Last one was five weeks ago. I dont mind it being late. Its feeling very low and crying all the time i cant stand.

Could be perimenopause and nothing to do with the vaccine

MercyBooth · 24/08/2021 00:52

Have you had any other symptoms of peri menopause of which there are many!

MercyBooth · 24/08/2021 01:16

Aches and pains, brain fog, mood swings so not just feeling low, but sometimes raging, headaches, problems sleeping?

MercyBooth · 24/08/2021 01:28

Just the feeling low and being on a short fuse really.

If it continues, you can get a blood test to check hormone levels for perimenopause.
I hope you feel better soon op.

izzy2076 · 24/08/2021 02:30

48 and feeling very similar!! With a nice big dose of insomnia.

Jab messed around with my cycle too but I'm blaming peri for how weird I'm feeling and am going to start hrt.

It's a funny old time isn't it but you aren't alone.

BooseysMom · 24/08/2021 03:32

Same here only a year older. Its hell. Have had bloods done and have high bp. It must be peri. Always awake at 3am.

Good luck op x

Mindymomo · 24/08/2021 06:44

My periods stopped at 52 but in the 3 years before, I missed a period every 4/5 months. Your symptoms could be peri menopausal and change in hormones.

Try evening primrose supplement
Bryonyshcmyony · 24/08/2021 07:47

I felt like this for 3 years. Eventually I got hot flushes, thank god, because if I hadn't I would never have gone to the gp and never have got HRT. I look back on my mood at 48 with actual shame I was so awful

ineedaholidaynow · 24/08/2021 08:39

I haven’t really had hot flushes but I finally went to see the GP when I was alternating between crying and raging (and sometimes both at the same time) pretty constantly. It was not pretty. And my feeling of self worth, which wasn’t great anyway plummeted even more. I looked at a list of potential peri menopause symptoms before seeing the GP and ticked most of them apart from the hot flushes. So don’t wait for them to appear.

HRT has definitely helped, but I still have my moments!

CrunchyCarrot · 24/08/2021 08:44

I'm wondering whether the jab has lowered your thyroid hormones (temporarily). I've seen this happen with some friends who are already hypothyroid. Their labs plummeted after their jab, but went back to normal after a few months. Maybe this is happening to you, hypothyroidism can cause depression amongst many other things.

I would try and sort out some blood tests if you can @MercyBooth.

This clip of Victoria Wood helps sum up the menopause for me

Thanks for all these helpful replies. I remembered this article in their print edition of Red from earlier this year and found it on their website.

Heres the link in case it can be of help to anyone else.

I swear peri menopause is like puberty again but backwards. I’ve even got acne 😡.

When I was a teen and a pre-menstrual horror, my mum would exasperatedly/jokingly tell me to jump up and down! So give that a go (it doesn’t work). My mum suffered the same too.

The hell of being a woman!

BooseysMom · 25/08/2021 01:24

The hell of being a woman!

Amen to that. I'm coming back as a man next time as my DM used to be fond of saying!

toomuchlaundry · 25/08/2021 09:11

Went for a smear the other day and the nurse and I both said we would come back as a man!

As a woman you just seem to lurch from one phase controlled by your hormones to another and then another.

I wonder how many women in the last few months have put down some of their symptoms of mood swings, the feeling of not coping etc to the stress of lockdown rather than peri menopause. When I first started having these symptoms it coincided with my DF being diagnosed with cancer so I put them down to the stress of that, but after a time realised it was more than that.

You really can't. There are no hormone level tests for perimenopause.
