiseoneincognito thank you 🤞🤞🤞

multivac · 08/10/2021 22:00

Have you done a LFT, OP? As you say, if that's +ve, you likely have it, regards of PCR result (especially a test centre PCR). Isolate, look after yourself, and keep everything crossed! Sending good hopes for your wedding x

Getoutofbed25 · 08/10/2021 22:04

We all have a really bad cold at the moment, sore throat, blocked nose, cough, bit of a temp, we have all tested negative on LFT and PCR. I hope you have a cold 🤞🏼

sachaf08 · 08/10/2021 22:16

@multivac the lft I did this morning was negative, have just done another and there is a faint line but not sure if I’m imagining it because I’ve done so many of them 🤨Thank you 😊

@Getoutofbed25 really hoping this is the case!

ThirdElephant · 09/10/2021 04:18

There is an absolutely stinking cold doing the rounds atm.

sachaf08 · 09/10/2021 07:01

Definitely a faint line on the test from last night now that I’ve looked again, it did come up within the time but is more noticeable now. 😩 I don’t feel as bad as I expected to this morning though!

ViceLikeBlip · 09/10/2021 07:16

I'm also SW and there has been a hideous cough/cold going round- literally hundreds of kids and staff at school have pcr tested negative. Hopefully your test will come back negative xx Ps I'm very impressed you're doing the responsible thing and testing (I'm not sure I would have)

Roystonv · 09/10/2021 07:21

Wishing you all the very best a horrid time for this to happen. My dd's postponed wedding in 4 weeks so I understand; so much hope and planning.

guiltynetter · 09/10/2021 07:33

Fingers crossed but if you do, 10 days isolation (from start of first symptom) you could still get married in 2 weeks! Assuming your H to be doesn't get it also...

guiltynetter · 09/10/2021 07:34

Sorry I read your post but managed to skip that whole paragraph 🤔

ittakes2 · 09/10/2021 08:01

I would make sure others in your family have a pcr at the same time as you. Because if they don't have symptoms, just incase they are positive track and trace with register their isolation period from the day they took their pcr test. I also thought the isolation period was 10 days. But if you don't have symptoms its from the day you take the test plus 10 days ie 11 days. So you just need to be careful on timings if you are getting married in two weeks.
I hope all goes well for you all.

tigerbear · 09/10/2021 08:09

Hi OP, so sorry this is happening to you.
I completely understand - something similar happened to me recently.
I went to a party 10 days before my wedding, where at least 6 people went on to get symptoms and test positive, and I then got pinged on the app to say to isolate for 10 days (this was just 4 days before the wedding - and just before the rules changed about not having to isolate if you had a neg PCR).
I paid for a private PCR (neg), then had to get permission from the venue, permission from the registrar, and tell all 70 guests the situation, to give them the option of not coming if they were worried.
We only had 2 guests drop out, and all went ahead. Hugely stressful though!
I really hope things go ahead and that you’re ok.

Hyacinth88 · 09/10/2021 08:13

Sorry this is happening but just for reassurance my unvaccinated 12 year old went to a friend's house.... After complaining of a headache.. Spent a whole day there.
Came home felt unwell cuddled up with me and her dad and sister on the sofa.
I suddenly realised it be best to do a LF.. Positive came up before the control line.
Positive pcr the next day.
She felt so unwell and wanted cuddles I got into her bed on a few occasions.
No one else caught it.

sachaf08 · 09/10/2021 09:38

@ViceLikeBlip really hope so, but I keep reading on Twitter (not the most reliable place I know) that if the lateral flow is positive and you have symptoms it’s almost definitely covid 😩 trying to stay positive but it’s hard. We do have at least one confirmed positive pcr at work as well. I think if I’d had extremely mild symptoms I would have been tempted to ignore, but it’s a full on dry cough and fever so can’t ignore it really and need to do the test for work.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes and positive vibes, really hoping this either isn’t covid or if it is, no one else gets it 🤞🤞

sachaf08 · 09/10/2021 09:41

@tigerbear wow so glad that all worked out for you! It’s so unbelievably stressful, can’t believe it now might not happen after postponing by a year.

OP posts:
Frazzled2207 · 09/10/2021 09:45

Sounds very stressful

If it helps at all I have been reading something this morning about the fact that lots of positive LFTs are turning into negative PCRs. One strong theory is that there are increasing numbers of coronaviruses circulating right now (As every winter)- covid 19 is one of many. And the LFTs are turning up positive with other coronaviruses (which cause the Common Cold) but the PCRs only go positive for covid -19. So all those positive LFTs might actually just be a cold.

Fingers crossed for your pcr.

tigerbear · 09/10/2021 09:48

@sachaf08 thank you. I really hope the same for you. Similarly, mine had also been postponed from July last year, then from May this year, so I understand the rollercoaster of replanning everything.
To have this added stress just before is so horrible, I really feel for you.
I also had symptoms before the wedding (headache and high temp) and was totally convinced it was Covid because of sitting right next to one of the people who had it at the party, but it wasn’t.

sachaf08 · 09/10/2021 09:54

@Frazzled2207 really hoping it’s this way around!!
