We should all as parents be responsible to save school from covid oursbreaks and protect school from closing

The man's a clueless idiot.

We don't even have any mitigating measures Scotland have.

Surly not isolating close contacts under 18 or very least same household will lead to massive spread in schools.

Why are the governors so anti mask.
Why are we one if the few countries not vaccinating teens or investing in better ventilation.

noblegiraffe · 30/08/2021 23:06

Because the government don’t give a shit about kids or education, going back long before covid.

Lemons1571 · 30/08/2021 23:09

Testing with those highly accurate LFT’s? The ones that countries like the US have banned for being so useless? Great, thanks for that fab idea.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 30/08/2021 23:18

I think saying parents need to be responsible as well isn’t a bad thing. Everyone needs to play their part so testing, not sending in ill children etc.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 30/08/2021 23:20

It goes without saying the government should be doing all they can to stop the spread in schools and with few measures I wonder how long they will remain open for this winter.

BluebellsGreenbells · 30/08/2021 23:26

The government don’t want to stop the speed. They want children to gain natural immunity.

What they should be saying is keep them away from the elderly etc

Why lie about it?

Big hit with kids being sick for the next 2/3 months leaves winter clear for education when ventilation becomes more difficult

Plus, the real knock in effect is those working is service and retail jobs where they need to stay home and look after sick children whilst not being paid, the govern has withdrawn its support and it’s now down to you to take the hit.

Stop blaming ‘school’ the teachers have no choice in this matter - start showing your support as they negotiate the very difficult months ahead.

3asAbird · 30/08/2021 23:29

Anecdotally local to me everyone o know who tested postive in last 3months its spread to nearly all other members of that household.
So sending kids in when postive case is potentially spreading the virus.
All testing does is identify they have civid it doesn't always prevent the spread.

won't work for vulnerable families

Big hit with kids being sick for the next 2/3 months leaves winter clear

won't work, it would just make winter worse

BluebellsGreenbells · 30/08/2021 23:31

I’m not saying it’ll work, I’m saying it’s the grand plan!

3asAbird · 30/08/2021 23:31

Makes you miss Hancock and his don't kill granny.
How many parents will risk sending their covid postive child with grandparents whilst they work?

Yep, totally that. I did a thread about this the other day. The gaslighting and lying are so annoying.
QueenofLouisiana · 30/08/2021 23:45

It’s so that people don’t ask where the air purifiers and ventilation systems are on Wednesday. “It’s not our issue, it’s yours”.

MercyBooth · 30/08/2021 23:47

When are people going to fucking realise that they will always blame the public no matter what we do and no matter what we sacrifice FFS

PopcornMuncher · 30/08/2021 23:49

Another "it's all your fault if it goes wrong" situation. They really are shameless Angry

Boredhimtodeath · 31/08/2021 00:19

I was poorly a few weeks ago, couldn’t get out of bed so was unable to go for a test. I and my household did the tests we had at home every day that all said negative. When I was finally well enough to go for a pcr test 4 days in it came back positive, alongside my DSD.

If they had just done the at home tests at their Mums we would have completely missed it and they could have spread it around school. Technically they didn’t need to isolate, luckily I booked them on for a test because they would have had to come with me anyway.

The next day we did the tests at home again out of curiosity and they were again negative!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 31/08/2021 00:26

Fucking Cheers Gav.
Yours, an immunosuppressed parent of a just vaccinated 14 year old (why didn't you get on with it during the holidays) and an unvaccinated primary school child.

Getawaywithit · 31/08/2021 01:57

Anyone would think the Government wants school closed….

NiceGerbil · 31/08/2021 02:30

It would be fair enough if the tests weren't useless.

I was surprised to find that two close friends who are responsible types don't bother. Stopped after the first couple of weeks back whenever it was!

We've been doing it so I was a bit surprised!

I mean that was what months ago.

The tests don't work so it's just. Makes the govt look like they're doing something. Hopeless.

BadHipRising · 31/08/2021 03:22

Bunch of wankers. I mean managing this is their job. If it's fucked (and it is) that's their responsibility. Twats.

He’s more interested in pupils learning table manners. Not sure he’s ever been in a secondary school at lunchtime where they ha e half an hour to eat, stretch their legs before it’s afternoon lessons.

The grandparents and other adults will now be vaccinated, with boosters coming. There are no immediate plans to vaccinate young children. We’ll continue to import more virus. The virus will be endemic, the majority of us will catch it, some more than once. Our immune systems over time will then learn to manage it. Vaccines will mitigate against hospitalisation for most. The government aren’t being transparent but this is the plan, albeit unsaid.

Ha! Guess what will be reported next: Schools prefer not to have whole school assemblies as they can keep a closer eye on children during zoom assemblies. Heads prefer staggered starts to avoid car park congestion. Children denand to wear masks in commununal areas so they don't have to smell each others BO. No U turns for this government.

I am actually starting to wonder. This approach seems like the perfect way to end up causing closures although I've heard from my kid's sixth form and high school and they are keeping many of the measures that were in place last term.

Lfts shouldn't be used if symptomatic, they are not accurate. Could you not get a postal test sent out?

I get your point though.

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 31/08/2021 09:29

Government blaming the plebs for spread of virus shocker!

They've always done this. It detracts from their abysmal handling of it all and keeps us occupied by setting us against each other, rather than getting angry at those in charge. If we're having a go at those who can't wear masks and blaming people for going out more than once a day/buying chocolate/sitting on park benches during lockdown we're not giving them merry hell are we?
