We should all as parents be responsible to save school from covid oursbreaks and protect school from closing

The man's a clueless idiot.

We don't even have any mitigating measures Scotland have.

Surly not isolating close contacts under 18 or very least same household will lead to massive spread in schools.

Why are the governors so anti mask.
Why are we one if the few countries not vaccinating teens or investing in better ventilation.

Aside from improved ventilation, I would be suggesting…

masks to be encouraged in schools.
Vaccines be offered to 12-15s.
LFD testing be encouraged twice weekly throughout the winter, not ‘to be reviewed’ at the end of September.
Households with positive covid cases in them to be isolating.
Classrooms to have windows open wherever possible and students to be able to dress appropriately (fleeces/trainers) for warmth and comfort.

eddiemairswife · 31/08/2021 13:40

Open the windows for ventilation, and if it's too cold get the children to keep warm by dancing; videos of Michael Gove might help!

FrippEnos · 31/08/2021 13:48

amicissimma

When did teachers stop being allowed to open windows?

Since they were painted nailed or screwed shut.
Also the modern school windows only open about three inches due to some weird safety regulation.

“The last thing we want is for schools to partially close again, or for whole classes of pupils to be at home self-isolating. That should only ever be the last resort.” says Gavin Williamson

As he is about to send millions of unvaccinated children into cramped and crowded indoor spaces? Does he really believe the LFTs with only 50% accuracy rate is the answer to prevent what he claims to not want? Does he fuck! It would be laughable if it wasn't so serious.

You win mumsnet post of the day.
I am the op.
My 2nd child starts senior's next week already some year 7 parents say they not bothering testing its not mandatory and its Friday for test 1.
Different times opposite ends day as my 2 senior children are different year groups.
But im pro testing and my senior age daughter did twice weekly lateral flow tests all throughout year 10.

Some parents are mental if we don't test then we can't have hugh covid infections is trumps playbook .
I still remember his crazy new conferences if we don't test then we can't have high rates.
But testing alone is not the sole solution or mitigation.
It identifies when someone's postive.
Not isolating non vaccinated under 18s close contacts , but bubbles and no isolating close contacts in same household will increase covid in school will make July seem easy.
June / July was hello for Bristol statue schools 3rd wave hit us hard.
Anecdotally freinds who went to 2 local independent school had hardly any cases with stricter rules and smaller classes and generally more space as well as much better online learning
Took them hardly any time get online in March 2020 doing live lessons and assembles on teams.
Took our state secondary until Sept to sort decent online learning out.
Another article mirror derived from same interview said parents should be careful where they let their children go this summer assume he meant events and social .
So many 6th formers went to festivals.
You can't open up things that appeal to kids and expect them not to go there.

Then we have the us for them nutters hoping mujsnet to argue over anything that makes school safer saying we have to live with covid.

Also Gavin useless out of touch muppet is education secretary only if England not entire United kingdom..
Scotland has kept masks.
Wales are trying hopefully school receive them before xmas.

Sorry ni not sure what you are doing yet.
Although must be annoying teens in Republic of Ireland are being vaccinated.
I suppose some might day well is just a devolution anomaly like in Wales and Scotland prescriptions are free and here they nearly 10 quid.
But England has much bigger population and greater population density than the devolved nations.

The vaccine supply and and decision to vaccinate teens can only be taken nationally.
But not all the vulnerable 12 to 15 done yet its been so hard parents access and not all 16 to 17 will only have had 1 dose and God knows when they get vaccinated as won't be eligible I guess European vaccine passport to travel as only had half a dose which we told as adults get 2 doses as 1 dose not effective enough but money you under 18 and in a school you are immune.

We will be treated fines if we keep cev kids off.
If we decide isolate all household contacts because of postive case.
No actual online learning to be provided if you chose to stay off for safety of helath unless track and trace tell us we can stay home..

No pay for parents missing work to look after their covid postives child.
Shortages of teachers and staff in every sector as greater levels of infection means more people off sick.
School kids on public buses potential spreading to office commuters.

Lateral flow so inaccurate not many other countries even use it.
C02 monitors by xmas tell us ventilation is crap but nothing we can do about it.
Covid is inevitable kids don't get ill yet all the children's hospital and accident abd Emergency department are struggling because 1000plus kids were admitted to UK hospitals in July and August.

Parents travelling other countries get their teens vaccinated..
Even if late sept they say let's vaccinate teens its too late.
Its always too late.
They have get jabbed then 21 days they 2nd jab.
No definitive date in boosters bet teachers won't get priority..
Teachers don't seem have any leverage the unions seem as good as useless.

So how this stupid little man who probably pre occupied by trying do contact with mates to provide c02 monitors for high price no tender to have gall to say its parents fault.
The parents who homeschooling twice.
Had lots unpaid time off work
Who caught covid from their school child
Who are unable to make choice vaccinate thier teens despite being double jabbed themselves.
Who supported testing and isolating.
Now any spike in covid is our fault for being selfish irresponsible parents hes having a laugh.
How can someone so shit still have a job.

Even the ring wing media like the sun and spectator seem worried today.
