Is this a positive?

I took this on my 4 year old and I believed it was a negative, it was evening and kind of dark in my house, I always assumed the line would be super dark and obviously if there was going to be a line, so the next day I sent him into school then came home and seen his test on the bench near the window and went to bin it and noticed another line. Iv since sent off a test and waiting for results

I’d say so.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/10/2021 13:08

What other line? I can only see one.

Anyonebut · 05/10/2021 13:08

Check instructions, the one I saw says not to read results after 20 mins.

Comefromaway · 05/10/2021 13:10

I can only see the control line. But you are supposed to disregard anything that appears after 30 mins.

Noogar · 05/10/2021 13:12

I don't think its a valid result if you've looked at it the next day

AlexaShutUp · 05/10/2021 13:14

It looks positive but it might depend on how long it took that line to appear. None of our negative tests developed lines afterwards though.

DD did several ltfs on Sunday night which looked a bit like that. Developed symptoms yesterday, currently awaiting pcr results. I'm certain that the pcr will come back positive now that she is symptomatic but she wasn't when she took the original tests.

The instructions clearly state to allow 20 minutes for the test to develop and disregard anything after 30 minutes.

I can't see a second line, but unless it was present between the 20 minute and 30 minute window, it's negative.

ScarlettSunset · 05/10/2021 13:45

I can only see the one line.

whatswithtodaytoday · 05/10/2021 13:48

I can see something, so would test again (as you have). The lines are often very faint at first.

Reallybadidea · 05/10/2021 13:52

The dye on the nose-only lfts seems to run a bit after a few hours in my experience. I'd say that looks more like that than a true positive.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 05/10/2021 14:15

How the hell is anyone seeing a positive?

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 05/10/2021 14:20

There's a second line but as PP said, if you saw it next day it's to be disregarded. You've tested again so hopefully you'll know for sure soon.

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 05/10/2021 14:22

@MolyHolyGuacamole

How the hell is anyone seeing a positive?
My positive LFTs were like that and took 25 minutes to show a second line! DH's otoh developed a definite thick line immediately as the sample washed over it.
DaxtheDestroyer · 05/10/2021 14:24

My DD has been getting negative LFTs which develop a positive line several hours later. The instructions are to ignore anything after 30 minutes. In our case the gap has got smaller and smaller and today she got a positive after 15 minutes so I'd say to repeat the test (do you do them regularly?) in a few days and see what you get.

jennyt82 · 05/10/2021 14:28

My husband got a faint positive that appeared on a lateral flow after 30 minutes, he tested positive on a pcr later that day.

Bloodypunkrockers · 05/10/2021 14:30

Even zooming in I can't see any second line

Verite1 · 05/10/2021 14:31

I can’t see a second line at all

fizzyandbusy · 05/10/2021 14:33

I can't see a second line either.

LadyGAgain · 05/10/2021 14:52

Does he have symptoms? If so, skip the LFT and get him to a PCR. So many people (I'm not saying this is you) are misunderstanding the guidance here.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 05/10/2021 15:06

I don't see a second line at all Confused

luckylavender · 05/10/2021 15:26

I can only see one line

Nikki037297 · 05/10/2021 16:40

There is definitely a second line which shows up much better in person than on camera but I can assure everyone there is indeed a faint second line. He does have symptoms, runny nose and dry cough, he doesn’t usually get a cough like this with a normal cold, still waiting pcr results. I have done another lft on him today which is a negative but his symptoms are getting better now so I wonder if perhaps he has had covid and I picked up the end of it with the test?

Do another test

orangina01 · 05/10/2021 17:41

No line. And it is completely invalid to read it the next day.

SwayingInTime · 05/10/2021 17:42

I really can’t see it!
