Unless you have Covid you're surely not required to self isolate now?

Obviously haven't clicked the link.

Absolute scam. Block and delete.

MrsSquirrel · 29/09/2021 15:31

Yep, it's spam.

(Though the rules on self isolation are more complicated than what you say.)

Hidingattheback · 29/09/2021 15:35

The guidance to self isolate is still in place but you're exempt if you're double vaccinated, under 18, part of a vaccine trial or can't get vaccinated for medical reasons. If none of that applies, you'd still need to isolate. No idea about the text. Do you have the NHS check in at venues app?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/09/2021 15:36

Looks identical, including website address, to my genuine ones from this weekend.

Gladioli23 · 29/09/2021 15:36

That's a genuine government website though, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure stuff ending in phe.gov.uk is legit?

E.g contact-tracing.phe.gov.uk/

Takes you to the NHS test and trace website. So I'm not certain it is a scam?

WinnieTheWee · 29/09/2021 15:38

I've asked techy family member to take a closer look.

OP posts:
Hoolihan · 29/09/2021 15:38

No that's not a scam. I had the same over the weekend as just come back from Spain. You need to log in and complete the form to tell them you're exempt or they'll start ringing you!

dementedpixie · 29/09/2021 15:38

I dont think its spam either. T&T won't know you are double vaccinated until you tell them so they will just send the standard message to everyone that is a contact

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/09/2021 15:39

Sorry there is a few differences. Mine has actual dates on it.

Cookerhood · 29/09/2021 15:39

Mine looked just like that. I also had an email. Once you complete the details you will then get one saying you don't need to isolate (assuming you are double vaxxed).

From my limited knowledge that doesn't mean what you click through to is necessarily that url.
OP posts:
dementedpixie · 29/09/2021 15:42

Have you tried going through the legitimate site that you've searched and using the ID number its given you to see if it's valid?

Cookerhood · 29/09/2021 15:43

If you don't respond they will call you. In fact I think DH got umpteen texts & then a call. The usual stuff "Is this the correct phone number for you?" "Well, yes, I answered the phone, didn't I?". Etc etc

LittleMissNaice · 29/09/2021 15:47

This is identical to the one I received.

dementedpixie · 29/09/2021 15:47

contact-tracing.phe.gov.uk/
This is the link from the nhs site but without the invitation bit. Try the ID from the message to see if it's valid

PurpleDaisies · 29/09/2021 15:47

This looks real to me. It matches the description of what happens when you’re identified as a contact.

www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works

If you’re worried about clicking the URL in the text, just ring them or go direct to the website and put in the details.

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 29/09/2021 15:47

@ShagMeRiggins and @MrsSquirrel no, that's from nhs test and trace. Not spam nor a scam.

OP you are a close contact of a positive case. Are you fully vaccinated as of 2 weeks ago? Think it's 2 anyway, if so you don't need to isolate but should book a PCR test.

YlangYlangYlangYlang · 29/09/2021 15:50

Identical to the one I received this morning, which was just after my friend had given details to them. Once I'd been through the logging system it sent another to say that I do not have to self-isolate but should book a PCR test.

Moonopoly · 29/09/2021 15:53

This looks the same as I got when my daughter tested positive.

Moonopoly · 29/09/2021 15:54

Although mine said you do not need to isolate. I’m registered on the NHS app though so presume that ID tag shows I’ve been vaccinated.

MrsSquirrel · 29/09/2021 15:55

If you are worried about clicking on the URL in the text, just ring them or go direct to the website and put in the details

This is probably the best thing to do.

Moonopoly · 29/09/2021 15:57

My husband had to add his details when he had contact at work. It then told him no need to isolate.
Those saying scam need to be really sure before saying so as could get someone in trouble.
OP please do check it’s authentic but it’s very similar to ones I have received.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 29/09/2021 16:00

The app advised the whole household to isolate when I ordered a PCR for DS3. But is that a legal requirement?
