What about individuals with 1 dose

Are we classed as unvaccinated? Saw a post from an ICU nurse about unvaccinated- I’m 41 with 1 dose of Pfizer- second one in a few weeks. Am I classed as unvaccinated?

Are my chances if surviving Covid when I catch it, looks inevitable with no safety measures and child in school pretty low?

It's ridiculous being how much they have pushed the jabs and we can't get our 2nd. I was given no choice as I'm nearer 40 than 30 for AZ!

Confused10101 · 10/09/2021 19:59

@HermioneWeasley I have no idea why I typed my age as 41 - I turned 40 in April

I age myself all the time. I told a dr at my hospital appointment I was 44 today. He looked at me, looked at my notes, looked at me and said, “no you aren’t”. Felt like a prize twat.

GreyhoundG1rl · 10/09/2021 20:03

How could you be classed as unvaccinated?
Are you the poster who starts multiple threads lamenting the fact that you've had the first shot and wanting people to tell you it's fine not to have the second, or have I confused you with someone else?

MareofBeasttown · 10/09/2021 20:14

OP is the poster who has serious health anxiety and has started a number of threads. In my opinion, she is not helped by any of the responses and in fact, she is likely made worse.

Confused10101 · 10/09/2021 21:05

@GreyhoundG1rl you definitely have confused me with someone/ yes I’m nervous about the second shot but at no point have I started threads asking people to convice me not to have the second dose

OP posts:
Confused10101 · 10/09/2021 21:08

@GreyhoundG1rl @MareofBeasttown the reason I started this thread was there is another one stated by an ICU nurse who calls the unvaccinated individuals idiots- I’m not commenting about another thread but she and the replies only seem to recognise‘double vaccinated’ individuals- hence the question

Also that made me think I never come across any data re: single dose -

@Chillychangchoo

Why have you left it so late to be double vaxxed at aged 41?
Why question why they have left it? It will have took OP a lot to get the first jab when they did.. they should be congratulated on overcoming their anxiety... not questioned on it.
Confused10101 · 10/09/2021 21:16

@XenoBitch thank you - it’s comforting to know there is some people with empathy when it comes to the vaccine conversation

OP posts:
Hellotoallmyfans · 10/09/2021 21:27

If you don't want it, don't have it. You're relatively young, the death rate is tiny and the vast majority who do die are of a very old age. It's your choice to decide: don't have the jab and accept tiny risk of catching covid and being very ill/dying or tiny risk of having jab and being very ill/dying from side affects.

I've only had mine bc I'm travelling to a place where I need to be double vaccinated. I have never felt back to normal after having my first (very low mood, exhaustion and frequent headaches) and have never felt so ill in my life as I did after the 2nd. I feel very angry that we are basically being blackmailed and coerced into having vaccines. It feels very wrong to me.

If I didn't need to travel I wouldn't have bothered having it. Apparently in Israel they are now saying there will be constant boosters as efficacy is waning. I don't think I'm prepared to have it again after the side effects I had.

Ultimately it's your choice - you don't need to come on here to gain validation. Will you be more anxious if you don't have it or if you do?
@XenoBitch thank you - it’s comforting to know there is some people with empathy when it comes to the vaccine conversation
It is ok. If you have left it this late to get the jab for your age group, there will be a big reason... and people who criticise you for that can do one.
I am in my 40s and can't even look at the booking screen without feeling sick to my stomach. If I posted on MN after a handhold to get me through it, I bet I would get knobs criticising me for leaving it so long. We can't win!

Confused10101 · 11/09/2021 09:52

@XenoBitch if it helps I didn’t book- I went to a walk in centre without planning

I’m now a little bit over a month post the first dose

OP posts:
Confused10101 · 11/09/2021 09:54

@Hellotoallmyfans i think the thread has got a little lost in translation

Yes I’m nervous regarding my second dose but the reason for the thread is to question

Why people who have had 1 dose looked at as not being vaccinated

Why is it so difficult to find the efficacy of 1st dose

OP posts:
Confused10101 · 11/09/2021 09:55

A previous poster posted this study link up in the thread

I’ve never seen anything like this from the UK

What about individuals with 1 dose

Imfedupwithallofthis · 11/09/2021 10:09

Not strictly related to your original query, but that image you have posted - the info is there in black and white for anyone hesitant. Figures for UK will be broadly similar.

As for your original query, you are not considered fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after your second dose. So, you are starting to build up good protection, but as can be seen, this improves considerably after the 2nd vaccine.

Congratulations on overcoming your severe anxiety and getting that first jab! (but don't go thinking that the job is done)

Confused10101 · 11/09/2021 15:45

@Imfedupwithallofthis I like your username- I feel the same. Fed up.., I’m taking all precautions- trying not to think about second dose as will spike anxiety -

@BillyJoe111 - How difficult for you. I had ongoing headaches/nausea/fatigue for a long time after mine, but things improved eventually though perhaps still not 100%. I have no plans to have a second vaccine. Hope the situation improves for you too.

How long did it take for you to see an improvement? I’ve met a few people while waiting for appointments in the same boat, one woman has had the headache since her first dose in February. I live in hope everyday of this headache going. I’m just having to learn to live with it, but it’s really affecting my mental health as it’s always there. I can’t even remember the last time I had a headache before this so it’s a bit of a shock to have a constant one.

BillyJoe111 · 11/09/2021 21:35

@landofgiants sorry you don’t have to answer didn’t mean to leap on you. I’m just so desperate to feel normal again, I jump on anyone who has had the same experience just incase they can give me a bit of hope.

landofgiants · 11/09/2021 22:14

@BillyJoe111 - I think it was around the 10 week mark, but the headache varied a lot rather than being continuous. It is very debilitating and of course it affects your mental wellbeing. Once I started feeling better, I decided to exercise, overdid it, and injured my back! Very painful but so much better than the headache. Flowers

Oh man - what bad luck! Thank you so much for replying. It helps so much to know that other people have come out the others side.
