Feeling like I've been hit by a car

I feel blimming awful.
My whole body aches, every limb hurts.
I have a cough, fatigue, heavy chest and just staying in bed. I still have smell and taste. I'm awaiting COVID test results.

Did anyone else who has had COVID have severe aching limbs etc? Even my feet feel like they have been crushed my elephants. How long did this last for you?
Thanks x

Yes, I'm afraid so. The cough didn't last long, though.

Smell went after about a week.

Limbs now tingle rather than ache - 25 days on.... but this is exacerbated by lack of appetite so not enough food to sustain me really.

Hopefully you'll get through quite quickly but is does sound like you'll get a positive back. Don't feel like getting out of bed = don't !

Thank you x

Yes. DH has Terrible aches first 24/48 hours. (Also DD but only for 24 hours). After that felt like a really bad cold / flu. He is on day 8. Still feels bad (but has has to take over the house I am on day 2 and feel terrible! But I don’t have the actual aches. Just like a bad cold / flu).

DH lost smell and taste around day 6.

Mummytotwonow · 31/08/2021 18:59

Thanks Dee. Hope you are all feeling better soon Thanks

The aches are horrific. Mine lasted 3 days but tapered off rather than just stopped after that. Not nice at all. Hope you feel better soon x

I've got this at the moment OP. My bones feel like they are on fire, but PCR.was negative.
Have you had your results back yet?

Mummytotwonow · 31/08/2021 20:54

Hi Polly, sorry to hear you are unwell too!! It's been 36h I've now been waiting for the results. I am now getting hot flushes and feel a temperature coming on.
I had very similar symptoms back in March and the test came back negative too. I was convinced it was COVID at the time so now wondering if this test might come back negative too. Can the tests be wrong I wonder and show as a negative when you could actually have it. I don't know too much about it. How long did it take for your test results to come back? X

OP posts:
QueenStromba · 01/09/2021 12:55

PCR tests have about a 30% false negative rate.

Mummytotwonow · 01/09/2021 13:23

I've just had my results come back that they couldn't read my results clearly and need to do another one Envy
My sense of smell has gone now.

Thanks for info regards false negative results .

Just to let you know OP my LFT is now positive. pcr been booked for at home because I just can't go anywhere right now I feel so awful.

Yours definitely sounds very similar to mine.

SparklingLime · 01/09/2021 20:12

Have you been vaccinated, @Mummytotwonow?

Mummytotwonow · 01/09/2021 20:33

@SparklingLime yes had both jabs. Very early on as I have asthma. Managed to get a drive through test and hubby took me so waiting the 2nd test result now.

OP posts:
Mummytotwonow · 01/09/2021 20:36

@PollyPepper that's interesting. I had to force myself to get in the car with my hubby so I can get another test result so I can show work as I'm off work sick. It's made me feel worse but at least I will hopefully have some clearer results back. Not sure why they couldn't be read on the last test, I made steward check I was doing it properly this time just in case. Hope you're feeling better soon x

SparklingLime · 01/09/2021 20:38

Goodness, that’s bad luck to feel so ill then. Hope you’re through the worst soon.

Mummytotwonow · 02/09/2021 13:53

@PollyPepper I'm still waiting for the new test results to come through after the last inconclusive results. However, new batch of ltfs arrived and it came up straight away. Will be interesting to see the main tesr results when they come through hopefully today. My cough is really bad today. How are you feeling?

@SparklingLime thank you x

PollyPepper · 02/09/2021 15:19

@Mummytotwonow yep, a definite positive there. Not a massive shock and as someone said to me on my thread at least you don't have to continue sticking sticks up your nose!

I'm feeling better today, even managed to get down on the sofa as DH is now positive so we're isolating together.

Feeling sneezy and achey still. Just hope this is the beginning of the end. (Not of my life you understand, I mean of being symptomatic)

Have you managed to book a PCR yet?

Mummytotwonow · 02/09/2021 16:24

@PollyPepper my PCR results have literally come through - positive. I'm feeling a lot worse as my throat glands feel so swollen through coughing it's making it difficult to swallow and when breathing. I have asthma and really worried now. I've asked the doctor to call me to check about the throat swelling and see if there is anything more I can take or do to help fight it.
Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better x

OP posts:
PollyPepper · 02/09/2021 16:37

That sounds scary OP.
Hopefully the doctor will call soon. I'd give it another hour and if no response I'd call 111 to see what they say.
Is your breathing very laboured or your lips normal colour?

SparklingLime · 02/09/2021 17:43

Have you got an oximeter, OP? Just to reassure yourself.

Mummytotwonow · 02/09/2021 17:59

@PollyPepper I got a message back from the doctors asking me to call at 8am tomorrow now or to call 111. Spoke to 111 and they wanted to send an ambulance. No change of colour of lips abs breathing still the same. I said no but they insisted. Will update once they have been.

@SparklingLime yes typically I had lent it to someone and forgotten to get it back. I have just ordered another one on prime to arrive tomorrow. Thank you

OP posts:
FrozenCremeEgg · 02/09/2021 18:07

For all of those ill

Please get a oxy meter

They are available in Amazon and lots of other places
If you an amazon prime customer it can be delivered the next day

One of the reasons why people are very ill / passing away is because they dont go to the hospital quick enough
Your oxygen can feel fine but actually it is very low and you can carry on like that for afew days without knowing. Silent Hypoxia!

Please get a Finger saturation monitor

Mummytotwonow · 02/09/2021 18:26

@FrozenCremeEgg I've been so rough I didn't even think of it until Sparkinglime mentioned it above. I've got another one arriving tomorrow and good advice for anyone reading in the same position.

OP posts:
Mummytotwonow · 02/09/2021 20:17

The ambulance service must be really busy as they called to check on me as one still hadn't come out yet. I asked them to cancel the ambulance as I couldn't have the guilt I'd be holding more serious cases up. I haven't deteriorated any further and my husband is here and can always call back in an emergency. They agreed so I will call the doctor instead back at 8am tomorrow and see how I get on over night. I can also monitor my oxygen levels once the kit turns up tomorrow from Amazon.
