In the Glasgow area, dont know about anywhere else, but all wards closed to visitors except for end of life patients.

Should have said, due to rising cases and the number of wards having covid.

It’s been suspended here (England, Midlands) for two weeks! Not sure they’re even letting visitors in for end of life patients, the announcement said the only exception is birthing partners.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 27/08/2021 17:08

You should put Glasgow in the title if it’s just Glasgow. I can’t find an article about it so a link to hack this up would probably be helpful.

Iluvfriends · 27/08/2021 17:14

I will try put Glasgow in the title thanks.
I dont have a link sorry, i work for NHS that's why i have the info.

I googled when I read this and can see an article about them closing visiting in the Borders. Tbh I didn't even realised visiting had been allowed again.

Againstmachine · 27/08/2021 18:18

Complete scaremongering title every trust makes own rules.

CorrBlimeyGG · 27/08/2021 18:23

Some wards in the Nottinghamshire hospitals have also banned visitors, yet other wards they're still allowed.

This needs to be better publicised.

It wasn't intended to scare anyone, i just didn't think to put Glasgow in the title, (which i have tried to change but can't work it out)....it was with good intentions i posted it but you batter in Miss Know it All xx

Which health board? All of GGC?

AlmostSummer21 · 27/08/2021 19:02

It's not the first & it certainly won't be the last.

It's a good move.

A better move would be for close contacts to still be isolating and SD/masks to still be compulsory.

ISpyCobraKai · 27/08/2021 19:04

It worries me, I totally avoid going to hospital even when I know I should, but the thought of being in with no visitors is awful.
I have brittle asthma and have been in and out for years, spent time in loads of them, but my care is based at QEUH.

ditalini · 27/08/2021 19:05

I thought it was just the GRI - are you sure it's all Glasgow hospitals?

ditalini · 27/08/2021 19:09

It is only GRI, and specifically only the Nightingale wards (wards that have multiple beds). All other wards in GRI unaffected. No other Glasgow hospital affected.

Yes sorry it does seem to be just the GRI because of the nightingale wards. Was just going on the info i got at the time which was apparently across the board. My apologies for the misinformation.

When my mum was terminally ill over 10 years ago, it happened quite a lot at the hospital she was treated at. People really need to understand that this isn’t just a Covid thing.

MichelleScarn · 27/08/2021 21:16

Exactly @BunsyGirl, have not long left work also Scottish nhs acute care and was thinking I know l switch off at times but did I miss THAT!!

Dunnos · 27/08/2021 21:49

Devon is set to put restrictions in place as well. They have seen a massive rise in cases

amicissimma · 28/08/2021 10:05

So "hospital visiting suspended in Glasgow area"

actually means visiting is suspended in most circumstances in a particular type of ward in one hospital.

Hardly misleading at all.

conkersarebonkers · 28/08/2021 17:04

Essential visiting only in Borders hospitals too

I went with the info i had at the time. I did not set out to mislead anyone. Had you read on i apologised for that but you still felt the need to comment about it.

Jeez it must be tiresome being so perfect.

SonnetForSpring · 28/08/2021 19:10

Where I am, there has been no visiting for ages.

CoffeeWithCheese · 28/08/2021 19:44

DD2 was in hospital in the north east of England last weekend (her usual summer post-viral wheeze visit post-snotty cold) and their limits were one parent at a time at bedside but you could tag-team care if required.

DD fine - was an overnight stay only job.

ATieLikeRichardGere · 28/08/2021 19:52

I would point out that it’s not that unusual for wards to close due to infection. This happened plenty pre covid!
