Is Covid rife now ?

Me and my family are double vaccinated and have all just had Covid, so i do have confirmation bias at the moment, but is Covid just rife now in the UK?

So many people in my company have it too, (office job, work from home and go in very periodically).

Does it seem to have spread where you are too?

Currently around 1 in 75 people have it, so yes. The confirmed case numbers are meaningless.

We are hoping that there is not a significant worsening in autumn/winter, but basically the government has given up because they would rather focus on NHS reqirganisation, scrapping BTECs and reorganising local government, all of whch will benefit noone anywhere.

Our small town was hit with the Delta variant back in June, after pretty low numbers all the way through. The last few weeks, there seem to be more confirmed cases with my friends and colleagues so still very much in existence. I wonder if it is areas previously unaffected that are now catching up?

No. London here and I don't know anyone who has had it lately among my friends and colleagues since vaccination

I've known many people isolated as they were pinged and then never tested positive

Personally I don't know anyone with it at the moment. I did a few weeks ago but not now.

A few weeks back , I knew lots of people with it and now I don't know anyone who has it.

In our area of South Yorkshire I know more people with it now than all the rest of the way through including me and DH

Absolutely loads where I am, not going very far at the moment till it settles down.

I don’t know anyone who has it right now, and the only people I know that have had it this year barely noticed they had an illness and only know they had covid because they’re testing all the time for work.

Was here a few weeks ago. Seems to have calmed down now.

After not knowing anyone to have had it until a few weeks ago, i now know lots and lots of people with it

Also London and only know one person's son who had it recently (but when the Euros were on so not that recent).

North West and I know more people with it now than at any other point. Mostly older teens.

I don’t know anyone who has it currently and none in my family has ever caught it nor have my friends. Friends of friends yes and vague associates but no one in my circle.

I don’t know one person that’s had it. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t had it. I just think people aren’t testing so much anymore. (South Norfolk).

I know one family who have it now, a few weeks ago it was a lot more. Seems to be calming down here. I'm arranging necessary appointments (opticians, dentist, hair) for before schools go back, as I suspect numbers will go up hugely again then.

Yes, London. Not at same levels as at Christmas but worse than I’ve seen otherwise.

Yes. All the pubs and restaurants in my village have gone back to the old rules of wearing masks and table service. 2 are closed due to positive cases.

It is shot. It's really getting to me now. I'm going on holiday in a month ( booked 18 months ago) and terrified I will get it before I go after avoiding it for so long.

Seemed to be a surge a few weeks ago locally (one day I knew four people who tested positive) - I haven't heard of many new cases in the last fortnight. That's only my small snapshot of people I know though.

I have had it for a week plus now, my eldest child for 2 weeks, he bought it back from uni where all his flat mates have it.

One flat mate went to a large wedding in another city and bought it back.

My other son got it watching the euro final and we had only just finished isolating when son 1 came back with it.

I am double vaccinated, 1 son double vac and 1 single vac, all been poorly for 2 weeks. They were at uni all year without catching it and have both had it in the last month.

I think rates have fallen because schools are out and testing has fallen, not because rates have actually fallen. Also we have not been recorded on govt database as positive so I think many people are positive who the government don’t know about. We did lateral flow which were positive and easy to do at home, and it’s so obvious from our symptoms we have it, there isn’t a way you can just log on a government web site and let them know you have it although we have done the Zoe covid symptom tracker app.

@Summerbreeze4 Why didn't you do a PCR? That's how you let the government know you have it, and also how your close contacts can then be notified officially.

I seem to know more people now who have it then I've known throughout the whole pandemic.

My office has 6 people in, 5 of them have tested positive. Just seems to be me whose dodged it.

Not here but it was rife here last December when everyone we know had it. I’ve got my fingers crossed for herd immunity.

I know people with it, I know more people without it. Had a lovely weekend away with friends this week, big, fancy hotel. It was so normal I could have cried. Not a mask in sight, big groups of mates having fun, you could fully use the spa, the breakfast buffet was back. Amazing! Did have to queue over an hour for a taxi back from a night out though. Haven’t missed that bit.

It might be rife but thankfully people seem to be out enjoying life again!
