Catching covid from household members

DD (16) did several positive lateral flow tests on Sunday evening. Developed symptoms on Monday, currently waiting for a pcr. I fully expect it to come back positive as she has been in close contact with other confirmed cases. She had one jab back in August.

DH and I are both fully jabbed but we'll aware that we may contract the virus anyway. Neither of us have symptoms so far, we are also awaiting pcr results and isolating in the interim. I have done several lateral flow tests, all negative so far.

Just wondering if we are going to get it or not. 🤔 I know that nobody can tell me this, but if you caught covid from a household member, please could you tell me how long it took before you started to show symptoms/test positive? And if your household members had covid but didn't pass it on, could you tell me how strictly you isolated from them?

We cannot really isolate within the house as we only have one bathroom. And in any case, I am not going to hold back from giving dd a hug when she is clearly feeling rubbish. We are trying to be careful but not OTT iyswim. Just wondered what others' experiences have been of covid cases in the household, and when (if at allGrin) I should expect to get sick?!

Same situation here.
Ds2 tested positive (pcr) on Sunday following +Lf on sat, ds1 had symptoms on Monday. Pcr negative. Went back to school Tues and wed. Then became very poorly on Wed night. Did another pcr and this time tested positive. Dh tested positive Sunday. I'm now full of cold, negative Lf but waiting on pcr results!

Doesn't seem to be an exact science at all and someone I spoke to T&T said they seem to he getting a few negatives despite symptoms and then positives several days later?

Haven't kept away from family because the kids needed tlc for few days. Noone has been really poorly thus far..

Thanks all. I have now developed symptoms despite still doing negative lateral flows. Waiting for results of second pcr yesterday as first one couldn't be read. I'm pretty sure I have it now. Feeling a bit rubbish but not too bad so far. Hopefully the vaccines will have done enough to prevent any serious illness...

I've seen some people saying their lateral flows been negitive but PCR positive. My son had positive lateral flow tuesday after his friend got covid on friday. Since friday I've done morning and nightly lateral flows on me ( double jabs) and had a runny nose wednesday. Pcr was positive all the other lateral flows negitive and then out of curiosity did a lateral flow at lunch time yesterday and its STILL negitive. I help run a cafe aswell so I've seriously spread it without knowing. A customer that's a covid nurse told me about a month ago lateral flows dont work on the double jabbed and they clearly dont on me.

I have been doing ltf daily since my eldest tested positive, I was feeling a bit off with a scratchy throat yesterday but still negative. Tested this am and it’s a clear positive, will go for a pcr today but I would have thought that a pcr would have shown up yesterday - my last pcr was on Tuesday.

I’ve just got my PCR results back from Tuesday which are positive, I didn’t test positive on lateral flow until yesterday. My DS has now tested posted on LFT but my DH still negative so will order another PCR for him.

My DD 8 has it (symptomatic) been nearly a week and DS (11) and myself never caught it. It thought my son would at least. But we both had negative PCR and have had daily negative LFT since (my DD had both LFT and PCR positive)

Ds was positive last thurs (symptoms). dh positive last Saturday (no symptoms). Dd and I remain negative, tested twice. Fingers x we’ve escaped it!

Dd tested positive Thursday night. We both did a pcr. I have done about 7 lfts over the last few days all negative. Two positive notifications this morning.
