I feel blimming awful.
My whole body aches, every limb hurts.
I have a cough, fatigue, heavy chest and just staying in bed. I still have smell and taste. I'm awaiting COVID test results.

Did anyone else who has had COVID have severe aching limbs etc? Even my feet feel like they have been crushed my elephants. How long did this last for you?
Thanks x

Hope you can get some sleep, OP.

@QueenStromba that simply isn't true, that statistic is false negatives of LFT, not PCR. Most testing machines have a very high accuracy rate , they do vary but not by that much

The LFT false negative rate is much higher.

Here's a good article from GAVI about false negatives on PCR tests.

This is dependent on what machines they use to do the PCR test, indeed we rejected one brand sent by NHSE as it wouldn't pass lab validation. All tests are only valid at that point in time, but efficacy of PCR tests is not 30%, that article has a couple of studies referenced but doesn't look at the machines used nor the lab validation process. They can be a little more unreliable once the patient is on ICU and that needs a lung flush to get the result. We used to have a lot more 'suspected, negatives' on the wards but as the efficacy of the tests has improved, this has dropped sharply.

Stating it as 30% helps fuel the fire of it being a scam or that flu tests positive.

On the plus side, at least we have an effective PCR system, whereas the US uses antigen as definitive tests

How are you doing today, @Mummytotwonow?

Mummytotwonow · 03/09/2021 11:56

@SparklingLime thanks for asking. I had a surprisingly good night sleep (think my body was so exhausted it just shut itself down) I don't remember waking up at all in the night or coughing. So strange as I haven't mange to sleep at all properly for days. I feel better for it though. The doctor is calling me between 2-4pm so I can discuss about my throat swelling (feels a bit better today). Still waiting for my new oxygen monitor to arrive so will monitor levels when that comes through today. Haven't been coughing as much but still feel exhausted, body aches and pains and headaches. I am also feeling frustrated and down as can't get on with anything.
How are you feeling? Are you still continuously feel better? X

A PCR test is only as good as the sampling technique. Pretending that PCR tests are perfectly sensitive has lead to the ridiculous situation where people can live with someone who has confirmed covid, have symptoms themselves and be free to go about their business because their amateur swabbing didn't pick up any virus. This board is full of threads where posters are symptomatic and didn't get a positive PCR until the nth test.
