Sense Of Impending Doom ?

I've heard of " A sense of impending doom " being mentioned as a symptom of Covid .
Somebody mentioned it on a thread today . I can't find the thread but wondered if anyone can describe the feeling ?

We got taught it was a heart attack on our first aid course.

I have it regularly though from anxiety.

I felt quite anxious when I had covid and had a panic attack at one point (I get them regularly anyway). I think it was more to do with all the attention on covid and not knowing what to expect. In reality I didn't feel unwell at all.

I've had the sense of impending doom after being given a drug in hospital where this is an actual side effect.
The feeling is beyond words and I have diagnosed PTSD as a result of this.
It certainly can't be a common side effects with all the Covid around as definitely more would have been said about it.
Can't explain the feeling but I still have flashbacks. Was pretty sure death was imminent.

Also a sign of anaphylaxis, I understand it's linked to many conditions. Just shows there's so much more to us than we know about.

Seizure
Anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction)
Jellyfish sting (only certain types)
Pulmonary emboli (clots that break off in the legs and flow to the lungs)
Blood transfusion (reactions may cause a combination of anaphylaxis with hemolysis—the breakdown of red blood cells transfused)
Anesthesia awareness (“waking up” during surgery)

My 21 year old had exactly this. DD woke feeling anxious, not usual for her and with no cause. As the day went on, she described feeling increasingly low spirits. She spoke to a couple of friends to cancel plans for the next day or two because she felt overwhelmed with any commitments. After her days lectures finished, she called me on her way back to her student house in tears, saying she felt really depressed but didn't know why and, as it was Friday, I said I would drive over and pick her up.
She spent the whole of Saturday in bed and, by the evening said she had a headache and sore throat. She did a lft and it was positive.
DD was never that ill, and the sense of doom was probably the worse symptom.

It wasn't pre eclampsia was it? I had this when they gave me magnesium sulfate.

I get this as part of my anxiety/seizure condition (drs can't decide if it is one or the other).

However this week I've been poorly with a virus which according to lfts isn't covid and it's been pretty bad all week.

My daughter has to be given a drug in hospital sometimes to slow her heart rate down. A 'sense of impending doom' is a listed side effect. A trainee dr asked her afterwards what that actually felt like as he had been told it was a side effect but couldn't imagine what it felt like. She said it was impossible to really describe but it feels like you know that something really really bad is about to happen to you. So not massively helpful really!

I definitely felt like this when I was developing sepsis. I really thought I was dying and knew I needed to get to hospital. I'm hospital-phobic so dh really knew I was ill. I can't describe it properly but it was very intense.

I did nearly die, but not quite!

It's a symptom of sepsis. I had it after having DD. Ended up having a panic attack in the toilet and pulled the red cord. I fainted after thinking I would widow DP and leave him to raise a newborn. Essentially, you are totally, utterly convinced you're about to cop it.

I get a sense of impending doom before a seizure. It's like the grim reaper is stood behind me but I can't see him and every one would think I'm crazy for mentioning it.

Lo and behold I usually have a fit not long after.

I had this when I had a bad allergic reaction to something I'd eaten - GP said it was related to anaphylactic shock an gave me an epipen in case it ever happened again.

Same when I had sepsis. Before I knew I had it I said clearly to my DH ‘I feel like I’m going to die’. I said it to the nurse when I was triaged at the walk in centre too. 3 mins later I was being blue lighted to hospital.
