I'm just wondering I've managed to get alway through this with never being tested despite working allway through this subcontracting at a hospital.

No LFTor PCR I've not needed to , but there is people who are doing them all the time.

Is it just me as many on here will have a test every bloody day.

OP posts:
GintyMcGinty · 29/08/2021 19:48

My husband and my daughter never have.

Me and son have tested but been negative.

110APiccadilly · 29/08/2021 20:00

DH hadn't until last week when we visited a relative in a care home so needed to do LFTs. (Weirdly, while the hospital tested me when I went in to give birth last winter, they never tested him when he came in as my birth partner!)

blameitonthecaffeine · 29/08/2021 20:16

Never had a PCR but I have to do twice weekly LFTs for work.

EmeraldGreenVelvet · 29/08/2021 20:24

If you've worked throughout in a hospital, I'm amazed that's you've not had to do LFTs regularly! I do them (work in a school office) twice a week, as do most of my colleagues, and DD, who works a couple of days a week in food retail, has been asked to do one before every shift.

McCheney73 · 29/08/2021 21:41

My mum hasn't.
We see her most days and my 2 children nursery age are always bringing colds and coughs home and pass it on to me and my partner but never her!

Geamhradh · 29/08/2021 21:57

I've never been tested.
I'm in Italy and a teacher. Fully vaxxed.

DD aged 17 had her one and only LFT two weeks ago on holiday as it's a requirement for those not fully vaxxed in order to get s Green Pass.

AnnaSW1 · 29/08/2021 22:07

Me

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 29/08/2021 22:15

Dh hasn’t

Figgygal · 29/08/2021 22:19

I did my first lft yesterday as was feeling shitty but seems It’s just general shitty not covid shitty
Dh had a pcr test last year
Neither kids been tested

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 29/08/2021 22:37

Never had a PCR. I had to do a lateral flow for the first time last week for a work thing, but that's it. For background, I'm unvaccinated and never had covid. Have children in nursery and school as well. They've never been tested either

bigbluebus · 29/08/2021 22:39

I don't work but had to do LFTs when volunteering at our local vaccine clinic. Also had to do one to get into a festival recently. I have done them voluntarily when going on holiday with friends (in UK but sharing accommodation), and also when meeting up with friend whose husband is having cancer treatment. I'm don't know anyone who does them twice a week or whatever Boris suggests unless they have to do them for another reason.

Janedownourlane · 29/08/2021 22:42

Never had to test, never had symtoms. Fully vaxxed and think we've been extremely lucky. Not been required to isolate either. We do get out and about, although retired and prefer being outdoors which has helped.

switswoo81 · 29/08/2021 22:47

No one in my household has had to test. 1 primary school age , one in crèche, I'm a primary teacher and husband works in construction. Not even a sniffle in the last 18 months , (must be all the handwashing!)
I'm not in. the UK and my school has only had one case.

Mrsfrumble · 29/08/2021 23:17

10 yo DS has never had a test. He’s never really needed one, thank goodness, as he’s terrified of invasive medical procedures and flatly refuses to even entertain the idea. DH does LFTs twice a week for work. I volunteer in a school and was doing them weekly during term time, but stopped over the summer. I did do one before going to visit my CEV mum last week though.

yikesanotherbooboo · 29/08/2021 23:21

I've had loads of lfts for work but have never needed PCR. I live with DH who has had 1 PCR after code social contact with a positive and student DS who had a PCR a few months ago when he had a temperature.
My DSis and DBil and DM have never been tested.
In the wider family nor have DN and his DP or my DSOr DD and their DPs. No young children in the family so although DH , I and dDil work in health care and DS2 as a student and DS1 works with the public , lots of us are managing to escape the rigmarole. Colleagues with school aged children would say something very different

XenoBitch · 29/08/2021 23:39

No tests here either. Don't see the point in doing LFTs. (for me anyway).

hippychick10 · 29/08/2021 23:56

@Waxonwaxoff0

I have to do LFTs for work. I'm surprised you don't if you are working in a hospital?

I also do PCR tests for a Covid study.

I've only ever gone for a PCR off my own back 2 weeks ago. I tested positive.

I'm surprised too! At my local hospital ALL staff have to do twice weekly LFTs and report them on our local health authority website.

At the moment some has got Covid so we are now doing them everyday for 10 days

I cannot understand how the OP works in a hospital and does not do LFTs!

hippychick10 · 29/08/2021 23:58
@Waxonwaxoff0

A large majority of workers in hospitals don't work for the NHS.
Even shop workers who work in the hospital cafes and retail outlets in our hospital have to do LFTs....and they're not employed by the NHS

Maybeyesno · 30/08/2021 00:04

Me and one dc haven't needed them because of symptoms but have been having them as part of the ons study.

LegArmpits · 30/08/2021 00:05

None of us have ever tested - one wfh, one school LSA, two school kids.

Tippexy · 30/08/2021 00:08

@Againstmachine

*The fact that you've never had symptoms that require you to isolate is a good a thing no? Of course some people will be more risk adverse"

I work at a hospital,I travel by public transport go to pubs restaurants regularly I'm very non risk adverse.

If you work at a hospital you should have been doing twice weekly LFTs and reporting them. Hmm
worriedatthemoment · 30/08/2021 00:08

Twice weekly test witg lvt as work requirement , ds did tesr twice weekly when at school / college as required
Also all of us have had pcr as we have had covid symptoms ( not been covid obviously another virus ) but had to test
Also all of us will lvt when my friend visits as she is having chemo and covid would be very risky so its a small thing we can do

FakingMemories · 30/08/2021 02:24

Never been tested and never will be. Even with symptoms I refuse up become a government statistic.

RavingAnnie · 30/08/2021 02:43

This is a weird thread. It's not a competition. Some people will have done a number of PCRs due to contact or symptoms. Some will have done a lot of LFTs due to work or school requirements. Others won't have done if they haven't had contact or symptoms and aren't required to by work/school.

I've done 4 or 5 PCRs due to symptoms but I get ill a lot. Last test it was positive for covid and I've been ill with that for a couple of weeks.

People aren't doing them for fun!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/08/2021 06:48

@FakingMemories

Never been tested and never will be. Even with symptoms I refuse up become a government statistic.
I presume you'd isolate though if you had symptoms rather than go round spreading Covid?

"Government statistic" indeed. Hmm
